  1. The DOH doesn't have that information. It is found on the state education web sites. The DOH deals with public health issues such as communicable diseases like TB and STDs. They don't care about everybodies licenses; they just want properly licensed nurses working for them.
  2. Not for straight time pay.
  3. It matters not if we both do our job.
  4. I think that written English should be taught, and used.
  5. Any MA who presents themself as an LPN, RN, NP or PA and doesn't correct the MD or patient is wrong of a very serious infraction. This is both etically and legally wrong. The party misrepresenting themself can be brought up on charges for impersonation of a medical professional. And yes LPNs are professional.
  6. Poor attention to detail? In too much of a hurry? Short staff? Lazy? Careless? Where was the supervision? These kinds of thing are not an accident.
  7. I guess you have never worked in a jail. This language is common place. As far as regular professional communication it is not proper. How ever you must also understand that crude language is the only words that your client understands in order to get information or make an explanation. In that casde it is a good opportunity to teach the proper words. Good luck.
  8. I work for NYS. I am employed By DOCS. Its a good deal, if you can get hired. They want RNs with 5 or more years experience if they can get them. Nurse I (New RN) positions are rare. Nurse II positions require at least one year of experience.
  9. I did the LPN to RN track in Erie County. Good program, just gotta know your stuff.
  10. You can if you are not a corrections employee. But, it is a very bad and dangerous thing to do.
  11. Guys like that are easy, but a pain in the A**. I could write a very funny comedy about some of mine........Thanks.
  12. You stop the procedure and have the family removed, by security or the police if necessary. This practice is in violation of not only the rediculas HIPPA laws but right to privacy rules. You as a practitioner did not give the family permission to photograph you. YOU have a suit also. All three nurses in that room could wind up with major legal problems for allowing the pictures to be taken in the first place.
  13. Everybody wants to bash the Republicans. Have you ever wondered why the Democrats rarely get a man in the "Big House"? I cannot for the life of me understand why you want a Liberal Democrat in charge with our already gimme, gimme society. All this crap about OT, I don't want some burned out nurse on doing alot of OT taking care me and missing things. Fact of the matter is, hire enough staff to do the job right in the first place. That my friends is not a political issue. It is the cheap healthcare providers. Just another thought; I don't see the all powerful nursing groups / organizations like ANA, NLN or NYSNA doing anything to support us. Just keep doing all that OT, it will catch up to you. I have seen the mistakes made and people hurt. Think about it.
  14. Thats fine till you mix the wrong things and the patient suffers. Use different tubing for each ABX/admix. I have seen salt precipitation and I have seen the negative effects on patients.
  15. Vote Republican and help the country.
