Anyone Applying to Antelope Valley College RN program
Hi, I was just wondering how the drug and background screening are done. Like did you pay for the services and what forms are needed...or did the school provided that. Plus what did they request for the physicals and what kind of titer shot are needed...I am just wondering so I know how much money and time to allot. Thanks.

Anyone ever get their license back after revocation?
Hi...I just read your quote and wondered if you can help me. After getting off OIG list, did you have any problem getting reinstated as a provider in your state medicaid? OIG has been very helpful...it's the state that's giving me problems. Hope to hear from you soon... thanks:)

NIGHT SHIFT - Bored out of my mind
I was actually happy that for the first time since I started working NOC shift, I finally got my lunch break last night. I worked at a Skilled/ Rehab Facility were most of our patients are post ops needing PRNs. By the time I am done with my assessment and passing meds, it's already 3 in the morning. Then I have to do 15 medicare charting plus 10 more that are COC's(my charting can go up to 30 at one time) I still do GT care , scheduled treatment (now why do we have treatments at night when patients are asleep?),fax lab results, f/u on care plans, check equipments and what have you. Day and Eve shift nurses always say that NOC shift is the easiest. I say at least they have no problems contacting the MD without being screamed at. But I love my shift. It's peaceful once all the residents are settled in( Then I can chart). No families present to nag(question) you when they can actually see that both your hands are full and that you just answered the same question or heard the same story 5 minutes ago. But don't get me wrong. I love it when families call in the middle of the night and ties you on the phone for the next 30 minutes. At least I get the update on what's really going on with the patient. I mean, we don't really get an accurate report all the time especially if your supervisor is breathing heavily on your back because OT is not allowed anymore.(But hey, we are always mandated to stay after the shift when necessary and would benefit them, right). But anyhow, all shifts are different. But us nurses still extend that same nursing care no matter how as long as it's within the guidelines and policy.

LVN License??
For NCLEX-PN, you pay for the application fees first then you get the ATT. The actual license( that very important piece of plastic) fee is paid once you pass the board. It's the same with RN license, if you don't pass then you have to pay for application and testing fees again. But the actual license fee is not due until the board says you can actually have it. Hope this helps:)

LVN License??
Once you pass the board, you pay for the actual license and it takes 2-3 weeks to get it in the mail.

What would you do?
There's this Rn from our staff, newly licensed, that just can't seemed to get TO correctly. And whenever she transcribe on the MAR, either the dosing or the time is wrong. I told her once but she seemed arrogant to admit that she is wrong. She insisted that all her TO are correct. For three weeks, a s/p gt patient received vicodin es ii tabs q4 hours ATC when the order was q8 hours i tab, plus not counting all the prns that pt got in b/w those 4 hours. This is just one example. Another has an order for Apresoline 25 mg prn q8 hours when SBP >160. She wrote instead Apresoline 25 mg qid hold when sbp

License expiration?
your renewal date is two birthdays (your birthday) from the day your license was issued. it is usually the end of the month following your b-day. so if your lic was issued jan 1, 2004 and your b-day was jan 2 , then your renewal will be feb 28, 2005. it's always the end of the month after your 2nd b-day. check also with you bon coz every state is different. this is in california. hope this helps. :)
