  1. The board is overloaded with new applications from all of the recent school graduations, so they are probably behind in processing your application. As of last week, they were processing the certifications received on May 19th! Also, they haven't been updating the verification page to show what they have received or what they still need until they get to your application. We were told that it will all be updated at once when they processed the completion paperwork. For example when I look at my verification screen, it says they still need my background check and to pay pearsonvue, both of which were done in early May. Good luck, I hope they get to you soon!
  2. I too love Nurse Nacole. Nurse Mendoza has an awesome ABG video on YouTube. I haven't seen any of his other videos though.
  3. I just bought the supply bag today $99.95. I haven't opened it yet to see what it includes though. I got the Littman Classic II S.E. stethoscope, although you can find them much cheaper than what the bookstore offers them for. I am waiting to hear from a professor on her opinion on Nursing Central since the bookstore talked me out of buying it today. I'm thinking they were wrong from her initial response though. *sigh*
  4. Congratulations! I'm starting to get so excited. Good luck to you this semester!
  5. Great info Jenny! I can't decide if I want to get an iTouch or not. I know an iPhone or my Droid will use the same software, but like you said, I'm afraid an instructor won't allow me to use it (although, can't you text from an iTouch? what is really the difference?). I was thinking of an iPad for the ebooks, however I didn't think an iPad at the clinical site would be practical. I can't afford both.
  6. So glad that it all works out for you, and even better than expected! :) I got my shot records from my high school, but they really didn't help me. Apparently I had a MR shot instead of a MMR, so I ended up getting a MMR booster anyway. My Dr's office said that the titers where much more expensive than necessary and my insurance covers my vaxes, so they were the better route. I did my 2-step TB first, then went for my physical and 1st round of vaxes. I did have a mild case of chicken pox as a child, but wasn't sure of immunity so my Dr wanted to give me shots as a booster so I went ahead with that one as well. I also needed a tetorifice (I know my last one was much longer than 10 years prior) and I started the Hep B series. I have enough time to get the 2nd chicken pox and 2nd Hep B shot before school starts. I too had a minor freak out over the vaccinations, but it all worked out. What a pain this all was! :lol I don't think it is really as bad as I took it, I think school starting nerves are out in full force and I still have over a month before classes begin. lol!
  7. Awesome, thanks wantccu! It is listed as EMH, and a few people had papers that said it was St. John's and they said to give those back that they were wrong. LOL! Later on another professor said that there was a St. John's option but it wasn't listed. Confusing no? I'm glad it is St. John's though, so I'm happy. :) I would have picked differently had I known we didn't have to drive out to the clinical location the night before like she orignially told us. Ah well!
  8. Duh, I'm an idiot! Thanks! lol! This is the same schedule that I got the round about way, so I guess it is correct. The only issue is this schedule wasn't even on the list we were given. I had 20 in the lottery, so I don't think it was because none of my choices were available. I kind of hope it is correct though, because it says St. John Westshore which were weren't given as an option and it is closer to me. Other than the different hospital, the class times are my first choice. :)
  9. ladylysis is your schedule on the main page? I hope my schedule isn't screwed up.
  10. Excellent thoughts wantccu! You are right, we CAN do this! Hmmm, my Student Center says not enrolled in classes, but I am charged for the classes. When I go into my shopping cart it says it is empty, but then shows that I am enrolled in some classes. So I'm not sure if I should count on that schedule or not. LOL! I'm trying to get my physical scheduled and I'm worried about the vaccinations because I do not have my shot record. If I could get the nurse to call me back about getting the orders for my titers to be drawn before my physical I'd feel better. I know I need the Tetorifice and I'm fairly certain I need the Hep B Series, so I want to get those going. I hope my Dr's office can do the two-step Mantoux test because the Health Department doesn't offer that. I may be in line for a hefty amount of shots!
  11. Jwarnike I sent you a pm with those suggestions. wantccu, I too feel overwhelmed. If anything, they managed to scare the crap out of me. lol! I did fairly well in the lottery, so I am *really* hoping I get one of my top choices for clinicals. I have a NCLEX book that I've been reading, and I think I'm going to start going over a math for meds type of book. I also have the previous semesters Fundamental book (I have the 8th edition and we need the 9th of course!) that I'm going to start reading over the summer. I don't want to study, study, but I would like to at least look at some material before fall. I hope it works!
  12. I took Stats online and got an A. I did work for it though. I had to take the mid-term and final on campus, but all other exams were online. PM me if you are interested in the professor I took. She gave small video lectures based on the powerpoints for each section which I think really helped me. I just took chemistry (not online though) and good luck with the book. I think it sucks, and some of the answers are wrong. :lol There were some online students who came into our lab and the instructor helped them with anything they needed which was nice. He also made extra time for review sessions that were on his days off, again PM me if you need his name. Good luck!
  13. Good information! Thanks for the bump staceym!
  14. I can't find the free saunder app. I am a fan of micromedex too, I've had it installed for sometime just to look up my own meds and those for my family and friends.
  15. Yes and don't forget you don't even go into the "pool" of applicants until the support courses are completed. The list has gone down, when I got on the list in Dec 2010 it was 600 something! eek!
  16. I too am enjoying this summer off with my kids! :) Yes, apply as soon as your chemistry grade posts if you need that. Have you talked to someone from the nursing program? Sometimes high school chemistry counts. I took a basic chemistry class at LCCC (which no longer exists due to restructuring) when I was a senior in high school and that counted for the application. The sooner you get on the list the better. From what I understand the list has gone down in size. Good luck!
  17. I think the average is one semester after you finish all of your support classes. Good luck! There are a couple of us here starting this fall. I'm so excited! I took the BLS for healthcare providers course before the Spring Semester. I wish I had the physical form and the vaccinations lists because I would get all that scheduled too. I know I am going to need some vaccinations, I can't tell you the last time I had a tetorifice shot. I'm not looking forward to all the needles though!
  18. Congrats! I'm in too! :) I'm so excited! How funny that I just emailed an adviser yesterday asking when letters were going out and she said sometime this week or next. Then this morning, *poof* there it was! I already went and accepted my spot and signed up for orientation. Hard to believe it's real...
  19. Good luck Jenny! Good luck to you wantccu! Yes, they should come to our school email (which you can have set to auto forward to your daily email). No more stalking the poor mailman, I'll stalk my email instead! lol! At least that is what the adviser told me. She also said to make sure they have your current phone number and to make sure to answer if they call. Especially this summer.
  20. Me! I think I just want to KNOW at this point. I feel like my life is on hold. I keep seeing people I haven't seen in ages and they ask if I'm a nurse yet and I have to tell them, no, still waiting for a spot in clinicals...LOL! At this point if I have to wait until Spring, I have to wait until Spring. I will take the summer off and finish my BSN courses in the Fall and be ready to go in the Spring. I think we'll know a little closer to the date of the letter this year since they are emailing them instead of snail mail. So hopefully sometime in the next 2 weeks we will know! finally.... lol!
  21. I have heard c=degree and c=continue quite a bit. I get that grades aren't everything, but I don't understand the people who only study enough to get that C. I'm shocked at the amount of people whose GOAL is to get a C. I must be a type A personality without knowing it, because I've always thought that you should try your best and try to learn it all or as much as possible and if you get a B or C, that is ok, because you put the effort in and you learned. However to study, just enough to pass and little more? I will never get it. *shrug*
  22. Only 1 person passing a class out of 36? Yes, you have to wonder if it is truly a student problem or a teaching problem. I understand that it is very difficult for some people to pull all of the information together, however it seems to be a bit more than that. It seems that if the pass ratio is legitimately only 1 out of 36 (and not just speculation), then clearly something should be changed. I'm not saying that the tests should be easier or any of that nonsense either. The material should be tough, and you should have to work your butt off to pass, let alone get an A. However if the class doesn't get the material, the teacher may just have to change the way they teach or present the material, or help get the information to "click" for a student. Failing a whole class who have done reasonably well to get to the last semester without attempting to help them figure out WHY they are failing is crappy school IMO.
  23. Sorry I disagree. The website maybe gives *some* basic information, but not a lot. Most colleges give basic transfer guides to local colleges, of which Tr-C does not. Interesting that you state that the school has two routes, since their own website does not suggest that. The pre-reqs are Biochemistry or two chemistry classes. Is this what you are talking about? Welcome to Tri-C If you look at their website, it gives conflicting information within itself. From one section: From another section on the SAME page: The website specifically states that chemistry is needed to start, as well as taking a nurse entrance test. :shrug I'm not discouraging others from going to Tri-C, I just personally don't think I will be attending. I'm sure if I talked to a counselor, they could clear it up, but it seems their basic information is listed on the website. I don't meet that criteria, so why should I bother wasting my time or the time of the counselor? If the information is wrong on their website, then they are just turning away perspective students.
  24. I second checking CSU. I opted not to go that route since it won't work out best for me, but I have heard wonderful things about the program. I have to say, Tri-C doesn't have much information available on transferring of classes on the web. Also, if you do not yet have the Chemistry classes, you can't apply for the nursing program. It is hard when each of the schools have different criteria for both application and degree! There were rumors that the list went way down and it has from what I have been told from multiple people in advising. I too finished my support classes in the fall. I would LOVE to make it in this fall, but from what I've been told that would take all of the stars being aligned. lol! However by the numbers, I should make it next Spring for sure. After this Spring I will only need 2 more classes towards the BSN coursework we have available to us. Good luck to you!
