Online RN to BSN Programs
The number one thing you want is an accredited program. The rest is going to boil down to whats affordable/convenient for your lifestyle. If I had all the money in the world I would go to one of the 2 private schools in my area and do the blended programs they offer (online and in classroom). I really prefer to meet my teacher, sit in a classroom and enjoy a lecture where I can ask questions and participate in discussions. Chamberlin is popular in my hospital because its 100% online and there are no practicum or clinical classes to attend. Personally, its not for me, I really learn a lot from hands on real life situations and at $590 a credit I could just go to a private school in my area. Its also one of the fastest track colleges and will accept the most credits out of most of the colleges you'll look at. For me, I'm doing SUNY Delhi online. Its a state university in NY for tuition is almost affordable and requires I think 16 credits of practicum courses in a clinical setting with a preceptor. Its going to take forever to get through, but its my best option for right now. See whats available in your area and then get going (especially if you're going to chip away at it bit by bit like I am). ETA: Is it worth it to continue your education? For me, some of my nursing classes have really been beneficial in the workplace. Pathophysiology was amazing, I understood so much more of what was going on with my patients. The hospitals in my area that pay more all want a BSN and I will go on to become an advanced practice nurse, or get my masters in another area, so for me its the only way to go. Certification as a specialty nurse in your area of practice can also be very beneficial.

Does the process of crushing meds allow some of it to get into our system somehow?
I used to work on a LTC vent unit where everybody had a g-tube and I wondered about that too.... At the end of the day, there isn't much we can do.

A rant from the night shift.
They don't take report! Just all of my paperwork. And they freaking leave the unit and go get their coffee with my MARs in hand!!!!

A rant from the night shift.
I work 7pm to 7am. Let me say that again.... MY shift ends at 7am. I appreciate that the day nurses come in bright eyed and bushy tailed, and I certainly wouldn't want you to come in late. BUT, don't come flying into the hospital at 6:30am and start demanding MARs and paperwork from me with this "Well the real nurse is here now" attitude. I'm done taking care of my patients when 7am comes and I give you report. I am not hiding the patient's paperwork from you.... I'm WORKING. I can't re-check my MARs and make sure everyone is medicated for pain and that all the care plans are in the packet if you come in and just take my paperwork.

Poll: How long did it take you to finish the NCLEX?
Ashley_RN I have a favor to ask you.... I see that you have a premium membership and I think the current poll going regarding the Pearson view trick is not explicit enough. I want to start a poll- 2011 PVT- After you get your official results did the PVT work for you? A) I got the good pop up and I Passed!!! B) I got the good pop up and I FAILED WTH!! C) I got the bad pop up but I passed anyway! D) I got the bad pop up and I Failed. E) I don't think I did it right F) I got the Results on hold pop-up so I'll leave a comment I can't do this because I'm poor and can't afford a premium membership right now (haven't found a job yet). But I think it would be a good idea for someone **hint hint nudge nudge** to do it.
