How do I get involved in Alternative/Holistic nursing?
I became a raw food nutrition specialist and lifestyle coach. You'll have to make your own job however you can look into energy healing, herbalogy, etc. I was a western nurse for a lot of years and, like you, have moved into an alternative arena where I feel I'm giving people valuable information and assisting them to take control of their health. There's a ton of stuff out there.

I Hate Dialysis
10 patients is a dream for most LTC's. Most that I've heard of had 20-over 30 residents! Good luck in your new endeavor!

Thinking of taking a DON offer
Update: I just had a very long conversation with the administrator on the phone and they're going to fly me over for a visit. I fully expect this to be a challenge but isn't that what life is all about? No risk no gain. Right? (applause)

Thinking of taking a DON offer

Thinking of taking a DON offer
WOW! You're scaring me folks. I'm thinking of accepting a DON offer because I'm pretty burned out in acute (many years in ICU/ER/management) and thought it would be FUN! Can anyone here tell me what they like about their job? I mean, staffing and personalities can always be a challenge but their must be decent administrators out there??

Any entreprenurial nurses out there?
My passion is having a lot of fun while earning! I'm pretty diverse - raw food nutrition specialist, that kind of thing. But all that aside, I used to give talks on health to the townsfolk while I was living in a little coastal town in Oregon and LOVED it. It didn't pay the rent but I had a ball!

Nurse Recruiter??
Any ideas on finding a good recruiter? Can anyone recommend someone? Thanks in advance.

What makes a good ICU nurse??
I've been in ICU across the country for about 20 years. Stay calm so your brain works. Find an experienced ICU nurse and they will let you know when to rush like a maniac. Never stop asking questions because the key here is to learn. You can always take an antiemetic when nausea strikes. You sound like you'd be an excellent ICU nurse. Follow your heart :)

Any entreprenurial nurses out there?
I just went to a seminar and am all hyped up. I think it is time for us to get down to business. I've been in ICU, management, legal nurse consulting and all that crap for 20 years and think it is time for a change. Anybody out there interested in brainstorming about business ideas? Working for themselves as RN's?

LTC big dogs at the top
It's up to the nurses to set standards and stick to them. I've come to see that if it weren't for nurses many patients would be left to rot.

I don't think I can handle this!
Sounds like your place is lacking strong nurse leadership and a nursing voice.

When will they change the name???
Hey, we are Registered Nurses and that goes a long way these days. Be PROUD of your accomplishment! The female connotation of 'nurse' is over. After 20 odd years in this profession traveling from coast to coast I say "Welcome Guys!" You are valuable to the profession.

How many females are "peeking" in this forum?
Add me to the list. LOL Personally, I love working with ALL nurses who are fun.
