  1. What's the facebook link for the 2013 cohort? I'm tentatively looking at the 2014 cohort--pending my husband gets stationed in the D.C/VA area (active-duty USAF). Looks like an incredible program! Would like to hear more about it as students progress. Wishing you all the best and congrats on your acceptance!
  2. Yeah, I spoke with admin. You can only apply if you're living in the particular states the program is being offered. Bummer. Hit a brick wall again.
  3. I'm revisiting WGU because I am finding it increasingly challenging to attend a nursing program (husband active-duty with the USAF). We are currently stationed in England and will be stationed in Montgomery, AL in July. My biggest question is regarding the clinicals. Is it possible to travel to one of their clinical sites? Are clinicals completed in blocks or are they integrated throughout the entire program? If completed in blocks, how many are there and how long do they typically last? Finally, those of you that have been through/or are going through the prelicensure program--did you feel prepared for the NCLEX? What do you think?
  4. Hey Folks, Looking for some feedback on the ADN program. Lot of good and not so good feedback out there... Looking for straight and honest answers. My husband is active-duty with the USAF, so it's been challenging for me to find a nursing program I can complete internationally and with relocating every 2-years. 1. I'm an NREMT-B with a B.F.A, core nursing prereq's completed and 10+ years of varied clinical experience from EMS, Fire, SAR, surgery, PICU, ER, OB/GYN, L&D and public health. Hoping I qualify? 2. I understand clinicals are not required. Interesting. I understand the CPNE is the 'clinical' aspect. However, will the school assist with placements/community-based clinical rotations? 3. Current cost of this program? 4. NCLEX pass rate? 5. Students feel prepared? 6. Folks having difficulty finding work? Being accepted with this education? 7. How do you know what states will not accept Excelsior grads? Not sure how crazy I am about spending a great deal of time, effort and money on an education that will not be accepted everywhere... Yet, it's accredited by NLN? 8. Required prereq's prior to admission? Enroll at anytime? Couldn't find specifics online/catalog. Thank you!
  5. I just found out about this school and was confused by their admission and application dates. No deadlines mentioned. I'm assuming I've already missed the deadline for the Second Degree BSN program that will start May 2013?
  6. I'm interested in pursuing the 2nd Degree BSN in 2013. I would love to hear from current students about this program. Additionally, if there are any military folks participating. My husband is active-duty with the USAF. We are currently stationed in England will be in Montgomery, AL July 2013 for 1-year. Looking at communting from Montgomery to Atlanta for this program... Hybrid is a plus for the long-distance commuter! Dont' know where we'll be stationed after Montgomery, but I GREATLY appreciate that this is a "military friendly college". I sent an email inquiry yesterday and will plan to hopefully follow-up with a phone call today. Some questions: 1. Are the ACT/SAT and A2 Admissions Assessment waived for the Second Degree BSN program? 2. Enroll at anytime? No prereq's? 3. Are they good with transfering prior courses taken? 4. Depending on program schedule, I'd plan to commute from AL to Atlanta (closest site). Is this feasible? How often are labs/clinicals? 5. NCLEX pass rate with this program? 6. I understand this program (BSN) "varies by location"? Not offered at all locations listed on the website? My husband and I are discussing where he could potentially be stationed in the U.S (if we remain stateside after AL) and therefore it is important to know what other locations this program is offered. 7. If the program is 3.25 semesters. How does the semester system work with their 8/16 week schedules? How long does it typicaly take to complete this program (2nd degree)? 1.5 years? Thank you!
  7. Hmm...interesting no one has responded to this post... I'm hoping to start this program in 2013. I'd love some feedback from current students and graduates regarding the program. The website/catalog indicates this prorgram "varies by location". So, the 2nd Degree BSN is not offered at all locations? If not, what locations is it offered at? I'm hoping to start the program in Atlanta. My husband is active-duty with the USAF, so I need a program that will be flexible with the military lifestyle. Out of ALL the nursing programs I have looked into, this one by far looks the best, with understanding the military lifestyle.
  8. Thanks. Just found this information out. Too bad... Not going to work for me.
  9. I just disovered this program. I understand it just started this year (12'). It sounds great, but I'd like more details, (which are not on the website). I filled out the info form and was able to locate a direct email for a program admin, as I currently live in England. My husband is active-duty with the U.S Air Force, so I REALLY, REALLY need a program that can relocate with us--thus the interest of the program being online. We'll be stationed in AL for 1 year as of July 2013. Questions: 1. Can this program be completed out-of-state? How often are the labs on-campus? 2. When do clinicals start? Must be completed in Burlington or community-based? 3. Can you just pursue the BSN component or are your required to go MSN and specialize? 4. If you're required to complete MSN, are you able to specialize in a field other than admin or neo? I would be most interested in FNP. 5. What are people's thoughts on the cost of this program? Each phase BSN and MSN is $50k+. Ouch! Are scholarships offered? Good finiancial aid for those that already have a Bachelor's? (Big problem I ran into with other programs). 6. Anyone currently going through this program? I'd like to hear more feedback on what the program is like. Thanks!
  10. Wow. That's awesome. Know this post was a few years ago now... how did you go about getting this scholarship? Where did you find it? Trying to discover similar... Thanks.
  11. I've been accepted too! Yeah! P.S-I couldn't find the Facebook page either?
  12. Please tell me more about the full-scholarship. Is it posted through the Jefferson School of Nursing website? How would I learn more about it/apply? Thanks!
  13. I've been directed to post on this website in regards to hopefully connecting with some future classmates:) I'm super excited to have been accepted into this program and I would love to hear from you! Little about myself. I've been working towards being a nurse for the past 9 years. With moving quite a bit, it has been a challenge and a hassle to focus on a school and a program. I am currently living in Colorado and will be relocating to Philadelphia in May, after I complete Spring semester (final 2 outstanding courses). I have 9-years of diverse medical experience throughout the U.S and abroad. I am certfied as an EMT. I currently work at The Children's Hospital in Aurora in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit as a Clinical Assistant. I am 32-years old and my undergraduate is in art (Bachelor's of Fine Art). I studied photography. Got my first job in the medical field as a Video Technician in Surgery at River Oaks Hospital in Jackson, Mississippi. Fell in love with the medical field and have had various jobs ever since! I want to become an RN in order to further my medical knowledge, have more job opportunities and above all take care of people in their time of need. My dream job is to work with Doctor's Without Borders. I am incredibly interested in global health initiatives and working in developing countries. Please be in contact if you will be a part of the FACT BSN program at Jefferson in 2011! Would love to meet some classmates. Also, trying to figure out housing... Would be great to connect with folks a head of time. Valerie
  14. Congrats on your acceptance! Me too! I just posted a reply to the original thread. I'm from Colorado and looking to connect with future classmates. I'm trying to figure out housing too... Please drop me a line! Would love to chat!
