  1. I once gave an injection, back when I was still intimidated by older nurses and Doctors, And I was told to give a Morphine injection, when I went to check the chart for myself for drug allergies, I was barked at by the Doctors. I foolishly followed orders, and yes- the patient was alergic to Morphine. I never, NEVER made that mistake again. I lost my bashfulness immediatly. The patient was alright, thank God.
  2. Yeah, I saw a DON tell that to a patient one time in the ER, he told him, "Please, next time, finish the job so we won't be forced to take you any more." I told him he was a sorry excuse for a nurse and shouldn't come on the floor. I know it gets "frustrating" sometimes- but get over it- the rest of us do. If you can't "get over" your frustration of needy patients, find another job.
  3. Well, that's probably another thread, but I'll say it anyway. Non-nursing folks, including patients and family members, wouldn't have any opinions about different licenses if the industry wouldn't put out a certain image. I've trained many new R.N.s on many things, being nursing schools aren't what they used to be. That doesn't make me better than them, in my perception at least. If we wouldn't spend so much time putting each other down, people would have at least a little more respect for us.
  4. Although, here in south louisiana, any day of the week you'd be able to get a full-time nursing job. It all depends ont he region, unfortunately.
  5. I tend to believe you would have a huge advantage getting a job in a "closer to normal" market- if for nothing else, you're experience. I know when I'm in the hospital, I am very picky about the nurse, being I am one. I'm almost to the point of being rude. I want to know who is pushing meds through my veins! I rest easy when it's a nurse I can TELL is experienced. Please, don't let it damper your self-esteem. The economy is bad. It also gives no favors to anyone- not even the best of workers.
  6. I get comments all time about being "Just" an LPN. I was told last week, "You should really consider become an R.N. because you're too good to be just and L.P.N." I've nurses I've known for a long time, tell me, "I would have never guessed you're just an L.P.N. by the way you talk." One R.N. actually questioned my scope to give injections. She swore up and down that only R.N.s could do that. People must think we go to summer school before taking our NCLEX-PN exam. Yeah, I know the feeling.
  7. LOL That's funny-and accurate.
  8. You must not been in the work force long. I remember catching one nurse having sex in the hospital! Totally believable that someone would say that.
  9. Lol. Very funny. Ok, You're right, My mistake. Well, You're right and wrong. Right, I misread your comment, wrong about my "MO" being drama. but anyway, have a good day. P.S., the point is, I'm not calling you unqualified or incompetant, I would think THAT would be insulting. Anyway, good day.
  10. What I call drama is taking something small and making it big. If calling your job "Easy" is the WORST and MOST DISRESPECTFUL thing you've heard from a fellow nurse, then you must lead a very boring life.
  11. Louisiana. I must apologize. Like I've tried to state, I was harsh on ed nurses. I've seen that now. But, my point is, this is my experience, not to be a stereotype of all ER nurses. I'm sure I've been a "Dramaking" sometimes, too. Let me not be unfair about other nurses. But this is my experience.
  12. actually, i have walked in your shoes, as i've stated a couple of times already on this thread. as i've also stated, this is not a "gospel truth" statement, but my experience says that most of the er nurses i worked with were like this. i've been an er triage nurse before as well, and it is frustrating to the max with petty complaints, but hard, no. but, it's not to judge other nurses. this speaks of my experience!
  13. How simple is that? The concept simple to me. OH! Don't let anyone else read this- this might beat me out for being "the most disrespectful thing I've heard from a fellow nurse". How dare you!
