2011 RN Grad - Minnesota Fellowships? [OR would be great]
You should start the job search EARLY. Trust me I waited until AFTER I graduated since everyone made it sound sooo easy to get a Nursing job. I would say january or feb 2011 would be early enough but, maybe you can get in contact with people now and get some leads. Also, as far as your grades, as long as you pass that's all that matters. Our instructors always said C=Degree

ASN vs. 2nd Degree BSN at Bellarmine/Spalding/Ivy Tech
I vote ADN first. You can get out quickly with less busy work and then when you are finished there are lots of online BSN programs that you can do while you are working as an RN. This may not be for everyone but if you have any children or a need to start your career ASAP then this is the best option i think

has anyone ever ordered from www.uniformdiscount.com
Sounds like people are receiving their order just not in a timely manner. Maybe they are just REALLY unorganized. but that is a scary thought to not receive you stuff. I am looking to order some cheap scrubs... won't go there!

What To Do When You Fail The NCLEX-RN
If anyone is having trouble passing the NCLEX I just took the Hurst Review online (after failing twice before). It is AMAZING and I highly recommend it to anyone! They have a 98% pass rate and money back guarantee. If you don't pass you can get a refund OR take the remediation course. I passed last week with 75 questions and I graduated in May 2009 so it's been a while for me! Go to www.hurstreview.com and check it out. The videos are fun to watch and interesting. The lady named Marlene Hurst who owns the company is great. She tells you what you NEED to know to pass boards and she's very funny!

In a few years all RNs will be required to have a BSN?
I heard that in KY too. Not sure if it was ever passed but, I believe it was the hospitals discretion. The hospital was chnaging policies and wanted all nurses to have a BSN within 5 years.

75 Questions on NCLEX, pass or fail?
Took my boards and had 75 questions and passed and I believe most people I have talked to who have gotten 75 questions passed. Never can tell though. If anyone is looking for a really good nclex review, try Hurst Review. It is awesome. You can see if there are live lectures in your area or you can do the online version which is what I did. VERY helpful and has a 98% pass rate. If you graduated less than 6 months ago and you take the review and don't pass, you get your money back!

What can I do to build up my resume as a future RN?
When I was in nursing school, a local hospital had a "Student Nurse Float Pool". You just had to be a nursing student. I got to pick my own schedule, could work 4, 8 or 12 hour shifts and gained alot of experience because we were sent to different places all around the hospital instead of going to the same area every day. You should call around and see if any hospitals have that in your area. CNA work is probably the best experience for a nursing student. Also at my school, you were considered a CNA after the first semester but you werent actually certified unless you took the state test whioch was 75 dollars but alot of hospitals will hire you with just the 1st semester of school behind you.

Need Advice About Job Searching.. HELP
Thanks for everyone's input. I know it's going to be tough but, I'm hoping that since I am being upfront about it, it will not waste the employers time or my time interviewing prior to knowing my situation. I'm thinking, if they can look over it enough to call me in for a interview, explaining my situation (without too much detail like HouTX said) won't hurt me but maybe help me. The only positive I can see in this was that atleast it wasn't a termination based on anything "criminal" at the workplace. I am going to send in resumes and applications anywhere and everywhere and try to stay positive. :) JjoBSN- i will PM you thanks for the support.

Need Advice About Job Searching.. HELP
Hello Everyone! I am new to this site and so far I love it. I am also very new to the field of nursing. I am a single mom with a 6 year son and actually just found out I passed my boards yesterday! However, this was my third attempt at the NCLEX exam. I graduated from an ADN prgram in May 2009 and had trouble finding a job initially and also put off taking my boards. Finally, in Sept 2009 I was offered a job in a brand new ICU in a nearby hospital. I was to be trained in the CCU until the new ICU opened up. I loved my preceptor and absolutely LOVE critical care. I knew a few people in my department and one was even my best friends mom. It seemed like everything was falling into place. Shortly after accepting the job I signed up to take may boards for the first time however, I found out devastating news the day of my test. My fiance/son's father had been cheating on me. Needless to say I failed the test and not only that but seemingly failed at everything else too. I sunk into a deep depression even losing 20 pounds in one month. Long story short I was still in my 90 day orientation period at my new job and at that moment in time, the job I loved so much became very unimportant within a matter of moments. I ended up calling in 3 days within my 90 day orientation and was let go. So fast forward to today and I have finally left all of that in my past and have passed my state boards (yay!) Next step, finding an RN position with little to no experience and a termination on my record! I am desperate for any advice anyone could give me. Obviously honestly is the best policy, right? If so, how do I fill out the applications? Do I include it on my resume as well? What exactly should I put under my reason for leaving and is it unprofessional to include an attachment stating what happened for me to get terminated? So confused and anxious to start my career! Any advice is greatly appreciated!!
