  1. I graduated from Chamberlain University, an online based program last 04/21/18 for my MSN-FNP. I studied with my full effort and focus and didn't work or did any family events from May 14 to May 24. I took my boards May 25th and passed with one take. School gave us APEA Qbank while we were in school. We also did APEA predictor exam which I scored 74. We had APEA CE center videos which we watched the entirety as a school requirement. We did a live review in Chicago under Amellie Hollier APEA on the end of our program. Leik QuestionsI went on vacation after school, then started seriously studying on May 14. I read the entirety of the Leik book except just browsed through the professional issues chapter. I did maybe 3-5 chapters a day and I think I really somewhat rushed through it. I did all the questions at the back of the book which I did 150 questions each day starting on the 5th day of my serious review. I averaged about 80-84% when I was doing those questions. The Leik questions are also somewhat comparable to the real exam. I bought the Fitzgerald review book but only read one chapter and gave up, because people who have taken the exam before said we only need Leik. I couldn't agree more, Leik is golden. APEA Predictor ExamI thought of rewatching all the CE center videos of Amellie but didn't have time. So, I browsed/skimmed through again the APEA binder given on the live review course. I want to check how likely I'm going to pass, and was of course very nervous on my decision to take the exam after only about 10 days of serious review. I bought APEA predictor exam which was one time for $30. I got 74, and felt a little more confident. The APEA predictor exam we did while I was in school felt like a 100% harder than when I took it this time. Exam Edge vs Board VitalsI want to test myself again, so thought of buying Exam Edge vs Board Vitals. Based on posts here in allnurses.com Exam Edge is better. I bought the exam edge 5 tests for $50. My scores were 68, 84, 65, 82, then 76 over 100. I answered 1-2 sets a day on the last 4-5 days of my serious review. I also considered and factored in the time I took those tests, my focus level, and my distraction level. I can say the 84 and 82 was when I took it in the morning, and the 60s when I took it after a whole day of doing review and practice questions. In the end, I decided to keep my schedule for the exam and proceed with doing it. I thought to myself, if I fail, I can always take it again. Of course, I prayed a lot, I prayed hard. Thank you Lord. The exam in summary can be comparable to the APEA predictor, and maybe a bit easier. Leik questions is easier than the real exam though. The exam edge can help you think, but they also have very stupid questions, like you refer someone to cardiology for their - heart or kidney or brain or skin or whatever. The exam for surely will have a test of knowledge or memorizing which antibiotic to be given for this condition. Some will be basic, some will involve a lot of elimination strategy to get the probably correct answer. For which elimination can't be done correctly if you don't know what to eliminate and why. The exam was 3 hours 150 questions. I marked about 60 questions that I was in doubt of. After rereading the 60 questions, I brought it down to 19 questions where I can't decide between two answer choices. Then in the end I said I just need to decide and move on. Then submitted it. Got the preliminary result: PASSED. Good luck guys. Cheering for you. You can do it. Thanks for reading.
  2. Hello. I will send d docu as soon as I can sorry for the wait..
  3. Ei jhon ur msgs r full
  4. U can message me now. I also dk how to do that, but I'm ok with my job for now, its a good experience..
  5. Ooh ok great, so I will follow up that application, coz I'm really very interested to work @ the hospital. If in that case I was offered a full time position, do u think its ok with my 1st job to convert my full time employment to part time even I just started? I hope ill be hired in the hospital, coz its more in line with my long term goals. Hehe. Thank u so much for ur time and advice.
  6. That's also what I thought of when she asked me my rate, somewhat rude. Anyways, thanks for saying that this is not much to be bothered with. I was just worried, and that's a relief. Thanks.
  7. Hello. I'm a BSN fresh grad and got hired for my 1st job recently. There was this incident when an LVN asked me out of the blue what my rate is, to my surprise, I answered truthfully without thinking of its consequences. After she knew she told me that my trainer is like $2 lower than mine. She also told my trainer my rate, so it turned out that my trainer wants to go to mngmt now and ask for a raise. She doesn't have her BSN yet, so I believe that's the reason. Should I tell our staff devt person or HR of the incident, just so they know that it was never my intention to be comparative with my rate and everything. Its my 1st job and this bothers me. Thanks for ur advice.
  8. Hello. I am a new grad, and got hired for my first job as an RN at a transitional care and rehab. But when I started looking for a job, I also applied at a hospital new grad program and until now I'm considered eligible and hopefully might be scheduled for an interview. My question is if I divulge to the HR analyst that I was just recently hired in this rehab, will this disqualify me from the new grad position at the hospital? I really wanna work there that's why. Thanks a lot.
  9. Hello... I am currently in a kind of mentally confusing situation for me, and a piece of advice would be of great help. I am a new grad and got accepted in a transitional care and rehab which I am very grateful. But, I can't let go in my mind the other job opportunity that might be really a great, even better one. Coz when I was applying, I applied over the area, and the rehab called me the day after. But with UMCSN in Las Vegas, my application is still there and the nurse recruiter told me that I might be called if a position opens up. Now, I am really bothered and my thoughts says I need to follow up on this, for my goal is to work in acute care and working in a number one trauma center in NV would be a great great opportunity coz I wanna be an air force nurse too. My question is, should I follow up with the nurse recruiter at UMC of my current disposition that I was hired here and that I am very interested, that it is my dream to work there, that I wanna be an air force nurse too, that I am working on getting my ACLS too. Btw, for UMC the application is for a new grad position so it really helps. I will be starting my floor orientation tomorrow at the rehab, but of course I wanna set my foot on the best step and wanna explore all the possibilities. Pls advice on d best career move. Thanks a lot.
  10. Hello.. Id just like to ask you guys on what should I be expecting for the1st interview in horizon.. Im a new grad. Thanks so much
  11. lmclors!! :) hello.. Im in a job hunting position, just like where u were before.. congrats on your new job. Anyways, I'm also a foreign grad batch 2011, NV licensed.. Hope you can share with me some tips with regards on job applications. I have submitted online applications for the hospitals, should I call the HR every now and then to follow up? Also, I have applied in person on some SNF's, should I call them immediately like after 3 days or should I wait for 2 weeks, or should I even call? Mind sharing which ones are hiring? and also how many days or weeks after submitting the application did they start contacting you? Pls pls pls, Im really very determined to work as an RN already. I still live here in Anaheim, Ca, so applying in person required an extra effort for me, so I hope I can get a job after I went last Mon and Tue.
  12. Of course Johnny Id be working in LV soon, hopefully I should say. Thats why they said if u took d nclex for that state u must be planning on working there.. Best of luck, hopefully we'll be hired soon..
  13. wow congratulations wildleviosa24... I'm so happy to hear that after like a month of your job search (since the day you first posted this), it seems you have landed a job already.... I am really in so much relief just to hear that.. Do you mind sharing me some tips on how you applied. I passed the NCLEX just last week of Nov and am now really really in serious measures looking for a job around LV area.. I'm a foreign grad and also from CA, but NV licensed.. so did you apply personally for this job you have right now? Coz I already have submitted online applications, but haven't heard any for interviews and of that sort. If its ok may I contact u personally? Thanks a lot..
  14. Wow thanks for ur reply.. very great help.. its been 3 days already.. I hope I'm still being considered.. btw, mind to tell me what qs were asked about d communication skills, etc? hehe. Thanks

  17. Hello.. pls pls pls you guys, can you pls pls pls help me and answer my queries pls. thank thanks.. Coz, I have applied for sunrise online for their RN positions, and Im a new grad. The positions posted doesn't say New grad program, it just doesn't have an experience requirement, so I suppose they are. This post has been for a year already, so how long did you guys waited before hearing something from them, like an interview or of the like?? pls pls help. I also attached my 1 page resume on my online application and thats it. I didn't upload a cover letter.. Is that ok? or should I add a cover letter? what did you guys do in order to land an interview with them. I really want to start working in a hospital. Any advice will do. thanks a lot lot lot
  18. I took it just days ago. anyways, it was not that hard to apply in NV, they are even friendly when you call them, unlike the BON here in CA. Im not sure about the endorsement though. I've heard there's a good nursing market in NM. goodluck. keep us posted with your reciprocity application here in CAli
  19. Hello Johny.. when did you took your NCLEX? Have you found a job yet? goodluck.. I'm also looking forward to find a job in NV as a foreign grad.
  20. ok thanks guys for your say on this matter.. anyways, Johnyboy, pls update me on the progress of this matter. I'll greatly appreciate it. thanks. goodluck.. I was just thinking, my CA application would really be a waste if I can't even convert the application into reciprocity.. Its my precious $300. lol.
  21. Star.. I passed the NCLEX RN already.. Thank God.. and also thank you, for your post served as a guide for me on what to do, and also an inspiration in my decision making back then. I'm now in a job hunting mode.. Hope you can help me again.. Are you guys hiring? :)
  22. Hello.. I'm a foreign grad and applied to CA BON last year for the NCLEX RN. I was denied for the ATT due to concurrency issues, so I applied to NV. But my documents for CA, will still be valid for around 2 more years I believe. I then took the NCLEX for NV just days ago, and am now an RN. Thank God. But now I'm wondering if ever anyone is on the same boat I am. I wanna know if ever there's a chance that we can convert that licensure by exam application into reciprocity application. And so if that happens, are they gonna ask for the deficient courses again? If so, I take those courses, am I gonna be able to hold a CA license through reciprocity? Thank you so much.
  23. Thank you guys.. About the sata type, I didn't get those type of qs that ask you to choose whether this s/sx can be manifested in this and that disease. But instead, the choices were nursing interventions to this kind of condition, that kind of situation, and the situation itself really happens on the bedside.. its kind of common sense type supposed to be, but to dig down deeper, it just means you should know what that situation or circumstance of the pt is showing and which intervention is really appropriate. There will be no choice that jumps out in front of you saying I'm wrong and you are incompetent nurse doing this. The choices will all be correct and you, the nurse carefully discern if it is applicable. So yeah.. there's a lot about GI in my exam btw, but it always depends. Case to case basis it is. Again best of luck.. and do what u need to do in order to gain confidence that you'll pass. There will be no other person who can make you believe you can, unless you do yourself..
  24. Hi daisy.. thank you.. I made this short post of my nclex experience. Just check it out. https://allnurses.com/nclex-discussion-forum/passing-nclex-rn-800168.html Goodluck..
  25. Hello.. I have justtaken the NCLEX RN today and found out that I passed in 150 questions. I'm aforeign grad and took the exam for Nevada, though I applied for Californiafirst hand and got denied. I hope this post of mine can help anyone who has thesame questions in mind as I did when I was reviewing for the exam. Answering thequestion of whether the exam was easy or hard, as we all know involves asubjective answer. But for anyone looking for an objective answer, I hope thiscould also help. I graduated lastApril 2011 and waited for all the processing in order to be issued the ATTuntil Sept 2012. I took the exam 11/30/12 and found out I passed through the NVBON website also the same day. I didn't enroll inany review course online or in person. My review time involved review contentand practice questions. I used Saunders Comprehensive Review 5th edition(around $50); Prioritization, Delegation and Assignment by La Charity (usedbook for around $20); Mosby's Review Questions 6th Ed (given to us by ourschool); Kaplan Strategies (borrowed from the library); various practice examsoftwares (Mosbys, Saunders, Illustrated Review for the NCLEX RN). So how was the exam?I can say that I should have not studied by cramming. The exam is easy I shouldsay, if you know your content by heart and also if you know how to talk toyourself. By that I mean, you should analyze the choices carefully and debate whichanswer choice is appropriate for the question being asked. I'm saying its easyfor one more reason, its because in my exam, I haven't been asked for anythingthat is not basic knowledge. I can't remember a question asking me aboutWernicke's, Allen's, Monroe's, that ecg wave starting with W for which I can'tremember now and etc. Based on these reasons, it is easy, but for me, I supposeI know the content by heart for only about 60% and analyzed my way out for theremaining or missing 40%. You know the result its 150 questions. Hehe. I'm also not good in memorizing, so I was alsoworried that a SATA will pop out and ask me about s/sx of this specific diseaseor something related to normal values of ALT, AST, T3 or T4. Luckily thatdidn't happen. But must know the normal CBC values, electrolytes and commonstuff. For pharma, though,my weakness, sad to say, I don't know exactly what those meds are for, youshould have asked that for pharma students. Well, not too good advice on this.Just keep answering pharma practice questions, and that might help. Oh thesuffixes, study that. The exam can ask youanything under the sun with regards to nursing interventions, some pharma, easycomputation, positions, infection control, immunization, etc. This makes theexam preparation, for me, harder to study for, especially if you cant disciplineyourself and make a plan. Laziness is a problem too, but if you have that goal, forget the wasted time you just used for watching koreanovelas and focus onwhat you still have. I'm guilty about this that's why. The exam is hard ifyou don't know the content by heart. There are just too many content to understand and know by heart though, but remember, the exam will not ask you for any isolated content, it asks aboutsomething always tested and common for nursing (as far as I believe). After the exam, Iwas telling to myself that I should have not reviewed coz I can't remember athing (content), that I have reviewed that was asked on the exam; or maybe I'mjust too anxious to realize. Also the free online event that Kaplan has helpedme with regards to realizing when or if the questions being asked to you isabove the passing line or minimum line of competency. The pyramid they callBloom's taxonomy. So meaning, you kind of feel if you are passing or not, soyou can be more aware and not anxious if the computer is giving you harderquestions. There are variousSATA questions, and prioritization, some delegation, I believe those mostly arethe passing questions as they call it. If you are slipping away from those hardquestions, then focus more and pray and pray and pray that you'll get the passingquestions. Also practicingquestion exams is good, for it enhances your analytical thinking, which reallyhelps too, but you can't analyze without basic content. My exam is really anursing exam, most or a lot of questions are with regards to nursinginterventions and what you should know you should or must be doing if you arein that situation. Anyways, the Saunders I think helped, and the PDA helped more. Your nursing content is important big time, what you have learned from nursing school will make it or break it. hehe Keep studying, makea timeline, have a plan, work on that plan, and remember you can't knoweverything, but you can analyze your way out with what you know, pray, pray, pray, pray, pray. And think that youwon't be able to finish nursing school, if you are not for nursing. Anythingthat you have studied in the past 4 yrs or less is compressed into this exam, you deserve to PASS. Go get that license. Ooh this is way toolong.. If you have any questions, just ask. Always have a probing mind, butdon't over analyze.
