  1. Education is never a waste... Keep at it. I work F/T and I know many of my friends that have graduated with an ADN also work.. not everyone needs to work in a hospital either. Don't give up! You made it through nursing school, you can make it through this!
  2. Hi, I am considering Empire State as well. I have my ADN from a local CC in NY. All my documentation has been received by admissions (essay, transcripts, license, etc), and I am just waiting on acceptance for the January 2014 semester (RN-BSN). I would like to know how competitive it is to be accepted. I am assuming they get many applicants. I graduated with a 3.9 GPA. Thank you and best of luck!
  3. Same here: took it yesterday and Person Vue doesn't have my results available yet... But, when I look up my name on the NYS web site... there it is.. ahhh!! Feel's good!
  4. I hope so, because that is my game plan too. No way can I afford Kaplan right now. I also found a good app for my iphone, NCLEX Mastery. So, anyone out there pass without these expensive review courses?
  5. I would choose B.. You must consider the stem and address the priority in this specific circumstance. I agree with the OP..
  6. Look up Hypoxic drive and nurses make their own assessment of the patient once they arrive in the er. Removal of a NRB is to see how well the pt. is compensating on room air.
  7. Hi Divine, Sure.. I have a 4.0... and yes, it is days at Grant F/T. I'm not sure if I can put anyone at ease, but I was fortunate (in regards to academics, certainly not financially) in the fact that I was unemployed during my pre-req's, plus I have no social life, lol... I also took the Bio's without any other classes. I feel for my classmates that worked throughtout and have families... let me just say a GPA does NOT tell the whole story, not by a long shot.
  8. Thank you RET Sgt.. and good luck to you!
  9. I am in!!!! Got the invite for Grant admissions today F/T day... woo hoo!! Good luck you all of you!! Look forward to seeing you at the orientation!!
  10. She told me she had a 4.0 and was surprised to be wait-listed, but relieved she got in for the Spring 2011. Maybe it's more competitive in the Spring? But your right, I never saw her transcripts...just know her well and can't imagine her lying, kinda pointless...
  11. Buckeroo, I know a person with a 4.0 that was wait-listed as well, but eventually called into the program. I guess nothing is a guarantee here, so I hear ya on this. Are chances better for the day program? Fingers crossed...:)
  12. O2 is a medication... do you have standing orders to administer?
  13. and bring in a digital camera, as suggested on the other post... it works!
  14. Okay, just to let you know... I bombed the first practical in A & P 1, recovered and finished the class with an A... I loved lecture, dreaded lab. However, after the tissues and such, the material becomes more familiar. Hang in there, if you're obtaining a nice grade in lecture, you're golden. It will get better in lab...
  15. So there was an acceptance of applicants within of 3.8 - 4.0 range... pretty competitive. Thank you!
  16. Hi Steen, Thanks for the update. Quick question... when the Dean of Admissions at Ammerman said that last year's GPA was a 3.8., was he referring to the average GPA of the applicants? Or was 3.8 the highest GPA accepted? The wait is frustrating and I am now trying to decipher GPA's from one year to the next ;0) ... just spinning my wheels till the letter's get sent. Best of luck!!
  17. I also received the letter. Like you, I am also a matriculated student at SCCC (Liberal Arts). I called to confirm my HS transcripts were on record just to be sure. You can call the office or check your immuni. & transcript status via the SCCC portal (under student services/student records) I checked today and was able to see that my change of emphasis app. to the Nursing degree program has been processed. (located under student services..Admissions tab). And now we wait... ;0) Best of luck to you!
  18. I was told to expect a decision sometime in April/May. Not sure why it takes so long.
  19. Hello, I applied for SCCC Fall 2011 as well... Good luck to all! :)
