  1. I wanted to thank the people that replied to my thread... I realize that he was just trying to get at me, but I guess I'm what you would call sensitive. That can both help me and hurt me in the job I chose to train for. I think I did the right thing by keeping my mouth shut... but I'm not sure if I'll be as nice the next time. I just have to keep in mind not to stoop to his level. Kandy
  2. I took the pharmacology ATI test for practical nursing and I was excited that I passed... well I passed with an 81% we only had to have a 40% to pass. I was talking to my friend and a fellow student came to stand with us, so my friend asked how he scored he only got a 77% and my friend told him that 77% was good. He said "Not really." My friend then told him what my score was. He got really huffy and said " Well that's just amazing... seeing as you didn't know what Lopid was." I admit when my instructor asked me what Lopid was I went totally blank... but that by no means makes me stupid when it comes to pharm. I can't stand that guy anyways he's cynical and he thinks he knows more than a lot of the other students. I didn't say anything to him even though I wanted to. That comment really ruined my whole day. What should I do in a situation like this. He's in my clinical group so I'm sure it won't be the last time this happens. Sorry for the super long post. Thanks in advance for any replies. Kandy
  3. it was the nursing school they said that, that is how the facilities want it done, because it saves money.
  4. I'm a nursing student, and today we were practicing changing wet-to- dry dressings and we were told that the only dressings that could "red bagged" were ones that were dripping wet with blood or flaking..... I for one think that is a biohazard and totally disgusting.... am I wrong to think that way?????? I was told the reason they did that was to "cut costs" do all facilties do this??? :stone Anyones opion will be very helpful. Thanks.
  5. I live in Anderson, Indiana
  6. I will never prechart... because I know it's wrong (thanks to my great instructors) I now realize how precharting could be a very bad thing. I sure would hate to have to up in front of the BON
  7. We went over the whole "don't chart it before you do it" in school during the first few weeks, but my question is how did the state find out that it was "precharted" ? If the nurses did the duty at the time they signed on the chart and it was done and charted what's the BIG deal... it's just something I don't get.
  8. I'm in practical nursing school right now, and I took phlebotomy over a 16 week course. I really enjoyed it. I think it's a good course to take. They do however train you to draw blood at some of the blood banks... (at least they do in Indiana) so if you were wanting to do this as a job I would find out what blood banks are offering the course before you spend your money.

  10. I'm attending practical nursing at the Anderson campus. I didn't need an interview. I can't believe they are going somewhat on age... that's awful. That's age discrimination pure and simle.Your science courses are going to time out? How long have you been trying to get in??? What are your PSB test scores... if you don't mind me asking. I really do hope you can get in.

  12. I'm currently attending Ivy Tech's Practical nursing program, to my understanding all you need to do is do well on the PSB test. If you don't do well the first time you may retake it . To take the ASN program you do have to both do well in your classes and the NET test. You DO NOT have to be an LPN first to go into the ASN program. There is a 2 year program for the ASN. However, you do have to be an LPN to go into the trasitional program. I hope this has helped you. You may need to apply to more than one campus to get into a program. Don't give up.... everything will turn out fine I'm sure.:) Chin up. Kandy ......

  14. I've not been in nursing school too long... but the pts that really tug on my heart strings are the mentally handicapped. It's so cute how they vie (sp?) for attention. I just want to hug them all and make them feel wanted and needed.
  15. My daughter had to go to the ER she had a plastic eyeball stuck in her nose. I can't wait till I'm done with PN school.... I want stories to tell...lol
