I had a great orientation at Shady Grove. Kudos to the staff and faculty! I feel welcomed, quite overwhelmed with the info and to be honest intimidated with the workload that the current student talked about but am confident that there're supports I can fall back to. The class seemed very diverse but quiet. Hopefully, later we'll get comfortable to chime in. Looking forward to start!!

jjjoy had a great point of making it your selling point. Personally, I would leave off the master's degree. The 1 1/2 months experience is debatable. I had no formal CNA nor healthcare experience when applying for a CNA job at a hospital. I put one week clinical training in my resume but I think Pre-nursing in my education section got me to an interview session when I told the nurse manager about caring for a family member for 6 months and got me the job.

I've tried but the farthest I could go to set up an account as 1st time user it said no match of my record. I believe I'll have to wait until the hold is removed?? So I did email class registration form. For Shady Grove, I did send/email a copy of CPR and med history to Kathie Dever and PPD to Leslie Ricks in addition to a copy to Student Health. Don't forget the HIPPA form!

You can find BLS for healthcare provider class on AHA site. Many Options (time and location) from now until Jan 12th, 2011. Below is the link for classes in MD. You can also search by radius. With my CNA license, I've been working as a CNA for one hospital and recently got a PRN job as PCT with another. It depends on the hospital how they title and assign tasks to the position. They said as a PCT, I'd be doing EKG which I don't do as CNA. But these 2 units are different types of nursing.

Hi GreyLady, SURF will be down until Nov 29th. I haven't received the official acceptance letter yet and wonder whether we would be able to pay deposit online. When is the deadline to pay the deposit? And anyone yet got the letter? Thanks.

This sounds confusing. I'd suggest you clarify with the Admission office. I got accepted to Spring 2011 as Provisional-Admit. I asked the lady who called to congratulate me on the acceptance. She confirmed that my last pre-reg, Microbiology must be B and above. My science GPA without Microbiology is 4.0.

You might have to retake the class. They require science pre-req grade to be B or above.

I took A&P 1 and 2 last summer. MC breaks summer into 2 5-week sessions. You'll go to class everyday Mon-Thu. Friday is off. Don't know about Chem or stat but Microbiology is offered in summer.

I got the phone call and online Admit status but am still waiting for the official letter.

Thanks bsnbear! This is very helpful!! When you said "you will find out your lab assignments at orientation.", does it mean we'll get to choose our lab hours at orientation? Would there be many time slot option for lab? thanks again.
