New to infection control nursing
I just recently took a position at a behavioral health clinic (we do inpatient and outpatient) for infection control. Unfortunately there is no current infection control nurse there to train me so the DON and nurse supervisor will help me but that makes me nervous because neither have done infection control completely. If anyone can help me understand more of what i need to do to make sure we are up to standard with jcaho that would be great. I havent started training yet, will start in a few days. I was told we will start with making sure employees are up to date with TB and flu shots, that im okay with im more concerned with being up to standard with jcaho like paper work, monitoring ect. We havent had an actual infection control nurse in almost a year now. Any help will be greatly appreciated

The wait after the interview
That's true to. Thank you for looking at it positively :). I really need a change from where I am at now and this position seemed awesome (but for some reason I have this feeling that Im not going to be offered it, and I been offered all my nursing jobs that I've interviewed for )

The wait after the interview
They did not specify when I asked at the end of the interview. I just feel if they were truly going to offer the position to my they would have by now, or am I wrong?

The wait after the interview
I had an interview going on 10 days now and every day that passes I feel like I'm not going to be offered the job. I was told the decision will be made by the end of the month and I know the month is not up but I feel if they wanted to offer the job to me they would have already... Do you agree? I haven't called HR because I was told the end of the month a decision will be made and its not the end of the month. What are you thoughts?

Just had an interview
I've never done a thank you letter and have always gotten the job. This position has me nervous being that its a complete change for me. Adults to newborns. After the interview and talking with them the position sounds awesome. I don't know what to say in a thank you letter and do I mail it? Would it even help my chances?

LOL thank you for the response. What are your thoughts on a thank you letter? I've never done one before but I'm really interested in this job.

Just had an interview
The interview went overall good. I could have improved on my introduction but my nerves still had the best of me and it wasn't until was started talking some that I felt more relaxed. I asked when should I hear something back he said they plan on making there decision by the end of the month. Is that a bad sign for me?

newborn nursery
I have an interview coming up this week for newborn nursery. I've been a RN for 1.5 years mainly with adult patients. I am extremely nervous about interview especially since it will be a panel interview. I have an idea of what the questions will be like, but I'm not to sure what to say when they ask why newborn nursery? Truthful answer would be related to me having a change of heart in nursing shortly after I went into preterm labor and my daughter passed away several days later. Would that be inappropriate to mention???

Thinking of applying for a NICU job
I'm going to be as honest as I can be, and I'm looking for input. I'm starting to think I hate nursing. I've primarily been doing mental health nursing for the last 1.5years and I know its not for me, in that time period I also did critical care for 6months but didn't stay (because I felt I was at risking my license due to other nurses behaviors) I did like it (a little stressful). I also lost my daughter at this time due to preterm labor. That is when I was introduced to nicu. I've been thinking lately of trying nicu but I'm not sure I'm going to like it and I don't want to keep moving from job to job so I don't know what to do. I like critical care, I have a new passion for the babies and I understand what the parents are feeling... Any input. What do you like about NICU, What do you hate or dislike about NICU? Any advise is welcomed

Max dose on drips
Im new to CCU and im trying to get used to the max doses on certain drip. Ive seen that the max dose for levophed is 30 mcg/min and that's what we use at our hospital as well. My question to you all is what is the max dose on neosynephrine (phenylephrine). I was told 350 mcg/min but when I look online at references the highest I find is 180 mcg/min so Im a little confused.
