  1. Who do you think is paying for your education? Not Obama...me, and all of the other hardworking taxpayers in this country!
  2. I'm with Clint...go ahead, make my day tomorrow! Romney/Ryan all the way!!!
  3. I'm also curious about jobs/wages in Florida, specifically the Pensacola area. I've been traveling for the last year, but want to settle down closer to home (Louisiana). Psych is my specialty. Any ideas?
  4. Does anyone have any experience with this facility in Dallas? Any info would be greatly appreciated! :nuke:
  5. Thanks, everyone, for your input. Any recommendations for travel nurse companies with Psych positions?
  6. So you weren't overwhelmed on your first assignment? What type of facility were you sent to? I would be so afraid to take an assignment with only 8 mos. med/surg. I left that hospital feeling like I had so much to learn!
  7. What about a Psych assignment? Do you feel that a year in Psych is enough experience?
  8. MSUnurse posted a topic in Travel
I am wanting to travel, but my experience includes 8 mos. Med/Surg and a year Psych. I love Psych and really don't want to do anything else. I would appreciate any input as to whether or not I have enough experience to travel. Also, recommendations as to companies who have a lot of Psych assignments would be greatly appreciated!
  9. I just checked the BON website again and I AM A FREAKING REGISTERED NURSE!!!!!!! I've been checking it almost every hour...checked it before I went to bed at 11:00 p.m...nothing. Woke up at 2:00 a.m. and checked for the heck of it, feeling stupid for checking at that hour...and THERE I AM!!!!!!! I'm in shock. I was positive I failed that test. OMG someone slap me and wake me up because I must be sleepwalking!!!!!!! MSUnurse, R.N. :smiley_aa
  10. Thanks so much for the encouragement, Suzanne.
  11. Thank you and CONGRATULATIONS!
  12. Good luck to you, too!
  13. Thanks so much. I did the search and found plenty of people who had 265. Seems like most passed, but I'm not letting that get my hopes up.
  14. Congratulations! No quick results available in CA, so I keep checking the BON website q 2...haha!
  15. Took NCLEX-RN today and OMG I'm freaking out. I can't believe I sat there for nearly 6 hours and had to answer that many questions. There were so many things I've never heard of...surgeries...drugs! It was horrible! Who else had that many questions, and did you pass or fail? I'm tired of searching through all the different posts. 16. I'm graduating in December (2 more months!) and am going through a bit of a dilemna. My original plan was to work on a Med-Surg floor for at least a year just to get some general experience and figure out what I want to do. Being 47 years old, however, I'm a little concerned about being able to hold up to the physical demands. Last week, for example, I had to help move a 300 lb. total knee patient from the bed to the bed side commode, and it put a real strain on my back. I've been in a couple of auto accidents over the years and have some back problems--not to mention a torn medial meniscus. Am I being unrealistic in thinking I can handle nursing on a Med-Surg floor? Is it hard to get into a specialty area as a new grad? I've been thinking a lot about psychiatric nursing, too, but have no idea how to get started in this field. Any input will be greatly appreciated! BTW - I realize this is more of a general question rather than geographical, but I'm moving to CA after graduation and this is where I usually post.
  17. Are they offering sign-on and relocation assistance? What is the starting pay and shift differential for new grads?
  18. I have to agree. I live in Louisiana and will be moving to California when I graduate in December. I spent 5 years in Huntington Beach several years ago, and I made friends easier there than I do here in Louisiana. I miss California...the scenery, the weather, and the diversity. I don't care if I have to pay $1200-$1500 in rent. It will be well worth it to me. I, too, have experienced a few earthquakes, but at least I didn't have to evacuate like I did last September when Hurricane Rita hit. Also, I know drugs are a problem everywhere, but they are rampant here in Louisiana--even among professionals. I'm so ready to leave this place. California here I come!
  19. Exactly why I decided against moving to Austin. I lived there before and loved it, but I found out they're starting new grads out at around $20/hr., and that's the same as here in Lake Charles, Louisiana. The cost of living is considerably higher in Austin, too! I was pretty bummed out about that.
  20. Thanks, Kristi! Definitely helps--I'm making index cards on some of these to help me prepare for NCLEX.
  21. Could someone please explain? Thanks!
  22. What type of patients on the 5th and 8th floors?
  23. I've been obsessing again about moving to California and came across this live webcam of Huntington Beach. Thought you might like to check it out: http://www.surfcity-hb.org/Visitors/beach_info/LiveBeachCondition.cfm
  24. How do you like it, Nursepearl?
