I called today and I was able to speak to the recruiter. She even knew who was calling because I didn't give her my name and she addressed my by my last name. So just keep calling and you will get through.

Took nclex today
To be honest with you, I didn't have many pharmacology questions. My questions consisted of knowing what the drug was used for, adverse side effects, And also knowing the brand name or generic name. I studied all the different classes of drugs and picked out commonly used drugs. Memorized the suffix of each class, and came up with mnemonics for side effects and uses. Exam cram was my favorite study tool, especially the online simulated Nclex practice. It did a shut off test similar to the nclex, but it showed you what areas you needed to focus on more. Or you could study area specific. I wish you the best of luck, The NCLEX is one of those exams that people either believe it was easy or difficult. I wouldn't stress over the Pharm questions though...you got this.

SATA=Select All That Apply. I had a TON of SATA when I took the NCLEX. I cried when I walked out of the test, only to get the good pop up when I got home. :) Congrats!!

All of them, lol. I think this interview is for southwest on the med/surg unit. I applied to over 200 jobs in like 2 weeks. I only got a few rejections then I got two calls today. But I am so excited to interview. Good luck to you!

Memorial Hermann June 2012 Internship is up
I just endorsed my license to Texas from Cali and have applied with MH. Not quite sure I qualify as a GN because I have worked for 6 months in a LTC, but it's worth a shot. I finally received my temp license and not sure if that will get my foot in the door. I too have my fingers crossed and hope it's not too long. :) I am ready to move back to Houston already. Good luck to you all!!

"struggling" with med pass
Hello~ I too work for a nursing home and have learned how to efficiently pass meds. I work the PM shift and have about an hour to prepare for my med pass before meal time. I just prioritize. Who needs to be medicated first (pain, diabetic, bed/chair bound, etc.), then I move on to my ambulatory residents (It's hard to keep up with them while they are wandering about. :) When I clock-in, I get report, count NARC's, make my rounds to assess my residents so I know who needs meds first. Then I start my hour of prep restocking my med cart with my essentials and checking my charts for any treatments or issues that need my attention. It used to take me about 2 hours to pass meds and now I have narrowed it down to an hour and a few minutes depending on the residents that evening. When you learn what your resident likes and requires you will be able to make it happen faster, as well as build a relationship with them. I love it now when my residents tell me "Good night, I love you!" or when the ones who don't speak just want a hug. I know that I have done my job right. :)
