  1. Mel, Thank you so much for sharing the info. I have the book it's the 5 edition. I applied and they got back with me telling me I have a 60 day window to take the test. For me that leaves 45 days left I wish they would have told me this when I applied. Do you thind this enought time to study. The book has algebra and geometry. I will be taking the algebra and organic chem this spring at Waubonsee. I am wondering if I should just wait until I am done with those classes to take the test. I was told the math is mostly converstions, decimals and simple math. The book also has lots of word problems and only two practice exams. My plan was to redo the exams over and over and time my self. I do not want to blow it. The Olivets Naz accelerated program is 49K, Depaul,is also around the same price. I did my first bachelors in an accelerated format and I loved it. With a family it's better to sacrife 18 mths verses 2 1/2 years. Do you work while you are in school. Do you think one can handle the program and work at the same time. I worked while I did my bachelors in BA & my kids where younger and I did it. Yes, I had no social life but it was worth it. But everyone says nursing is SO hard. I want to know how it's going for you so far. . Please advice Also for those looking at Waubonsee and JJC remember that you have to live in the district or you cannot attend. Waubonsee does not have a night program. I called JJC to see if I could do the night and they said no. They take their in district people only for nursing
  2. Mel.....I want to attend Lewis badly because it's the only night bsn program. It is expensive but it's beats going to school another 3 years. School is stressful expecially you have th and the responsibility of the family. This will be my second career. The only problem is lewis gives you one shot at the tease and they said scores must be 85+. This scares me. I applied and I just need to take math, stats and organic chemistry. Any advice.
  3. Ok....This might be a stupid questions....But I always read books and I always to my homework do bad in tests. I got the kaplan book for the tease v and I have reviewed it. The math freaks me out since it has al ot of geometry, and algebra problems and I am not good in math. So if I understand the way to study is take the sample test of course review your errors and basically practice the same test over and over. Kind of memorizing the test. Read the science questions and understand and take practice test over and over. And of course focus on the areas listed on the thread. This might be a stupid question but not all of us have the skill set for standardized test. I do great on essays test but standardized test are not my thing. My gpa is over 3.5 so I am not dome.. But since I always do poorly on standardize test I am worried. I really want to be a nurse the school I am looking at only gives one chance to take the test and the scores must be over 85% or more to be considered. Since this is my second degree I can't screw it up. My last gen eds are math & stats for a bsn. Iknow hard work and prayers works too. For direct advice email me at [email protected] Thank You and god bless
  4. How did you study for the GRE. I have anatomy II and chemistry to take. So I was going to apply for the Spring. During the summer I plan to take the GRE and I heard it was hard. I have my BA from Elmhurst and my gpa was 3.18 and so far with the pre- req I am at 3.22 but I still have two more to go. Is anyone concern about cost????? I thought we get 0 grants and only loans 59K is like a mortgage payment and time are though. ?
  5. Who else can give me advice on cleping math. I test the sample test but not a study guide on the material. Blanca
  6. I am glad your y ou went back to school and are doig well I am just starting my second career and I want to do a BSN in nursing but I need to do my pre-req. I have a Bachelors in Business Administration and math scares me. I am thinking of doing CLEP for Math casuse if I do bad it does not affect my grades. Blanca
