chiropractor employee taking blood pressures
I would love to have a little fun with this! Test them on their knowledge.. Ask where they went to school... Things only us nurses know... Kind of embarrass her.. Maybe next time she will re think about falsely identifying herself... Kind of like those monsters that pretend that are in the military and then get called out by real military. If you wanna be something, be it. Don't take the easy route and lie to the public.

Only African American Nurse on Staff
If these people, especially your supervisor, is calling you an a-hole, is time to speak up. I don't care what color a person is you don't behave that way to a fellow nurse. And as for the person who says "it's because your black", that's work place discrimination. You have ever right to be angry at this point! I would consult with corporate about this or higher management that isn't the person degrading you. You should not quit your job because you are not the guilty party. Only as a last resort because employers will ask about gaps in work. Don't let these people be the reason you leave your job. I have multiple African American friends at work and we get along so well. Not every pace is like the place you work.. There is many good ones out there. I would never dream of saying" it's because your black " to a person. Good luck to you dear !!!

Workplace Cowardice
II agree but if the person is a repeat offender, it is time for management to be notified. We are there for the patients not for any other reason and if people are unwilling to take their job seriously, there eventually will be consequences. I had a coworker of mine who repeatedly refuses to answer the phone when the doc is calling. She is an LPN and is supposed to help out in that are as well, and when I was an LPN I always helped out. The last straw was when we had a a critual lab that we needed to notify the doctor about and she said blatantly, in front of multiple other staff that she was refusing to get the call if he called while I was gone(I had to leave the floor for about ten min) and that she needed to chart so she could go home. Every one looked shocked and I was tired of trying to explain to her that we all need to pitch in and help each other. It was a bit embarrassing. At that point I had to tell management. I doubt that did anything though. No one should lose their jobs over a misunderstanding, but frequent refusal of duties needs to be addressed and when people don't respect your authority on multiple occasions it needs to be addressed in a different manner. Took many hard working people out there that will do the job right and be happy to do it.

After interview I was called about a week later and offered the job.. I have been an rn since July 2014, was an LPN for a few years before that. I'm super excited.. Orientation is in a month. Lvn to RN
If I were you (and I was.. Started as LPN and transferred to Community college for my RN, just graduating and now doing my BSN, will be done in one year).. I would transfer to community college and do your LPN-RN there. Then, you can save money and you can take your RN to any school for your BSN (contingent on being accepted of course) and while you are waiting you can do your prereqs for the RN as well as the BSN. I don't like online schools as I have heard only negative things about them as far as students not having transcripts accepted and them not being accredited schools. you want to learn hands on when you are going for your RN, and you want to be confident in your skills. Its harder to do that when you are doing a lot of your studies online.

LVN to BSN 8 months
Only thing I have ever heard of is RN-BSN in one year, which I am currently enrolled in, and even that is full time and pretty heavy work load. If a school is offering LPN-BSN, I would be weary of its legitimacy.

Problems with Prioritization Concept
Like I said before, if death is "inevitable" for someone, you rule that one out and move on to the next, or if they are already terminal. You have to focus on the facts and whether the person is even capable of saving (especially with triage questions). You wouldn't go and save a person who has lost the lower half of their body/legs in a disaster whose unresponsive, before a person who is capable of being saved. Use good judgment and you will be ok.

License number available date
How are you working as an LPN with an expired license? I also am an LPN whose license needed to be renewed in May (took the boards a few days ago) I didn't want to renew and "blow" the money on it , but I can't work without the license. Besides I think if you let the license lapse it costs more money after
