  1. I've recently started studying for the CAPA/CPAN. I am using the Drain's Perianesthesia Nursing textbook, the newest ACLS book and the ASPAN Standards book,...... but I feel a little scattered. Does anynone else have a good study guide or good suggestions on other books. Also, has any one recently taken these? What can I expect? Thanks.
  2. If Adminstration walked a mile in my shoes....
  3. You definitely did the right thing by reporting it. You will help alot of people just by going thru it. Yes, now you're all going to have an inservice on safe med passes (because of you) and it will be what saves someone elses butt (or life) down the line. And you will have learned a lesson about being aware and accountable. I have made med errors too, and the panick that sets in when you realize it is terrifying. Try being apart of the inservice. Stand up and say "Hey, this thing happened to me and I hope it can be a learning point for everyone." or whatever......Just breath, its good for you.
  4. Our hospital puts out a monthly news letter called the Stetho-Scoop. Maybe you could use "The (your school name) Stetho-Scoop".?
  5. Yes,I agree, just apply. I have 11 years experience, 7 in LTC and 4 in clinical OB/GYN. So basicaly, I'm an old nurse with no skills. It had been 8 years since I placed an IV and I asked our O.R. director if I could come check it out just to see if it would be something I'd like, and could I get in some I.V. practice. She told me "Well, sure! Come do pre and post-op for a while, every one gets an I.V. there". I have been going every Thursday since the middle of January. She asked me to take an official position the end of March! Im nervouse and excited every day. It's like being a brand new nurse all over again. And our O.R. has a pretty extensive orientation program too. She said if I neede 6 months to take 6 months. So, I say go for it! and good luck!
