In most states there are regulations which mandate who can use the word " nurse" and the last time I checked LVN/LPN and RN are the only two professionals who can call themselves nurses. maybe the next time someone says something about LPN/LVN not a nurse then maybe you can point their ignorance?

weekly summary is usually dictated by the state regulations but what specifically written is not mandated. I think it just says something about update/progress/decline of status.How I do mine; go through the care plan and address the goals on each problem or care plans hopefully by doing that you have addressed all the problem--at least active problem or diagnosis. If the state regulation and the hospital policies allows LVN to be in-charge then there is really no problem with it. I know of many LVNs who are competent in their work more than some RN's so frankly I don't see any issues with it. remember it is not the initials after their names but rather the person him/herself that counts.

It is not circumventing the rule, rather just arguing the point that if other accrediting organization have given your foreign education an equivalency to the US curriculum then CA BRN must be incorrect for not recognizing your foreign BSN.I think it is still worth a try. whats to lose anyways, right?

-----I am a filipino,came to the America young, lives in the US, got a degree in the US ( pyschology ) and philippines( nursing ) and I am basing my answer on not only my personal experience but also on other facts:Not on emotion nor pride. because I am proud to be a filipino. Number one fact:, if our educational system is considered to have any value, why is it that anywhere else doesnt not give our degree an iota of value? fact number two; if our educational system is "excellent" why is our education obtained in our country is not given any worth? fact number 3: And if our philippine education has value, worth or of excellence in foreign countries why is it that despite our being "educated' and "excellent" ---filipino nurses, teachers, lawyers, and doctors are working as caregiivers, janitors, and other menial workers. the truth is the education we have obtained in the philippines are only valued in the Philippines---with few exceptions such as nurses who have to jumped hoops to be recognize in other countries. Go anywhere else outside of the Philippines rarely will you find and be recognize that the Philippines having excellent education.

JUST CURIOUS; has anybody had their transcripts or philippine education evaluated either by CGFNS credential evaluation service or others before sending to CA. BRN? It might just be useful, since the credential evaluation supposedly compare the foreign education against US education. theoretically once a credentialing service accredits your degree/educational theoretically then what it is saying is your foreign education is equivalent to the US education. in that matter BRN will have a problem declining your application using that excuse.

While it is true the Philippine RN BSN curriculum have more units/hours compared to the US( mostly associate degree ), the evaluators does not only look and compares between the number of hours but importantly the quality of the education. sad to say, the Philippine educational system in general, does not have the reputation of excellence.

Their is no such thing as "US BSN curriculum " in the Philippines educational system. We have one curriculum for the bachelors in Nursing which is a 4 ( 5?)year degree. BTW, US BSN curriculum is also 4 years. The ASN or associate degree is 2 years, but with the pre requisite it usually comes to about 3-4 years.

it looks like NC-CLEX have CA BRN # which suggest that their classes have some sort of approval however the BLS and ACLS are not American heart association accred which most hospital still wants to see.

Ideally it would be to your benefit if you have a few years actual nursing experience prior to pursuing a graduate nursing degree.However with the work situation being poor at this time, getting a higher degree would be the only logical way for anyone to do while waiting for this economy and job situation to change. bets being a drunk , useless or worthless?

KNOW YOUR STUFF(NURSING FOUNDATION, ANATOMY, PHYSIOLOGY,PATHOPHYSIOLOGY, ETC.), LEARN TO UNDERSTAND QUESTION/ANSWERS AND TEST TAKING TECHNIQUES, ANALYZE/CRITICALLY THINK QUESTIONS/ANSWERS PRIOR TO ANSWERING. 5. Take one or take two? TAKE ONE. STOPPED AFTER ANSWERING 75 QUESTION--AFTER 28 MINUTES!

so what are the chances for a USRN to get hired at Chong Hua?
