  1. I received 2 Fs at a community college that were replaced by an A and a C. My current school does not respect the grade replacement policy and used both grades to calculate my cumulative GPA. The first time I applied, I was rejected. The 2nd time, I explained the circumstances of the Fs in my essay and was accepted 'with conditions'. You can't hide it, there's no way around it, so figure out a way to explain why it happened. Don't stress, you'll get in. ?
  2. I completed the BSN program at UAB. It was challenging, but doable. They are big on APA formatted research papers and discussion posts. Almost every class had a research paper or teaching project of some sort. I found the teachers really know their stuff and are extremely supportive. I am currently in the ANP MSN program at UAB and would recommend it to anyone.
  3. I was contacted by a recruiter in reference to Southern University's on-line program. She told me that only 2 of my graduate courses from UAB would transfer. I stopped the conversation at that point. I refuse to spend additional time and money taking courses that I've already successfully passed at a reputable university. I'm glad she was honest with me because the opportunity to complete FNP vs my current ANP was initially very tempting.
  4. UAB Adult/Gero NP Work FT for 1st year / quitting when clinicals start School PT Excited/anxious/Ready :)
  5. Hi, I'm in Florida, too. My advisor also encouraged PT status. She states that the classes are extremely demanding and anyone with FT work responsibilities and a family may be more successful PT. Of course, there are always going to be students who can manage it all. I accepted the PT position so I can pay my first 3 semesters out of pocket. I plan to stop working once clinical hours are required. I wish you success no matter which path you choose.
  6. Yes. I have it. Thanks. :)
  7. Has anyone gotten info about the drug screen or background check, yet?
  8. I have already taken NUR601 and NUR602. I thought they would change my POS so I could take at least 2 classes per semester, but they didn't.
  9. I am an AA Primary Adult Care NP student starting this fall and scheduled to graduate Fall 2014. BRAVO to all of us for advancing our education. I wish you all success. :)
  10. I was elated to find a packet for admission into the PT Track of Adult Primary NP at UAB. I was rejected in Spring 2010, so this is exciting news :) I've already taken 2 of the required courses so I will be able to keep working for the 1st year. If you were rejected, don't let it prevent you from reapplying... you may be accepted when you least expect... True story!
  11. Letters have definately been mailed. I received my REJECTION letter today. I still wish you guys the best of luck with this process. :)
  12. I just can't believe we haven't heard anything, yet. I know we will soon be laughing (or crying) about this whole ideal, but I just wish it was over already. Surely they realize we are suffering in the uncertainty of not knowing. They must have considered the fact that those who will be accepted must get on with registering for next semester and those who are not must go on with their lives and initiate "Plan B" (or in my case "Plan C"). I am checking this blog 3-4 times daily just to see if one of you has received a letter, yet. I will definately post when I receive mine, until then...the anxiety continues.
  13. I was definately "WOWED" by this thread. I am a hospice nurse in Florida. I work EVERY weekend and EVERY holiday on-call for a large national hospice. I have 5 years hospice experience, I am certified in hospice and palliative care, and I have 2 years oncology experience. I am currently being paid $26/hour (including $0.50 for being certified). I am a RN and I have worked continuous care, case manager, admissions, inpatient unit, and on-call for hospice. I do feel that I am underpaid for the experience and skills I possess and services I provide, but when I am with the patients, it seems to balance out.
  14. I haven't heard anything either. Worry, worry, worry. Either way it goes, I need to know, because I'm getting sick just thinking about the possibility of not being chosen. Your chances are way better than mine I have a 3.0 gpa, only 413 on MAT, and 7 years nursing experience. But I still want the official word so I can make a plan for my life. Good luck to all of you.
  15. txrn10, Congrats on your acceptance to USA! At least you have options. :)
