  3. Hello fellow AN members, I am in desperate need of your assistance/suggestions. I am a fairly new member of this site, but have been been reading long before I joined (found it while I was a CNA). I graduated from my LVN program almost 1 year ago but have only been licensed 5 months. I have been having an extremely hard time finding a job, like many, I know... I realize all the possible reasons are because of being inexperienced and the economy etc. So, I am not here to whine...... I am asking for some help. I recently re-wrote my resume to only reflect my health related experiences (CNA, caregiver, etc), but am wondering if I should re-write it again to add some of my other career experiences. Nursing is not my first career. I have many years experience working in the managed care field as a claims processor, claims compliance auditor and claims audit manager, in addition I have a bachelors degree in psychology. I also have some psych experience, but I imagine it is too far back to put on my resume.... I was thinking maybe I should re-write my resume again and somehow incorporate this experience. I ask because I see some job advertisements for nurse auditor positions; however, I do lack the clinical expertise that they request. I am just trying to get some LVN experience, any experience..... Like others here, I have applied to many positions, but to no avail. My plan is to go on for my RN at somepoint. I am taking some of the science prereq's now, but like others here, I would like to get some experience as an LVN. Anyway, what do you think? Anyone have any suggestions for me? Thank you in advance.......:heartbeat
  4. maybe before telling me to re-read my post you should re-read your post and run it through a spelling and grammar check??
  5. Interested in the LVN to RN program. Anyone know if there is any way around the "LA County" residency requirement? Probably not.....
  6. I'm not "too posh to wash", by the way.........
  7. for one, i don't think most conscientious nurses "are going to search up and down just so they don't have to help the patient". second, doesn't the nurse have enough to do with their 20+patients (maybe exaggerating here), than to have to chase after staff that should maybe be proactive in their job, such as answering call lights, etc.... i've been a cna, so i what a cna's job can be like, but.....just my.....
  8. It never ceases to amaze me that there are idiots every where!!! People often tear other people down in order to make themselves feel better.... Maybe she's the one that should feel inferior.... Hope you have a nicer rest of the day......:redbeathe
  9. At least you have a job...... I graduated last Oct and still no job... No advice for you, but congrats on graduating......!!
  10. The following may be what you need to take depending where you go to school: Chemistry, Anatomy & Physiology (usually 2 semesters), Microbiology, Speech and/or Philosophy, English, Psychology, Sociology. Best thing to do is check with the colleges that you plan to apply to......:)
  11. I have been wondering the same thing myself........
  12. I am starting to get really angry and frustrated....!! I have been licensed for five months and still do not have an LVN job!! I have applied pretty much everywhere within a two hour drive from where I live. I don't have the option of relocating at this time, so I'm starting to look at other fields besides nursing, because I need a job. I mostly apply online because when I make phone calls, they all tell me to apply online. Or if I go to apply in person, they take my application and state such and such a person will look it over and call me..blah blah blah blah blah.... In addition, I've signed up for flu shot companies but either they never have anything available at all or they are 250 + miles away from my home....I really don't know what to do... I'm also trying to get my pre-reqs done for the RN but I can't seem to concentrate on my studies because I'm trying to find a job and worrying about money.... Just having a bad day today I guess and on a rant.... I'm usually fairly positive...but not today....!!
  13. XTXRN: I love your screen name picture !!
  14. Congrats!!!!! I've had my license for several months but can't find a JOB!!!!!
  15. I'll let you guys know if I do it.....!!
  16. Doesn't appear to be a scam....Checked the website.....I just might do it....!! I don't live too far away....Maybe I'll win something....!!
  17. Thanks everyone for all the replies...! I'll keep you posted..
