Criminal Record & Clinicals
Hi everyone, I really like reading this forum and seeing that others are in my shoes and know what I am going through. I was recently convicted and sentenced of misdemeanor theft. I live in PA and everyone from the court (DA, Probation, etc) was pushing for me to get ARD so that I wouldn't have a record but unfortunately the victims absolutely refused even when the judge said that I have one more year left of nursing school and might not be able to be a nurse. At this point, I would have to apply for a PA Governor's Pardon however I am trying to be optimistic... Clearances for my school are renewed annually and they are due at the end of April. I am planning on talking to the head of the nursing program at my school very shortly. From what I have read in the handbook, it is not up to the school but rather the clinical sites.. What has been everyone's experiences with this? Were hospitals informed and accepting? I see a lot of people discussing licenses and jobs... I am just hoping to be successful with school and graduate and take one step at a time. Thank you!

Husbands!
I am a relatively new L&D nurse, I've had my share of patients where the husband or S/O was no longer involved, however, I had a new one today.. When the woman got to about 8CM her husband left and said he would be back after the birth, it was a planned decision.. he didn't want to see her in pain.. I'm having a baby soon and there's no way in hell I would let my husband NOT be there haha Is this common?

Students in Delivery Room
Hi Guys! I just graduated and I am a new nurse in L&D. I am currently expecting my first baby in March. My husband and I started having a conversation last night and it came up about students being in the delivery room. He is a nurse is well and had a very hard time being able to witness a delivery during his OB rotation. I feel a little awkward because I am delivering at the hospital I work at which is where I did my OB rotation as well. I was president of the Student Nurse Association at my college so I know several of the juniors and seniors this year. They are scheduled to be in OB when I am due.. I would have no qualms about students in my room but these are students who I have a friendship/relationship with and I am thinking I do not want them to be in there....I will most likely see them again in and around the hospital. My husband kept telling me that I am overthinking this because they are only in there to learn. How does everyone feel about students in the room observing?

Help with pediatric care plan!
I had a pediatric patient yesterday who was 10. He has down's syndrome and was hospitalized with gastritis but they did a CT scan and found out he had ulcers in his esophagus and stomach. He was transferred to a larger facility. I have to do a care plan on this patient.. The diagnosis I was thinking of was either, Risk for Dehydration, Risk for Pain, or something related to the down's syndrome like risk of developmental delay.. I was a little confused about what I should list for the AEB.. What diagnosis would be better? Thank you! :)
