  1. depends on the job market for CNA's where you are. It took me from October 23 until December 12 o get my CNA class done (BUT that was a weekend ONLY class) i take my state test (Texas) Jan 6&7. In texas you have to be out of class for 15 days before they will let you test for state.
  2. you aren't to old! I'm almost 28, 2 kids, soon to be divorced and no way to support me and the boys. so i am starting my pre-req's 10 Jan 2011 for my long time dream of becoming an RN. go for it!
  3. thanks guys. idk why I'm feeling so bad these days. I think it is because this is my first holiday season alone (and my anniversary falls right after the first of the yr). I found a job opening today for a PRN CNA at my local hospital. I'm trying to decided if i should apply for it or if i should just spend my "spare time" (which i know will be few and far between) with my boys. My parents have told me I do not have to work through nursing school, but i don't like to "bum" off them (or anyone else) for any thing (more than i am anyway). I"ll think i just better hit my knees and talk to the "big guy" and see where He takes me.
  4. single parents on state assistance and going to school on Pell Grant? I feel like the crappiest person ever for being in state aid! It seems like ever where i turn ppl are "judging" me. I know it doesnt' matter what other ppl think, but my husband of 9 yrs lft me when my youngest was 3 weeks old (he is now 3.5 months) i had no income, no "training" so to speak of (i've had the on the job training but not certifications) to go to work to support me and my kids while i'm in school. I am starting my pre-req's for an ADN program (hopefully i will get accepted to the program for fall 2011). Just wondering if anyone else feels like a crappy person for being on state aid...
  5. at the college i am attending you have to take A&PI before you can take A&PII
  6. i see i'm behind, i'm hoping to take the HESI for AC this coming spring for fall 2011...THANK YOU SO MUCH for your HESI post! i hate math, i am very relieved to see that the math is 8th grade level. i have loads of teacher friends that teach middle school and high school math!
  7. in the spring i will be taking A&P2, Nutrition, and medical terminology (all those are online) Intermediate Algebra and speech (those are "on campus")
  8. well what i'm going to do is get all my RN pre-req's done, once i'm done with those then i will attempt to take the RN entrance exam for the program, HOWEVER if i do not pass that then i will go to the LVN program then to the LVN to RN program. but i'm going to try to go straight into the RN program
  9. I would like to have scholarships to cover tuition and books for spring and summer sessions (since my Pell isn't enough to cover it all and a few other needs). TO get into the ADN program instead of taking the "long" way around. HESI study guide (they use the math, reading and writing of this to admit to the ADN program and i'm VERY antedated by standardized tests)
  10. IMO i don't think it is to old to be a CNA.... I am in the class (again, took it 11 yrs ago and for some odd reason the state won't take my hours from then...(j/k)). Are you looking for a career change? and looking into nursing? I am not going to stay a CNA, it is just a means of income for me and my boys (my husband of 9 yrs just lft me and my 2 little boys (4yrs and 2 months)) while i'm getting my RN. Good luck
  11. oh didn't see that...lol sorry....(i'm having a tough time these days, husband decided he wants a divorce after 9 yrs, so i'm kinda scatter brained these days, trying to figure out what i'm giont to do before i get into (then out) of school)
  12. that is your call, when i had my son a month ago, i went for (and got) a VBAC and a good friend of mine from high school (and still today) was the RPT on that night and she had to be there in case of a stat section she was in the delivery room when i delivered. she saw it all, it was kinda strange at first but then i had way to many drugs to even care.....i said some goofy things to her, but she didn't care...(not only did she do her job after he was born but she was also great support for me too)
  13. right, but can i do the "book work" so to speak online? or does that have to be done "in person"? I've been thinking of places around here (our hospital is small and not many babies are born here) to get my hours in...
  14. i am taking my pre-req's this spring then hopefully I can get into the ADN program at Amarillo College Fall 2011
  15. my oldest son was an emergency c-section...(can't help you on any research)
