Vit A is also good for wound healing, Vit E is beneficial for the skin, however, both are fat soluble and if taken in excess can be toxic. Vit C is water soluble and wouldn't hurt. Not that this is the reason vit a, or e aren't usually ordered. Before becoming an RN, I was a medication aide in a LTC facility. Since the elderly have lots of skin problems, like wounds, I would usually see Vit C and zinc ordered for tissue healing. In 4 yrs of passing meds, I never saw Vit E ordered for healing. A 93 yr old lady who was a sundowner would always want to ho home after 6pm. She always asked if I knew what time the bus was passing by. I tried explaining that it was too late for the bus and that she had to stay for the night (never mind telling she lived there). Well, that didn't work for her so she kept on insisting to go home. After a while I would tell her I will give her a ride, BUT I ride a motorcycle (some days I would say a scooter). this was her face. My offer made her change her mind. She claimed she was too old and that she would fall off... She'd rather go to bed!! I didn't want to scare her, but this worked.. I even offered a helmet for her to wear and her facial expression was priceless... Love it!!.... P.S. By the way, I don't own a motorcycle or a scooter, but picturing this made my night in sundowners world.

The nurses figured out how he managed to do it... I only worked every other weekend and my job was to do the meds (we call it here medication aides) so I just used to mind my own business passing all the meds.

I wasn't a nurse yet, but believe it or not, we once had a confused male pt managed to deflate the balloon first and pull his foley out. He didn't know what was going on, but I thought it was smart of him...

Vitamin C... It is sometimes ordered to be giving with Zinc for a few weeks for tissue healing.

Cardiacnurse, I think 100-150 before going to bed is a lot, especially if you read ALL the rationals which I highly recommend. Why don't you try another technique. I don't know what your schedule is like but if you work in the morning, on your days off try to start with 75 ques in the morning and review, take notes and go back to look up anything that you don't understand. Most people are usually tired at the end of the day and to me that makes it hard to retain. Hope this helps...

Lisa, I can't imagine how you feel. It must be frustrating but you need to start by refocusing. Start of by getting a good night sleep. Make a list of your weak points and also why are you NOT answering correctly? Why did you answer correctly? Are u reading the question wrong? Do you understand what the question is asking? Concentrate on 2 books, not more than 2, and review rationals. Remember, an important step to passing the NCLEX is to READ the question CORRECTLY, if you don't understand what it is asking re-read. I hope this helps... Keep your head up.

I am not here to make enemies. The way he expressed himself was rude, maybe not to you. He doesn't sound bad to you, then I respect your opinion. When I read his reply the only thing I thought of was my mother going to an appointment and not being able to express herself and someone expressing themselves like that. I gave my honest opinion and I don't expect anyone to agree, unless you understand where I am coming from. I also understand what the original post was about.

I have to admit that if you come well prepared to clinicals, follow the unit's rule, look up what you don't know, ask questions, have a positive attitude, and most important BE PRODUCTIVE then you should have no problem. I already gave some advice in an earlier reply but forgot a few things. I can't help but to reply again since clinicals are still fresh in my mind. I enjoyed learning new things. Another thing, DO NOT hide under a chair or behind the door because TRUST ME they will know you are afraid, then you're screwed. Follow the advice of the experienced, because they live it and know exactly what goes on.

This description is not only for people that feel entitled, but I will not argue. It sounds racist and rude. "My country, My language"

If you are talking about the decision tree, yes, I found it difficult for everything even Kaplan. I hardly used the tree. When I started studying for the NCLEX I promised myself not to go crazy using different books. A friend of mine gave me an INCREDIBLY EASY q & a book, which I used once in a while. Try to concentrate on one maybe two books. This way you don't get your mind everywhere. Make a list of your weak points and do lots of questions. Once you feel strong with something, move on to the next. You already know the basics, now learn how to discriminate (for a lack of a better word) between answers. Hope this helps... Best of luck!

Royal Prince, It is sad to know the way you feel... My father and I came to YOUR USA less than 20 yrs ago, my mother joined us 11 yrs ago. I DO NOT have an accent at all, but my parents DO NOT speak YOUR language. It is not because they are ignorant but because once you hit a certain age, it is extremely hard learning a new language. The only reason my parents would frown is because they feel helpless of not being able to understand the language, not because they want anyone to cater to them. They are hard working people, in fact, my father is a US CITIZEN just like YOU and I. They are very proud that their daughter is an RN. I would give anything to help them learn. YOU must go back and retake a culture class, or maybe have neighbors like my parents, because you sound so ignorant and offend many people with your racist comment.

As long as you follow the unit's rules, you shouldn't have a problem. For example leave a note whenever you take a chart, do not sit around, offer to help, be friendly and smile. Have a positive attitude towards the staff, remember you are a visitor in THEIR daily work place. Be eager to learn, most nurses love to teach. If your nurse is having a bad day, do not expect her to smile at you, try putting yourself in her position and ask yourself how would you react in the same situation? I am a new grad and never had a bad experience.

Iamblessed2011, Your scores are perfectly fine. My highest score was 72% on a good day, lowest 50%. I passed the NCLEX with 75 quest. The MOST important part is for u to read ALL the rationals, even the correct ones, and to keep on practicing until the very end. Do not panic if you aren't scoring higher, because the quest trainers get harder and harder. Kaplan is a great resource. It really teaches you good strategies to make educated guesses when you don't know the correct answer. I thought Kaplan was harder then NCLEX. You will do fine. Have confidence in yourself. YOU CAN DO IT!!
