  1. WishMeLuck, I got one from the nurse recruiter, then 2 from SkillSurvey. I think as long as they receive 2-3 reference surveys they will be ok.
  2. I also got an email specifying this: Thank you for your continued interest in UCLA Health System. An important part of the hiring process is reference checking. You will be receiving an email with a link to enter in your references: 5 total, of which 3 must be current or past managers/supervisors or 4 total for select positions. Very confusing since I got an email that told me 2-3, then 4, then this says 5 or 4... Anyhow, good luck everyone!!!
  3. JSRN17 replied to amarch's topic in California Nursing
If moving is an option, what state/city would you suggest?
  4. Hey there, Best of luck on your interview! I would google The Complete Guide to Successful Interviewing for Nursing Students and Alumni. (John Hopkins University) It is a wonderful resource and I hope this helps you. As far as clinical questions, as many of the members on this website have suggested, focus on ABCs. You may want to review what you would do if your post op patient's vitals signs are going south. Or a patient is SOB due to CHF. I just had an interview and although I practiced dozens of questions, I still ran into questions I had not gone over...even in this case, practicing will help with the nerves. Invite friends/family over for lunch and have them read questions to you, and practice formulating your answers out loud. And, most importantly remember that you got this interview because you have already proven to them that you are more than qualified. This is now just an opportunity for them to get to know you as a person! (That was a great advice I got from a friend)
  5. http://www.sharp.com/jobs/san-diego-nursing/rn-new-grad-frequently-asked-questions.cfm The application will be posted October 7 per the website, good luck everyone! Also, does anyone have advice on panel interviews specifically what to focus and prepare for clinical scenario questions for med surg/tele/step down units? I have found great information on behavioral questions through the website but not so much on scenario questions. Any advice will be greatly appreciated!!!
  6. Hello there, I recently had an interview for an aesthetic nurse position. The questions did not pertain to any technical aspect of the position (because they were willing to train the right candidate.) At the end of the day, they are selling services so I think having great customer service and sales skills is crucial. I also recommend that you emphasize your particular interest and enthusiasm for the aesthetic nursing field and the procedures that the medspa offers. Bottom line, the success of the company relies on the ability of the nurses to not only provide great results through technical procedures, but to be able to have repeat patients who will purchase more services or to recommend the company to friends/family. Hope this helps a bit! Best of luck to you!
  7. Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone had any information or is working at any Outpatient Surgery Centers in San Diego. I have an interview next week but am having trouble finding a lot of information to prepare for the interview.
  8. No problem, they said in the email that they will notify us with ample time when they decide to reschedule, so if I hear anything I will post it here.
  9. Congratulations, Mrs Badcrumble! Also, just received an email that the information session was postponed...
  10. Hey there, The course I took was in Escondido run by San Marcos Healthcare Learning Center. It was very thorough and the class size was perfect, there were 5 of us RNs. The majority of the course is completed online then on one day you go in for a few hours and go over central line care. Although I know it is a bit far from you, I highly recommend them!
  11. I look forward to the information session and also to meet some fellow new grads! For additional information on Hoag and their information session please view the thread below starting page 4, hope this helps! California's 2011 New Grad Program
  12. I received my confirmation email the next day after signing up. They even sent me 3...so perhaps they are having some technical issues...
  13. Thank you very much for the information, Mrs. Badcrumble! When I signed up there was still 154 spots. I've heard great things about Hoag and this information session sounds like a great opportunity. Thanks again!
  14. Congratulations, Rolliepolee and craziechiq! Good luck at Alvarado! I was wondering if on Plaksa you noticed any status changes on the "status update" section before you were interviewed. And, Lotus1972, good luck on your NCLEX, I'm sure with your positive attitude and great energy you will do great!
  15. RnxAnnie, I am not 100% sure if they do but any job that states "experience preferred"...I would apply to. You never know what the applicant pool will look like. A new job in Perris just opened up at Kindred for part time nights that states experience preferred and their requirements are not so extensive. Good luck!!! I know we will all find jobs soon : )
  16. Scripps just recently hired a bunch of new grads. Apparently the job posting was up for a very limited time period and applicants were being interviewed about a month ago...I missed the opportunity to apply as well although I had been checking the website pretty frequently. I think that the best thing is to just keep checking the Scripps website daily and sign up for email alerts from websites such as http://www.simplyhired.com, http://www.indeed.com to have them email you new job posting daily to help you in your search. Good luck, so many of us are in the same boat...
  17. My status states: Application has been reviewed. How about yours?
  18. Thank you, Dienne! I do have my ACLS and I just signed up for an IV class for August...so I will keep my fingers crossed. Best wishes to you!
  19. Congratulations, persistancepays! I just checked my job application status at UCSD and I just noticed that IMU was still open...crossing my fingers, thanks for sharing with us the great news! Best of luck to you!!!
  20. Hello Dienne, Congratulations on your achievements and on your new job! I have been applying to Alvarado and was wondering if you had any advice or ideas on what they are looking for in terms of qualifications. I see that they had viewed one of my submissions 3 times but no word yet...I applied a few weeks ago...there was no HR number listed on their website so I didn't know if I should follow up with them. Thank you for your time in reading this! I live in San Diego so this would be an ideal hospital for me. Also, are new grads joining nursing associations? If so, what associations are recommended?
  21. definitely an uplifting discussion, i'm really glad you started this post, lotus1972! i also wanted to add that (please do not name names of flu clinics per site owner - if you have questions please post in the help desk forum) is hiring seasonally. they call right away for a very easy screening interview. i am waiting for my paperwork to clear, they train you online, then off you go on your own...but hey, experience is experience! good luck, everyone!
  22. Thank you, Lotus1972! Wow, your blog is so extensive, I am so impressed. Huntington Hospital has been posting a few new grad positions as well, they are located in Pasadena.
  23. Hello Daniela, Congratulations on your job! It must feel so rewarding to land a job in a department you love! I am a new grad living in San Diego, just applied to Alvarado among all the other hospitals here and other locations throughout California. I read that you also applied to Nebraska...did you obtain a Nebraska license before you applied? I've been searching for jobs for about 5 months now in California and am seriously considering moving out of state. Any information you have will be greatly appreciated. And, thank you for all your posts, I wish I had found this site months ago. It's great to have such a wonderful community of nurses out there.
  24. Thank you, lovepeacelove!
  25. Hello TeleNurse22, Thank you very much for the information. The application asks for a personal statement to answer questions like, "What influenced you to pursue nursing?" How long do you think these personal statements should be? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
