  1. Wow I'm jealous. I work in NYC Neuro floor/step down and we are lucky if we get a 1:5 ratio. Usually 1:7-8 . I hate working in such unsafe conditions!
  2. :clpty: Thats awesome! I just started an accelerated BSN program in Western PA and am going to move back to NYC after graduation and I am very worried I wont be able to find a job for a while b/c I hear from other new grads about how difficult it is, esp. in NY. I volunteer at a hospital there (can't while I am in school) but have been keeping ties with people and will come back for thanksgiving break. Do you have any pointers?! :) again, congrats!!!
  3. good luck everyone with stony brook, they are verrrrrry hard to get into. I applied to both programs Accelerated and 2 year and did not get into either. They do not have nearly enough spots for the amount of students that apply. Good Luck!
  4. Jaded, Join my Facebook group! Christina
  5. helloooooo is anybody out there?? i created a facebook page for all of us to communicate on... hopefully im not the only one that will be in the innovative program :)
  6. okay my facebook page is up! check it out... just search for edinboro university innovative nursing program fall 2011!! hope to see you guys on it
  7. Hey caye, I live in NYC now so looking for apts right now from here is kind of difficult. I want a quiet place (I'm really serious about studying for this program and it wouldn't hurt to have a study buddy !) I'm looking for something not far from campus because of the winter weather. If anyone is interested in renting with me please let me know. I'm going to start a facebook page too tonight so we can all communicate that way. Thanks! Christina
  8. Hi alyjacks ! I was accepted into the innovative program too! I am also wondering where to live. If you decide toward off campus housing let me know! I'm looking for something within walking distance because of the winter weather ! I am excited to meet you all one day... Where are you guys from, what's your background?:)
  9. o man i can't wait to hear back.. the dean said friday or monday right?
  10. I forgot to mention one thing, the pre-health counselor also said that "interviews are randomly selected". This all does not make sense.
  11. Hi guys, So, Hunter does it again... the admissions decision response will not come out until Mid May. I wouldn't be surprised if they delayed it again! I stopped in today and spoke with the dean in person (she is not a very friendly person). She said, "The interviews will be conducted next week but admissions decisions will be sent out in mid may". How this makes sense I am not sure. I asked the pre-health advisor what this means for people that don't get interviews... does it mean they dont get in. She said "not necesarily" and that "All decisions will be sent out mid may." Now keep in mind, last week she told me the decisions would be made the first week of may. I am frustrated beyond belief. I am so tired of putting my life on hold for this decision. What is taking them so long?!
  12. I'm sure you guys are fine. Hunter is just very confusing !
  13. O wow now I'm all confused they last told me that you have to be enrolled as a student in order to apply. I don't understand this school they keep changing their requirements and I can never get a straight answer from the administration. I hope we are future classmates is all I can say !
  14. Cat I'm confused.. You're not at hunter? They said you need to be enrolled to apply...?
  15. they told me the first week of may, lets hope they are being truthful this time.
  16. this is killing me, i want to know if im in or not!
  17. kristen ann- i think that one of the reasons why people are not getting in is that there just aren't enough spots. I was reading some articles on the shortage in nursing school faculty and can really feel it hit home right now. I just don't know what else I can do to stand out next year?? I want to be a nurse and don't want to be held back from my dream anymore. Its such a terrible feeling.
  18. paco- can i ask.. what was your GPA? I am worried I'll never get in to any nursing program....
  19. I didnt get in to either programs. Wow. O well, I'm still attending Hunter we'll see if I get in or not.. probably not! There's always next year. I have a decent GPA, have volunteered at 4 hospitals worked in an emergency department technician and also wrote an amazing essay. I just don't get it. Try to stay happy guys
  20. PACO- Not that I know of.... still waiting to hear back from the two year program. How long after the decisions were out did you get waitlisted? ~*wishful thinking *~
  21. trojan warrior! i am going through the same thing. i feel like if i dont get in all of this effort will amount to nothing... i hope that we can talk about it, do you have facebook? maybe you can private message me on this thing or something... keep your head up!
  22. Paco! hey long time no.....post? haha ... how were you notified that you were waitlisted???
  23. i guess i didnt get in...? my status went from "your application is also being considered for the accelerated nursing program" to not admitted... ? bummer.
  24. Hey Biochem Gal! I just got accepted to the innovative program also! How exciting! When did you graduate from Edinboro with biochem? I live in NYC and am waiting to hear back if i get into Hunter College or not and if I don't, well I guess I have to pack my bags up in September and go to PA. Do you know anything about the clinical rotations ? All of those simulation labs sound amazing! -Christina
  25. Yeah, I knew they were going to give interviews.I'm not so nervous about the interview as I am about getting it. I really hope I get an interview so I can get in and fulfill my dream of being a nurse! We have to wait a whole other month! I thought we would have known by now. Hope I am taking Hunter's general electives for a reason and that I am not just wasting my time. -christina
