Jeff State 2011 Fall Hopefuls!
I'm finishing up my second semester of the full-time track. I think I know why you have to have the fundamentals book for 104. I remember our very first test for 104 came ONLY from the fundamentals book usually used for 102. It may not be the reason but...just an idea. Good luck y'all! Enjoy your free time while you have it and do as much of the entire calculate with confidence book as possible before the semester starts. :)

Jeff State Summer 2011
Honestly I don't know. I have seen the Incredibly Easy books, but not the one for dosages. The only book I have experience with is Calculate With Confidence. Sorry!

Jeff State Summer 2011
To me it wasn't hard, but to some it is. It is very basic algebra...just in a word problem. As long as you know your formulas, you can figure it out. A lot of times they will put info in the questions that you don't need...so you have to figure that out. If you go ahead and use your book now though and practice, practice, practice you should be in good shape. Always know all your conversions and abbreviations too! Those are in the book as well.

Jeff State Summer 2011
Congratulations to everyone for getting in! I'm in first semester right now at the Shelby campus...cannot believe it is almost done. It has flown by! Biggest advice I can give (at least for Shelby students) is READ READ READ your book!!!! I cannot stress this enough. The notes/lectures are NO WHERE near what you need to take the test. On the test they will ask questions that you will only have known the answers to if you read the book. And it won't just be recalling info. You will have to recall what you read and apply it to the situation. Do as many practice questions as you can as well. Also, go through as much of your Calculate with Confidence book as possible before your first day of class. You will be tested on all but one or two chapters of the book if I remember correctly....and I think there are like 25. And they spent one class period teaching this and you can imagine how much got covered. Also, get clarification on rounding. If you already know how to do the math before summer starts that will be one less thing to stress out about. Plus you will have the 90% test for Fundamentals and they also give 3 math tests for Pharmacology and they can really help your grade out. Be prepared to be extremely busy and stressed! But at the same time it is a lot of fun in my opinion. Good luck!

Jeff State Summer 2011
When I said a list of things to buy and pay for at orientation...I mean they give you the list and it has a break down of the prices. None of which you can pay for at orientation :)

Jeff State Summer 2011
I am in my first semester of the nursing program. I did not have to pay anything at orientation....there was nothing you could "early bird" and pay ahead of time at orientation. Just trying to help the other person or yourself that asked about it. The cost for everything is around $1000-$2500 depending on financial aid/grants. Tuition is over $1000 alone and books are around $600 with the bundle. But there is nothing you can/will have to pay for at orientation. They will give you a list of things to buy and pay for at orientation. This includes tuition, books, physical & titers/immunizations, drug screen, background check, uniforms, shoes, stethoscope, pen light, bandage scissors, malpractice insurance, and photo id. You cannot pay for tuition at orientation because you have not been registered for your classes yet. They register you...you do not. Therefore, you have to wait till they do that in order to pay. You cannot pay for books yet because they will not be into the bookstore for at least about a month. Hope this helps.

??s about Jeff State full-time program
I just started my first semester in the Jeff State program (full-time). The full-time program takes 5 straight semesters and the part-time evening program takes 7 semesters. It is very intense already. I have no children and am able to not work currently. I spend hours everyday studying, reading, etc. and that is just for the nursing classes. Hope that helps :)

Statistics online? good/bad idea?
I got a B. I hate to say it but I definitely could have pulled an A. If I get very uninterested in something I don't give 150% like usual. I like math a lot though. Statistics just kind of got old to me. I had initially taken it for a different degree before I decided to go for ADN. I don't even need it now for that, but will if I decide to get a BSN.

Statistics online? good/bad idea?
I took Elementary Statistics online at my CC. I thought it was okay really. It is definitely "doable". Statistics is really not something I enjoy at all so I might have enjoyed it better in the classroom setting. Good luck!

The post above is correct about points. You can go to the website or ask an advisor and they can verify. It is the exact same point system as before...just add your teas points. There is even a chart on the website that will tell you how much your teas % (that you got the day you took the test) is equivalent to. However, this is only for the Oct. 22 deadline. Those applying for Summer 2011 and on will not use the Compass test. So then you wouldn't be using those points for it.

I think they told me the "program average" was a 63 or 64?? I guess that is for the school. It doesn't make since though since no one has taken it yet in previous semesters. I guess it is just referring to the people so far. I know they said the national average was a 63 or 64 as well. Hope it goes well for you!
