Entering nursing school in Sept. Any suggestion??
Enjoy your friends and family now while you have the chance. Take a vacation. Read the books that you want to read. Go out to dinner. Go to movies. Sleep late. Once school starts you can kiss those things goodbye!

test question!
First of all she stated that the amount of blood was 6cm...so taking that into consideration...I'd be reinforcing my dressing FIRST before I took vitals. If I'm your patient and I'm bleeding out and you come at me with a blood pressure cuff?! Excuse me, no. You don't need a BP to tell if I will be going to into shock...you can SEE THAT. What you better do is apply pressure and hit that call light for help, hollar out the door, or SOMETHING. Once the patient is STABLE, then I would get a set of vitals BEFORE I called the MD. I never said I would call the MD without vitals. However, if it was an emergency and I didn't have them all the info they need is "Your patient Ms.B is bleeding out...get here quick." And for another thing...my NCLEX questions were very straight forward and to the point.

I almost got kicked out of my program from ONE mistake!
You made a mistake, learned a valuable lesson, now MOVE ON! Don't let this get you down...you've still got a ways to go! CHIN UP AND GOOD LUCK!

test question!
In real world...vitals is the LAST thing I'd do. Taking the BP isn't going to help your pt who is bleeding out! And NCLEX uses this same thought process!

Nursing School/Tattoo Vent
Sounds like discrimination to me...might want to check your school's policy on discrimination. You may have a good case.

is 3 weeks enough?
Being mentally prepared is very important! You'll do great! Good luck!!!

is 3 weeks enough?
No matter how much you study you can't possibly know everything on the test. I put in some major study time and there were things on my NCLEX that, when I read the question, I thought "Shoot! I should have looked that over!". Do what you can...use your critical thinking...review test taking strategies...review your content...answer lots of questions and read ALL the rationales. GOOD LUCK!!! YOU CAN DO THIS!!!

Anyone do the kaplan, hurst REVIEW and failed?
I believe Hurst has a remediation program if you take their review and fail. I took Hurst review and loved it. I did the online one though (it is cheaper than a live review, I think). Check into their website for details (hurstreview.com). This is such a comprehensive review that I wish I had known about it at the beginning of nursing school so I could have been using the online videos with my lecture content. It would have made nursing school so much easier! I think once you purchase online review you have access indefinitely. Not 100% sure about that. But it is a great investment.

Feeling bummed.. Need advice please!
I took Hurst and LOVED it. She goes over a lot of core content. You can't pass NCLEX if you don't know the basics. I recommend Hurst to get you started and then maybe Kaplan to start applying that knowledge! Don't give up! You can do it!

Anyone take the Hurst Review for NCLEX? Is it worth the money?
Hurst was the only thing I used. I did her program and her practice questions. Doing it online is cheaper than doing the live review. I found out this morning that I did pass NCLEX so it does work!

I HATE SATA QUESTIONS! I am always off by one. I did have some on NCLEX today (about 4-5). Its not enough to stress out over.

Anyone take the Hurst Review for NCLEX? Is it worth the money?
I did Hurst review online and really enjoyed it. Marlene did almost all of the videos except for a few. I did her practice questions and even bought an additional Hurst book. She is hilarious and really breaks stuff down and makes it memorable. I took NCLEX today, got the good pop up, so I think I passed. I definitely recommend Hurst review!
