Hi! CPMC is a good hospital to start with. The starting pay rate for new grads is around $40 an hour. I could refer you to my manager if you need help. jamila

Hi Im currently working in CPMC, SF too. Unfortunately they do not offer sponsorship right now. Although they used to. Not sure how long ago. Why don't you try UCSF or SF General Hospital? They offer sponsorship for working visa.

Hi chick_pea.. in your case as an immigrant, No, you dont need to take your local board. Then submit a letter along with your application that you didnt take your board in the philippines simply because you're an immigrant and u intend to work in the US.

I didn't take the phil boards and i told them im a us citizen that's why i didnt take the board. Also the same thing with immigrants. As simple as that.

i recently graduated last '04, and being an american citizen does not require you to challenge the local board. You can go straight to the US, submit ur application for Nclex (dont apply for a state that requires CGFNS) then challenge the exam. NExt step is start looking for a good hospital that has new grad training program.

I remember when I was in school '00-'04, we have our RLE duty @ different affiliated hospital, at our own cost we have to pay for our own transportation to get there, Also part of our community health nursing is to go in a remote area where we could provide health teachings or whatever help we can provide to the people in that area..and ALL the expenses comes from our pocket...it is really expensive...and I have had a hard time asking my parents for more money bec. they thought everything is already included in the tuition but it's not.ALso not to mention, preparing and working on our group THESIS during our last yr was one of the most expensive project we ever had. You can't graduate if you fail the thesis.

One of my grandma even told me she took nursing for 5 yrs. It used to be 5 back then. So I think we're already lucky we only take 4 yrs. And another thing, why would BON question UST for its program?...ust is very strict and truly live up to its standard. They make sure they follow what BON is asking for. Students there take their RLEs starting 2nd yr compared to 3rdyr in other school. Im not trying to start a fight here.. just dont question the school again. UST never take 2nd courser unless they start in freshman. Just the truth.

It must be frustrating for u that living up to ur dreams is hard to fulfill. U can only decide for urself. I graduated in the philippines and now working in a big hospital here in SF. I think going to the philippines is a good idea to take up ur nursing. Not only the tuition is way cheap compared to US...u'll have a very strong nursing background. The education program in the philippines is way challenging than US...and from where i graduate, some of the students were also US citizens and believe me, they survived...all our teachers are very fluent in english...and compared to taking ADN vs BSN, its best that u take 4 yr course coz nursing is a difficult course, u need a good foundation to be really competent.It takes time to develop that skills, knowledge and attitude. HOw else can u get all that within 2 yrs? And believe me, most hospitals prefer BSN than ADn. That's just my input. good luck to you!

I applied to a lot of hospitals nearest my location just before thanksgiving and until now i havent received any reply or call from recruiters. I am a new grad with no experience who applied for new grad training program and educated outside the US. Im getting depressed now. How many days or weeks before they call u for an interview?

I called up a nurse recruiter from one of the hospitals i applied for to inquire bout a new grad training program.i recently passed the nclex and have no problem with working in the US. The recruiter said that the director is still having a second thought wether they're gonna give me an interview or not just coz im a new grad with no experience and finished nursing from the philippines? i just don't understand why the recruiter would tell me that they're still having a second thought for my job application.. is it because i studied in the phil and a new grad and no experience??
