  1. Questions you have asked but I have not been able to answer d/t an influx of family/friend love: -Scripps Mercy Hospital San Diego-DOU -Bay area resident-BSN -No affiliation with anyone in San Diego or Scripps -No prior healthcare experience -I haven't heard of anyone else getting positions ...I was in class all day yesterday. :-/ -Application said "applicant review" until they called me. -HR called me...not unit manager. -Firework: You made my evening by sharing that they are still calling!!!!!!!!!!!! -Congratulations to those that have found out since! Looking forward to getting great news from all of you today. I won't be on much because I have work but I am praying that I sign back on tonight and learn that we are all co-workers! Keep up the endorphin-creating sessions! Funny note: I happened to find out that I received an interview after an 8.5mile run! -I'll have you know that I do not typically run 8.5miles, rather I usually do 2-3 in one trip to the gym . I had so much frustration that day that I just felt compelled to keep running. I walked out of the gym, checked my email, and there was an interview invite. I was SORE as could be up until my interview. Lol. Enjoy Saturday and you all will be in my thoughts and prayers! InTime.:redbeathe
  2. friends, i got a call during my ekg class around 2:00pm. i ran out of the building and was given an offer for the position i interviewed for. words cannot express how thankful i am as i have wanted this more than anything else... on a different note, i am indebted to each of you for providing me with so much support and optimism during the last couple of weeks. the constant uncertainty of what was going to happen and what "could" happen definitely created a challenge for me. this road has not been an easy one. thank you. to those who have not heard: i do not know the status of whether or not they are still calling. i didn't think to ask when i took the 3 minute phone call standing in the rain, earlier day. i apologize that i could not help in that respect. the day is not over, and i sure as hek want to work alongside you all so my praying will not cease and my fingers/toes will not be uncrossed. i wish you all the best for now and thank you from the bottom of my heart, intime.:redbeathe
  3. rn7776-i think you are talking about the scripps website? yes, the program was posted for roughly five days. there was not a very large window to apply because of the wave of applicants. all of those in waiting, good morning! i had to break away from this forum yesterday evening because i was checking it all day yesterday. i agree that it is tremendously difficult not knowing. i am actually going to be in ekg class all day today (during hr working hours) and it is going to drive me nuts. haha. i have already alerted the instructor that i may be expecting a very important phone call and they are supportive. i want the phone call so badly. at this point, however, i can deal with a phone call or an email. what will send me into a surge of anxiety is not hearing anything by the end of tonight. going into the weekend with no answers would make for a not-so-nice weekend if you know what i mean! with that said, i hope patience and strength are on our sides today. i am hoping that we all hear some great news today and am sending nothing but optimism to all of you. to find such support on this forum has been wonderful and i want to extend my thanks to each of you! i'll end this with a rationalization: "well maybe they took those of us who got a position and are randomly selecting us in the order that they call..." -not sure why they would do that but they need to get their fun in somehow?! have a nice friday friends, intime.:redbeathe
  4. nicrn7-Not too sure how those phone calls are being carried out either. I thought that was interesting too. FYI-I removed the specifics on the positions because I don't think it is right nor my place to have posted them up. What if one of my friends wants to come on here and let everyone know the specifics themselves, ya know? That was silly of me and I don't want to damper hopes or steal anyone's thunder. But for now, I will definitely give you guys my personal specifics if I should get a call/email. Hopefully not the latter. I will say that I am not surprised that it is taking this long. Every single person I met on Wednesday was extraordinary... All in good time, InTime.:redbeathe
  5. SooperDooper, We love you.....A LOT. Haha. Thanks for sharing and know that we are all very excited for you! Thanks for the support along the way... InTime.:redbeathe
  6. I am going with the smallest number (30 positions) mentioned to us. Anything more is icing on the cake for me. You are somehwat correct...anywhere from 30-50. The hiring manager told us definitely 30 and maybe as many as 50. InTime.:redbeathe
  7. i was reluctant to share that info because i don’t want to damper anyone’s hopes at all. i’m sure there will be a flood of phone calls made tomorrow. we’ll see what friday brings, intime.:redbeathe
  8. my phone is very quiet too. the only email i have received is one from a fellow interviewee stating that she was offered a job within the last 1 ½ hours or so. this has definitely increased my anxiety level big time! so far, i only know of 4 people who have been offered jobs and i am very happy for them. :) i, however, must remain positive and perhaps share some other rationalizations to keep up spirits... -"i bet they are fighting hard to increase the number of positions for us!" -"maybe they are taking a reeeeally long lunch break today because of all the hard work." (they deserve it!) -"maybe the hr person has come down with laryngitis and has to rest that voice of hers in between calls." (quite a stretch and sure hope not.) …feel free to add your own… this is really hard, intime.:redbeathe
  9. Carreont & SarahLT_RN, I am glad I am not the only one with the "job agent" issue. I too think there was a glitch the other morning with 13 job notifications that all had the SAME jobs. toin43- I liked your comment. I was having the same thought around 5:00pm. Now, I am rationalizing the fact that they have only been working until 9:00am this morning and are "getting settled in." SunnyRN-Welcome to our little support system and thanks for the positive thoughts as we all NEED them! Unfortunately, I have no clue as to whether or not my references have been called. I did let them know ahead of time that they may be receiving a call from Scripps. :) Krisgrande-I am right there with you. This patiently waiting is proving to be difficult. I think I'll tell myself that "BY FRIDAY" means "ON FRIDAY" just so I can get through today. hehe. It does help waiting with all of you and hearing that you are going through the same thing. Anyway, I hope I either hear good news from one of you...or have some good news to share soon. Enjoy your day, InTime.:redbeathe
  10. Congratulations!! Best wishes to you in your new journey. Which hospital will you be working at? For those of us still waiting, I thought I would share the fact that I have a 2 second panic attack every morning when Scripps sends me the list of jobs that I am qualified for. Their "job agent" sure does get me. Hehe :) InTime.:redbeathe
  11. I have a list of hospitals that I want to work for. I bookmarked their residency pages and I check them religiously. Luckily, Scripps finally popped up and I filled out that application in milliseconds. I highly suggest bookmarking the residency pages because it is pretty efficient...at least for me. Good look with the search and keep positive! :) Start date: 4/11 and 4/18 I think. InTime.:redbeathe
  12. Nursesonchi-We are supposed to hear back by this Friday. I'll post once I know anything. I agree with Jojonavy on "I hope we all get the jobs at Scripps." From what I have witnessed on the forum thus far, we would make a very strong support system throughout the RN residency. Good luck to us all. :) ...back to patiently awaiting... InTime.:redbeathe
  13. No news over here yet. I will post the moment I hear anything. Best of luck to all of us! InTime.:redbeathe
  14. Hi there, I interviewed for a DOU at Scripps Mercy Hospital. I had the manager and assistant manager interview me. They were absolutely wonderful and very welcoming. SarahLT_RN, you made me laugh pretty hard when I read your comment about the email and the phone. LOL. I know EXACTLY what you mean. I am getting phone calls from people checking to see if Scripps has called me yet and each time I think it is "THE CALL." Hahahaha. As for my email, it has remained rather empty the last few days. *Crosses fingers and toes* I'm feeling good about what Tuesday has to offer. My phone is fully charged and waiting. Have a great day, InTime.:redbeathe
  15. Thank you very much for this. Not sure why, but this was one of the more difficult things to grasp in school! Haha. I think it would have been MUCH easier if I had raised a little one already! While I am done with the NCLEX, this is still very helpful. Thank you for sharing and have a great day! InTime.:redbeathe
  16. Hi everyone, I felt the interview went great and also agree that the other interviewees were outstanding. I can certainly see why it was so difficult to narrow us down. I am hoping and praying that we all get the positions of our dreams. I also feel very confident that they will open up more positions because we seemed like a great group. Woodsider-I saw your post before my interview. Unfortunately, there was an extra digit in the number you gave me. I tried about four different potential numbers and I got the wrong number for each of em. :-/ I also cannot PM anyone yet. I am sorry that we were unable to get in touch. Perhaps you can PM your email address and we connect somehow. :) Sooperdooper- Congratulations on getting a choice. I think you have great news coming your way. ...back to patiently awaiting... I hope you all have a great Sunday wherever you are, InTime.:redbeathe
  17. Hey there, I just arrived to San Diego from San Jose, CA. The drive was pretty long! :) I just thought I would jump on here to introduce myself and wish everyone the best of luck on their interviews. My interview is on Wednesday afternoon. Reading the posts thus far, it seems that most of us are having our first interviews this week! With that said, I just want to extend some positive vibes to you all and thank you for the support. :) InTime.:redbeathe (BSN because I think someone asked.)
  18. Hey everyone, I am a new graduate RN and I about choked on my grape from laughing at the survivor comment. Haha. If "survivor style" was the way to secure my chance at finally caring for patients you better believe I would sign up for that in a heartbeat! I too am facing challenges in my job search but know that it is only making me more resilient and stronger in the long run. (I do not believe that I am automatically entitled to a position post licensure, but I sure would like the opportunity to begin my nursing career and I am working hard towards it.) My question to the currently employed RNs: When I finally do secure a position and I work alongside you, what do you want to see? I cannot wait to start caring for my patients, building relationships with my team (you), and get going in my nursing career. I want to make sure that I hit the ground running and have the support of my fellow seasoned RNs along the way. After all, we are all in it together. Happy team=Happy patients, right? Have a wonderful day, InTime.:redbeathe
  19. Hi there, I was wondering the same thing! I am from California and am highly interested in working for a magnet institution. I applied for the June cohort as well. Unfortunately, I could not attend the open house because I was already registered for continued learning at Stanford Hospital. Was the open house packed full of us new grads? :) As far as I know, my application is complete too. I completed everything yesterday and my status currently says "Applied." At this point, I am patiently crossing my fingers and toes. Keep me posted if anything develops on your end and I wish you the best of luck for this residency opportunity! Have a wonderful day, InTime.
  20. I apologize for any confusion I may have caused. I was simply giving the information that I had received from HR regarding my personal situation but I can now see that it may have thrown some of you off if you were given a preliminary interview or experienced different circumstances other then myself (not hearing anything from Torrance since applying!) I intend to be more specific in the future. petitefleurRN and others that have landed a panel interview: That is wonderful!!! Congratulations on getting that special call. I wish you a very smooth interview. I am sending you all my optimism and positive vibes and hope you will secure a position in their stellar residency. Keep us posted and thank you for the continued support. InTime.:redbeathe
  21. petitefleurRN, I was never contacted to do a panel interview. I only received the formal rejection email on 2/7/11.
  22. Hey guys, Torrance sent me an email on 2/7/2011 letting me know that I did not make the cut. I called to speak with HR on 2/7/11. I was mainly calling to ask about another job posting that they have there but I grabbed some info about the program. She said there was an overwhelming amount of applicants and that it was a difficult decision. The HR rep told me that they were done making their selection for those who would be interviewed. She said that some selected individuals had to turn the interview down because they were already hired elsewhere. But even so, they had already contacted everyone that needed to be interviewed. She then referred me to a couple other hospitals in Los Angeles. (Note: I didn't give her my name but I was approaching her as a new grad that didn't make the cut.) Hope this helps. Our time will come. Keep on filling out those applications. The position of our dreams is waiting for us. All InTime. :redbeathe
  23. I spoke with someone from human resources on 1/25/11. I called them to ask a few questions. According to the lady that I spoke with, they will be taking 40 new graduates for the March 7th cohort and there had already been around 400 applicants at that time. I presume that they had a bunch more applicants in the last few days of the application period. I applied on the 1/21/11 and have not heard anything...yet. I wish all applicants the best and I hope we all get calls!
  24. Hi there, (A) I filled out the application without any issues. I did not have to fill out a questionnaire for my application. (B) I have not heard anything from them either. I was trying to get a hold of HR to find out what is going on but I had no such luck. :-/ -InTime.
