  1. Just emailed u thanks
  2. Wow thank u so much! Yes I have looked into 1099 and I don't think I am ready to pay all those taxes - what company are u with?
  3. What company?
  4. Anyone do travel np jobs? Any good companies?
  5. yes...great advice it was very nerveracking because you go from knowing it (as an experienced nurse) to feeling dumb every day ! Everyone went through it and you will be great
  6. too funny...one of my 1st days in the speciality I work in(which is like being a student again) I wa staring so intently at the chart that I said my name is ...and I blurted out the patients name...thank god we all laughed about it and I brushed it off but boy did I feel I had to walk an uphill battle after that
  7. Diabetes is always a good one...it affects both sexes, all ages and both rich and low socioeconomic status.
  8. IF i was in it for the money and didn't care about job satisfaction : CRNA ...but I love being a CRNP I love the one on one with patients....although it peeves me we dont get paid as much as PA's or CRNA's but oh well...my job satisfaction trumps that..
  9. It depends on your State board of nursing...in Maryland we use CRNP
  10. wow great!!! I was wondering how urgent care was being a New NP...I found that really hard for me because you have to really think on your toes
  11. I work 9 to 5 mon tues wed and 9 to 12 on thurs and usually get off about 3 on friday ...they let you do charts at home? I have no call do you find urgent care hard?
  12. I think it depends where you work ...when I first started I saw pts every 30 min and this was manageable ...they just have to be willing to work with u
  13. I actually had one yr experience and I went to a speciality praxtice (ENT)...not my fav but have learned alot and don't know if any more years in primary care would have helped me...speciality is soo different it is soo much more in depth than what we learned in school..i have had to pretty much be a student again ...but if it is something you really want to do (I want to do geriatrics) I say go for it
  14. that is why I became a crnp...independence or at least in my state
  15. thanks for the posts - I will ask about their plan for follow up and we do have Emr but lab corp and quest aren't connected yet so if they get the labs at the hosp I am good otherwise I fall into the no follow up hole
  16. sorry didn't specify I currently am in a ent but they want me one day a week at a urgent care and one day a week at a nursing home- does this change any factors? I know for a fact they don't have anything in place for follow ups(very disorganized) and should I increase my malpractice insur?
  17. david thanks, what I'm concerned about is if I am there only once a week who is going to follow up on my labs, radiology results or are they going to have to wait a week? Also with the nursing home I am concerned with call since I already do call for ENT_ so I get paid 86000 now do you believe I dhould play the PA card ? Can I get access to that info?
  18. I am currently a fnp but work in ent and have gotten my corln certification which is really for rn's but it looks good that i have this on my resume...most of my experience in ent was "on the job training">
  19. Hi, Just a little background I am a FNP with 2 years of experience and I currently work in ENT and the hospital owns the practice and since I am not getting alot of patients in ENT they want me to work in their primary care clinics 2 days a week and the rest in ENT. My issue is they gave me a proposal letter but are not increasing my salary, will add more money for CEU's, and give me mileage reimbursement.. My other issue is: LIABILITY? I feel since I am using 2 differnt skill sets and 2 different specialities(because believe me they are way different) that I should be compensated..I feel i'm setting my self up for a problem and am worried about the follow up for the patients especially if I am only there 2 days a week? I have a meeting with the "big wigs" this week and need to have a plan and I already have a bunch of questions but need help in getting salary numbers etc...i went to salary.com and my salary is way under the average although they said in my proposal that I was in the median range...PLEASE HELP!!! KJ
  20. i am a UAB graduate FNP and loved the program i did all online it allowed me to work as well...
  21. Hi Everyone, well i have made the leap from FP to now ENT...and need some advice. I am finding that I am like a student again in a speciality and the docs think that I am there to "lighten their load". I realize I am no specialist and will become proficent at my job in ENT soon enough but it is hard to go from calling all the shots in FP to being someone's load lightner. I have one doc that knows exactly what a NP does and she respects me in my profession and treats me like an equal however I have another doc that wants me to get the history on the patients and then he wants to do the rest and he is also the one that made a comment of "np/pa's are here to lighten the load of the doctor" I really had a problem with this statement. I need your help- i truly feel he is not educated about what a NP does or what our capacity is so would it be rude to sit down with him to give him some information of what we can do as NP's ( I have a great booklet about NP's) and what his expectations of me are so we can come to some common ground? Also, as a NP specialist do you find that patients want the doctor? and when you come in they say "where's the doctor?" HELP> Thanks, KJ
  22. it is Mainly triage from the phone I don't have to go in for any reason and would call my physician if she has to go in for a bleed etc I would not take any er call just office
