Arroyo announces 'NARS' for unemployed nurses
Well if you are going to work in the province then PHP 8,000.00 is ok I guess, it's definitely better than nothing. But look at the flipside, you'll be working ALONE, the sole medical personnel in a far-flung barrio or town.

Where To Buy Quality Scrubs
Try Applecare and Castel, you'll have to wait though if you want your own design or if they don't have available sizes.

Arroyo announces 'NARS' for unemployed nurses
Just saw the some government reps on TV discussing this program, they are only going to deploy 10000 nurses in a year, each nurse will receive a stipend of Php 8,000.00 which they claim "is not so bad."

March 2008 NCLEX support group
Nope didn't take the QT, just read their Strategy book and did the comprehensive from Saunders. On the practice tests for both books I averaged 50%-70%. Again good luck on your exam, I'm not going to let this result bring me down. I will do better next time.

March 2008 NCLEX support group
Read Kaplan and Saunders on my own, good luck on your test tomorrow! I'm not sure if I'm going to retake it again, maybe after another year or so. I'm not sad about it or maybe the gravity of the situation hasn't dawned on me yet, c'est la vie.

March 2008 NCLEX support group
OMG! 2 weeks left? Best thing for you to do is take on practice tests everyday, familiarize yourself with the questions and rationales. Reading the comprehensive review probably won't do you any good since you have a small amount of time left. Good luck!

north carolina application
I also submitted my application to NCBON, I just indicated in the application that the language used in our teaching was english, and reiterated that to the school registrar to indicate it in my transcript as well. CES is a requirement at NCBON.

how did you learn to deal with blood, et. al.?
Nothing is more refreshing than the smell of burning flesh in the morning, hehe, if the sight of blood affects you wait til you get to smell the smoke from a cautery. bloodytom is right, expose yourself enough and you might get used to it after a while. Imagine this, you have an ex-lap and the surgeon takes out a liter worth of hematoma from the abdomen and drops it in front of you. You just learn to accept them for what they are (they are just fluids) and hope to the heavens that none of them hit your face. As for me I just scrub in everyday, the smell from the cautery though still gets me nauseous sometimes.

My so called OR life
Hello everyone, somehow I found my way back here to the forum after a 2 year absence. Anyway, I've been working as an OR nurse here in Manila for almost a year now and I must say that the past few months have been hell for me. I've just come off from a 48-hour 3-day work week (24 hours first day, off day, 8 the next, 16 the following day) and I have the day off today but tomorrow I must report again for 5 more days. I think my supervisor is trying to kill me, you see I almost went for another 24 hours yesterday. I'm not sure if you could call it a staffing shortage but for some reason our super decided to allow 4 of our staff to go on vacation leave for 2 weeks all at the same time, leaving us with only 3-5 staff plus 2 head nurses on regular days. What's even more troublesome is the amount of major and minor cases we do in a day, we once had 26 cases using only 5 rooms from 7a-7p with only 7 staff including our HN's. Now some of our co-staff are beginning to resign, possibly to concentrate on being profs or study for exams. Good for them but they are also compiling an insane amount of AWOLs, leaving us even more under-staffed and over-worked. I'm almost at the end of my sanity as I dread another 5-day work week and am about to do 16 hours on my 5th day. I just had to vent this out, I'm sure there are much more horror stories out there some even sadder than mine.:uhoh3:
