  1. Hi alfnp, I was wondering did you take the position in the urgent care as a New Grad NP? If so, was it too overwhelming? Was there other providers on the shift or did you have to work solo?
  2. Did you work alone or was there another NP/MD/PA on the shift with you when you started as a New Grad NP?
  3. Hi DuncanBella2012, I am in a similar situation as you, so I wanted to know what your decision was…did you accept the job in the urgent care as a new grad FNP? Similarly, the urgent care clinic I am thinking of joining would want me to work alone with MA but no other provider (NP/PA/MD) on the shift. My concern is that without any support or sufficient training I am not setting myself for success and it would be too stressful as a new grad FNP not to have any official training or support.
  4. Hi Juan, Thanks for following up with my questions. Yes, mine says the same under the nor license link: Controlled Substances II. Thats a good idea, I will definitely send the BON a copy of my DEA cert once I receive it and follow-up with a phone call. I know they never answer the phone! Thanks for all your help!
  5. Hi Juan, Thank you for your prompt reply, I appreciate it. My school did included Controlled Substances CEU as part of the Pharm course which was marked off on the original furnishing license application to the BON.On the verification of license on the BON CA website it reads under my furnishing license number schedule II controlled substances. Once I receive my DEA certificate...Do I still need to send a copy of (1) your DEA certificate and (2) a certificate of having completed an approved Controlled Substance Continuing Education Course along with (3) a written request for CSII authority to the BRN in Sacramento as you mentioned in your reply in order to be able to prescribe CSII?
  6. Hi Juan, I came across your post and it appears you are very knowledgeable about the NP DEA and furnishing app process in CA. I have a question that relates to your post on 1/9/13. I am a new NP, I have my furnishing license and I am going to be applying for my DEA license. Do I have to send a written request to the BON after obtaining my DEA number to request for Schedule II furnishing privileges? or Is it automatically implied once I have obtained my DEA number? I am not clear on how the process works. Please advise.

  8. Does anyone know that quality of the FNP program at sfsu, such as the if the professors are good or bad; if they assist with finding clinical preceptors; is the program organized and structured? Please share information if you have any or found anything out because I got a negative review from a current student but I want to find out if it is true or not...
  9. MBA2RN's post said it all in the 1 paragraph!!!! very very true all of it ...know from experience.
  10. csung1818, Thanks!! And will contact you if I have any further questions.
  11. Csung1818, Thank you very much for all the input...i really appreciate it. It is very helpful to know the perspective of a former student that has attended the school that one is considering. I did get accepted and will be starting in spring. If it is ok with may I contact you with any further questions that may arise in the near future? Thank You
  12. csung1818, Thank you for your reply. I have my MSN and was accepted into the postmasters program. I wanted to know your experience that you had with the school and program. When I attended the info session they mentioned that they had a preceptor coordinator that would be of assistance to help. I wanted to know if this was actually true. Were you enrolled in the FNP program? If so...how was your experience with the school, classes, workload. Any information would be of great help...i am trying to decide between holy names and san fran state univ. Thanks you in advance
  13. does holy names help find clinical preceptors for the fnp program?
