  1. I did like you..I was sitting in my office after a 6 year marketing career going "ok what is my purpose in life" and looked at various careers and determined that nursing was a good fit for me. Trust me when I say when u first come in that you will have all this driven passion, but as you go along in the program and start seeing how u can really make a difference with someone stay at the hospital u change. It's a long grind, but here I am with 5 months to go. The job market is closed period, so the competition is fierce.my reccomendations is to volunteer at a hospital, then when in school look for an externship this the most critical thing to try and get..at the huge hospital chain here in southern CA it is known that they are only hiring externs..if u can't get that then look at a PCA job..ok good luck, stay organized..and just go for it!
  2. Look at accelerated nursing degrees in your area, since you have a degree you can get into an accelerated BSN or MSN. I dropped a 7 year career in automotive marketing to go back to school. After all the stress etc. still the best decision I ever made. See what classes your missing to apply and see what ur community college has to offer. Best of luck!
  3. Academic crime..haha how melodramatic
  4. if you live in CA it couldn't be more accurate, maybe and hopeful not in your area, but here it is the reality
  5. Before u know it u will be done, don't be nervous, you have a better idea what to expect and stay positive, it's not forever even though it feels like it
  6. I read too fast I was thinking Maric College..the other I don't know about..can you crash the classes at the CC..that's what folks where I live do
  7. Never ever go to Merritt College, stick with your doubts
  8. ...but seriously, what are you trying to say
  9. Uhhhhhhh...sure
  10. I love all the conspiracy theorists on here with ZERO idea of her actual situation..so typical of the posters on here..20% common sense posts and 80% ridiculous..re-read your post..you'll know if I am talking to you or not
  11. Calm down, don't take it so personally
  12. You could not said this more perfectly, nailed it...now if only those that spout off about how many schools they got accepted into, how great their grades are and scanning these threads to pass their "I haven't graduated yet but act like I'm a seasoned nurse" advice will stop typing about themselves long enough to read what you wrote.. OP I had a B average and will be a APN in 6 months...keep at it, good luck
  13. Great point..if I was you I'd just be an observer until you graduate
  14. Really bro..you are seriously asking this..lil creepy
  15. Here's my advice..if your school runs a commercial during the Maury Povich Show you should not go to school there
  16. I want to weep, finally a poster who speaks clear and common real life sense..thank you, there are some people on here who apparently have lived a mistake free life and love to pull the "hear my wrath" card a little too often..usually means insecurities..but thank you, nice work! :)
  17. There are core classes u have to take, go to the schools you are interested in and look up what classes are required in order to appy. Also find a local hospital and try to sign up to be a volunteer, that will be a good experience for you and look great on the application. I already had a degree so I had about half my pre-reqs done from this, but it took me about 1.5 years to get my other ones done and now I have 7 months to go to graduate from an accelerated msn program. Also once you get in start looking for an externship, if you can't get that then at least get a CNA/PCA/TP position(there are a bunch of names for this)..it's all about getting in the hospital system, opens up to you all the internal nursing positions for when u graduate..here in Southern CA the competition is fierce..ok if u have more questions I can shoot you my email..start digging around online on the school sites, nursing is hard work but really rewarding
  18. Just quit looking at it, you can tell by her response I annoyed her which just means my point made it through,so good enough for me..off to a Halloween party
  19. Like I said dramatic people being overly dramatic..OP take the realistic advice from posters who speak common sense and ignore all this "you could have killed someone" talk..ok moving off this thread...OP best of luck to you..
  20. This site cracks me up..everyone is so dramatic..OP you are taking all the coments very well,no you should not be on probation that's ridiculous, you're a student this is how you learn just the same as those who are RN's now did when they were in school..unless somehow they mastered nursing before starting school
  21. Honestly the one and only time I havejumped in the air numerous times..so congrats
  22. I think they could have worded their response a little better but if you are going to post on here and get offended if you don't get the exact canned answer you want, at least respond maturely. If you can't take that post then trust me your fellow students will eat you alive in nursing school as well the nurses on the floor..you haven't seen competition until nursing school
  23. I did the same as the poster above, took pre-reqs night for a year and a half while working at my prior career...got into a 2year accelerated masters program and got 7 more months to go..this last 3years has felt like 10 but the best decision I ever made, best of luck
  24. If u have a degree u have options..if you don't yet take a look at azuzsa pacific..I don't go there but seems to be a really good school..accelerated and little easier to apply..least check them out..best of luck, I know the drain of trying to get into school in San diego
