I think you CAN get a lob, but most prefer BSN. I am hoping to get a job which pays for or contributes BSN.

I am having a really hard time in my Philosophy class. I really hate it! It's super fast during the summer, but I have two classes per week, M & W 6p-10p. Tuesday is my "paper writing night" for the class and then the rest of the week is when I do my other two classes work. Maybe I took on too much for summer? I was just thinking, "I should drop this class!" So I came here for moral support/to remind myself why I'm trudging through. I am just irritated because it's the kind of class where no matter what kind of student you are, there's room for you to do well. We had a paper to write, and he seriously stressed that papers would not be accepted under 3 pages. He wants two full but must make third page. I know I write cohesive papers and I did all the things he wanted. I even got midway through the 4th page! I got a full letter grade down however (got a B), because basically, I didn't write "The movie Contact relates to the following four themes in our book _____, _____, ____, ____." Instead I incorporated the themes into each of the following four paragraphs, as he requested. So essentially "I made more work for him" because I didn't put that one sentence, and I got a full letter grade down. I am just so irritated because I know I write good papers, I've never gotten below an A on a paper. I also saw quite a few people who didn't or barely made it to the third page, and then he said you got "half a letter grade down" if you didn't make it to the third page. What the heck! There are 7 grades in this class, all of which are equal. I just really really don't want to get a B in this class because I'm trying so hard to keep my GPA up! Man I must sound whiny here, I am just irritated. I work so hard and I know the quality of my work, and it just doesn't feel right. Well, just needed to vent to others who are in my boat! BLEH.

Good advice Rach. I am hoping I get in, I am just like you guys. I have been working my butt off and will be pretty disappointed if I don't get in! I hadn't thought of looking into 4 year schools because I REALLY want to get a job off the bat if possible and work towards BA. It takes so much more time while you're working to do any of it!

Yes, I have taken statistics. It was annoying but I got an A. The final was a beast however.

I took the CPR class with a girl who was going into the fall program so I assume she got hers. I don't think Spring is to expect anything until after August. I also spoke to someone in my class who was in the middle of the nursing program. She said she was elected class president and was going to e-mail me her notes from the program so that I am excited about! She also said there's no way to double up on classes, however the time you're expected for the NUR classes isn't 4p-12a. It could be Monday and Wednesday 2 hours of lecture, Tuesday Thursday 4 hours clinical, Friday lab for example. She also said you have to be strict about keeping a log of your lab time.

Thanks, passed with one question wrong. Avoid going to Browns Mills for your test to avoid a super uncomfortable class!

Off to go take my professional rescuer CPR class. Wish me luck! (Haven't taken CPR since I was 12...)

PD, don't panic! The TEAS V is definitely difficult, but I took it with having only API as my only refresher and crammed a few nights before the test and I still did above average. I've been out of HS since 2005 and hadn't taken any substantial classes (nor remembered any) for years before that. With a BS, and having taken classes recently, you'll do fine! You'll pass at least I remember I felt like an idiot after taking it, but I don't think it's meant to pass with flying colors. It's to truly test your knowledge.

Oh I am with you there. I feel like I have to talk to 3 people in person and 2 on the phone to get the possibility of a straight answer, and even then I'm likely guessing!

Rach, Thanks for replying. I hope you get in too! That is bad to hear about the summer 2 session being late. I have to go sit down with someone and get the scoop. Does anyone have any advice as to who to sit down with? That is good to know about not being able to double up on the NUR courses, thank you very much for that info. Though that stinks for me! I was SO hoping to be able to do that, but sort of knowing that I couldn't. Are you able to find out from your friend the amount of time one NUR course needed? Thanks again for the info!

Yes, I am a Burlington County resident. I was under the impression that prerequisites are the general classes listed. I looked at the nursing program brochure and their example course-load is laid out in a way that includes the prerequisites, so I am confused. I will be done most classes excluding micro and lab and all nursing (5) courses. Ideally I'd take more than one nursing class per semester to get done more quickly. If their program course-load example includes four classes per semester, and THAT is why they say be available from 4P-12A M-F, then that is understandable. However, I am trying to figure out how much time ONE nursing course requires, since I won't have many other classes to take.

I find the whole process confusing and am trying to gather as much information as possible while stepping on as few toes as possible! I'm sure the person who reviews the applications is insanely busy, and I can't believe they'd put all that on one person. My last prerequisite class is PHI101 which I will complete August 8th (end of Summer 2 semester). I had registered to take it in the fall because I could take an online version of the class, but then realizing that I may shoot myself in the foot that way, I quickly switched to the Summer 2 course. I have no issues with testing in general, especially with multiple choice. However, with being out of school for so long, I had forgotten most of the information (besides what I relearned in AP I). I ordered the TEAS V study guide three months in advance. However, while in school I sort of put off studying for it until the last minute. I am so glad I had the study guide and took the online practice tests, because that test was HARD. I felt like a failure after taking it, even though the guy at the testing center said "Good job! You passed!" Anyway, I still got above the national average, and I don' t think they expect people to get a perfect score, if so, not many. I wish you luck on your test! Remember to keep a cool head and STUDY!

Also, if someone has completed this progam and is persuing their baccalaureate, which school did you go to and how did the transfer go?

Greetings, I am currently enrolled at BCC full time and will be finishing the last of my prerequisites this summer. I have applied to the nursing program for Spring 2012 and I know not to expect information for quite some time. I have a 3.92 GPA and received a score of 71.3% on the TEAS V test. Once I am accepted into the nursing program the only classes I have left to take are the following: BIO 155/156 (Micro, Lab), NUR 119, NUR 120, NUR 214, NUR 215, NUR 216. I have already taken the medication administration class successfully also. I am looking for advice/answers from fellow students going through the process. I have a few questions/concerns. Will completion of my final prerequisite class this Summer be finished in time for the acceptance process? What is the schedule like? I know to be available from 4P-12A M-F for classes, but that seems vague. Can you double up on any nursing classes during a semester? (Registration-wise) Are any nursing classes available during intersessions or summer semesters? Any other advice/comments :) Thank you very much!

Thanks! Good luck. I looked back at my score and it was actually a 71.3%. I remember the guy was like, "Good job! You passed!" and I gave him this look like "I just got my butt whooped dude!" But apparently that was good enough! I think passing is 60% and the mean score was around 65% or so.

Yes, science is the biggy I felt. Math is easy enough for me and because it's MC I am cool with using deduction to figure out the answer. I would brush up on grammar/English also because it's something we forget so easily. For me in matter of importance/needing to study, it was: Science Math Grammar

I think that it is an excellent resource. I found that what I read directly helped during the actual test. I wish I had put more time into reading. If I sincerely read the entire book, and did all the practice tests, I think I would have gotten in the 80-90% range.

Definitely study for this test! I have been out of highschool for 6 years and most of this stuff I haven't taken in about 10 years! I crammed big time and I ended up with about 73% or something like that. I did better than average according to the test, but it was seriously difficult! Good luck!
