  1. Did you ever move? Could you answer your own questions for.e? I'm planning a move. Ext Summer and want to apply for RN positions paying for relocation and have no idea when to apply or how long they will give me to relocate. Thanks!
  2. I didn't think they would even be looking at it until they were processing march apps but maybe doing it online and the livescan is a shortcut?
  3. Just updating. I got my RN license number 4 weeks after applying online. Did the livescan in CA last week and the license number showed up the next day.
  4. Hey just wanted to update. I did the online app on Mar 22, sent my transcripts Mar 23rd and my livescan Apr 15th. I got my RN license number on Apr 16th! Less than a month for processing. The online app and livescan def sped up the process.
  5. Wow ? that was so quick! Was not expecting that at all!
  6. This can't really be it can it?! It's only been a little over 3 weeks since I applied online and I barely got my livescan done a few days ago?! I just checked Breeze website and a license # showed up so I went to Nursys and it's there! It says they're still processing apps from Feb 1-15, is this official?
  7. Yeah agreed. Hopefully those deficiencies will show up sooner than later so you can get started. I can't speak for NV or OR although the more urban cities in OR are very expensive, and cost of living is high. I live in Northern AZ in a ski resort college town, it's pretty expensive here to live. A one bedroom here goes for $1375. There are several places in AZ that are more affordable like Phoenix and it's suburbs, Cottonwood, Prescott. The average median home cost in AZ is $241k. However the housing market right now has increased properties values so what you would normally get for that is now selling for $320-400k. The new grad RN rate where I live Is $29/hr. With experience they start at ~$32. Hospitals pay more than home health or outpatient facilities. Mayo Hospital is probably the best in Az as far as pay, they are a Magnet hospital. The Banner hospitals are also well respected.
  8. It's better if you're not In a rush because the obsession of always checking their site is insane ?. I still have to finish my home remodel then put it on the market. Ideally if we could move to CA before the fall school year that would be amazing but I doubt things will move that quickly for us.
  9. Yeah I still have to do my fingerprints with livescan. They're processing Feb 1-15 apps for US ?. My app is a month away from their processing dates.
  10. Hey good luck! I'm US trained and also just applied last week for endorsement in California. I'm worried about needing an oral communication class as that wasn't required for my nursing program. Getting my finger prints done with livescan in CA on Friday. I'm currently living in AZ but originally from long beach, CA.
  11. Did you end up needing to take a communication course? If so what did you take?
  12. The website says the correct email to electronically send them is [email protected]
  13. Do you think I should go through the trouble of changing my last name at the nursing school I went to? The transcripts are under my maiden name and I don't want them to get lost.
  14. LBC RN, what does the VA pay in CA? Their salary range posted is so variable.
  15. Have you received your license yet? I just applied today, just waiting on the livescan forms to be emailed to me and send in my transcripts. I am worried that because my maiden name was used during school that the BRN will lose them. Should I change my name with the school before requesting transcripts? Thanks!
  16. Thank you! I did the app online. Waiting on them to email my livescan forms and then just need to send in my transcript. I hope they send the livescan forms quickly so I can make the drive to CA asap! ?
  17. Do I have to have the app done before doing livescan? The website makes it seem like I can't fingerprint until the app is sent in.
  18. Thank you so much! Do you know if it makes a difference doing the application online? Or sending it by snail mail?
  19. Vegasscout, do you have to have everything in the application done before doing the livescan? Or can you do that anytime in the process? I live in AZ. Also, do they only want ADN transcripts? I have my BSN and MSN as well. And can I send the official transcripts with my application? Or does the school have to send them? Do we need to use the transcript request on the application or can I just order them online from my school and have them send it to me so I can send with my completed app? Thanks!!
  20. I agree I just dont know any APNs who work in a rural area.
  21. Congrats! That is amazing and you should feel so proud and accomplished! Next step..job hunting. Good luck to you and thank you for the tips!I won't be graduating until 2020 but I will save this!
  22. Hey all! I am in an MSN- FNP program. I have a scholarly paper due in August that requires me to interview (casually) an APN who works in a rural health care setting OR works with a population with health disparities. PM me if you can help me out :) TIA! Info needed for paper include: -identify their role, qualities and characteristics, advanced skills they exhibit in their role -Examine their role, duties, educational preparation, and background and give an example of how their position/role impacts patient care -Analyze any practice issues related to ethical issues in the deliveryof health care in the setting. -Explain the impact of advanced nursing practice in light of current health economics in thissetting
  23. Started my first class June 5th and loving it! FNP at Northern Arizona University.
  24. I feel the same way, also on a med surge/ tele unit. I have looked at several jobs openings in my area and even applied for some. Always had to decline because the pay was so much lower than i make now. Like $10 lower. I can't take a paycut. I am hoping to drop down to pt or prn in the next year. So far classes are really easygoing and not stressful butI know once clinical start I will not be able to work at all. Good luck to you, it all depends on location and I am in a small town, so for now i am stuck here. I have heard private practices like dermatology or ob are super chill but again big paycut.
  25. I put all my eggs in one basket. I decided I only wanted to go to my hometown school because it was close and they place you with oreceptors. I didn't want to waste my time with the online for profit schools esp with the reputation they come with. I live in a small town and know many NPs that didn't get a job because they went to Chamberlain or Maryvale, etc. Luckily i apploed just a week before the deadline. I have a 3.97 GPA, no gre required and had 2.5 years experience with a rockin essay. I got in and start in 4 days! I couldn't be happier and glad I only applied here. If I hadn't gotten in I just would have waited until the next year to reapply. I love my school.
