  1. The paradigm is similar to that of DO vs MD. The DO's had to invent something "new" to give themselves plausability & credibility. Of course, we all know DO's are folks who couldn't get into medical school. I believe nursing would actually benefit from more emphasis on SCIENCE and less on the psychobabble aspect. It hurts your credibility as a "profession."
  2. sounds like the "village idiot" who taught my daughter. it's a shame these types of instructors exist. they are reducing nursing to housewifery.
  3. Editing time means nothing if a student has copied his/her own file for backup purposes, for example. If the student sends the backup file, it will look like no editing time even if the student has spent many hours editing the original.
  4. Leaves one wondering about how sufficient skills lab experience was, for example. Is the school providing adequate instruction from the ground up? Some schools seem to cater to students who already have HC experience and tend to leave out those who haven't had such prior experience. Could this be part of the problem too?
  5. Best bet: Carry malpractice and do not violate students' legal rights.
  6. I would keep anything professional OFF Facebook. Moreover, there are legalities involving privacy too.
  7. It appears some of the instructors have forgotten the legalities involved in taking heresay from students about other students - not to mention the flagrant violation of student privacy rights and the fact that instructors have no business discussing one student with another student. I suggest you ask for your attorney's input on such matters. You'll be lucky to keep your licenses if you keep up this behavior. If you're worried about certain students, it is incumbent on YOU to be on top of things enough to see for yourself what is going on. It is absolutely NOT the business of other students.
  8. It appears nursing is turning into feel-good holistic psychobabble with very little real science. It's a shame to see nursing reverting back into the realm of Suzy Homemaker.
  9. Here's one for you: my wife was in a class where the instructor FLIRTED with male students. Still can't fathom why that woman still has a job as an instructor. Can only imagine the sexual harassment charges that school may face if complaints are ever made.
  10. My wife was the victim of a bullying nurse instructor. The instructor was apparently intimidated by my wife's 2 previous degrees in physics and in computer science and, as a result, harassed my wife all semester. I had to talk my wife out of filing a complaint with the BON and various other agencies (although had she done so, she would have been in the right). I believe part of the problem is very few "nurse educators" have doctorate degrees and, hence, don't exercise the same type of professional behavior as is seen on most university campuses and in most medical schools. Nursing will never be taken as a serious profession until those in it start acting like Professionals.
  11. It's neither libel nor slander if not presented as fact and if it does not result in monetary loss. You ladies should know better.
