Bookworm apparently names are not allowed on AN, but there are 2 nursing advisors you need to email - they go by whatever your last name is.
  2. ahsile replied to Sd2008's topic in Arizona Nursing
Oh yea I remember him! Wow he left, that's too bad. The advisor I'm in contact with now is (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME - PLEASE DO NOT POST NAMES OF THOSE IN YOUR PROGRAM PER TOS).
  3. ahsile replied to Sd2008's topic in Arizona Nursing
Which advisor? Hope it wasn't the one I was in touch with. :/

Haven't heard from the community colleges yet but I think they will be sending info shortly because they are doing fall placements April 7th. So I'm sure we'll get more info around that time.

I'm going to ASU and had my transcripts sent over from CGCC and my high school and I had no problem with that at all. I was accepted into ASU about two weeks ago. Then I had to submit my MMR verification, that got done and the hold was removed from my account on Friday, had to submit some documents for financial aid last week and that got taken care of and now registering for summer and fall classes TODAY! Finally! ASU orientation will be May 20th.

I don't think we will hear from the community colleges until they do their fall placement. I think that's going to happen in a couple months.

FINALLY heard from ASU just today with instructions on how to be admitted. Ugh was getting nervous!

Thank you J_bones yes I do see the special process message :) I was going through some old All Nurses posts from last year's CEP and it looked like they were hearing from the university days after getting the acceptance email so then it made me nervous. I did call ASU and spoke with someone and of course the person that handles all that is out of the office today. Ugh. So she forwarded my info and they are supposed to contact me tomorrow. I just want to get the ball rolling. We are supposed to start in May for ASU and here its just about March and I'm not even admitted!

I haven't heard anything from ASU either - WTH?!?! I emailed the nursing admin at CGCC and she said all the names have been sent to ASU for them to contact us but she couldn't speak for ASU's timeline. I'm about to email the advisors at ASU and ask them what's up. Again.

Has anyone heard from anyone at ASU? I emailed the advisors last week and they said as soon as they get the names of the people that accepted placement they would be in touch to start the application process. I sent my letter back right away and receipt was confirmed but I still haven't heard back from anyone at ASU to begin the process of enrolling there.

Awesome Stevie and J Bones! Congrats to you both as well! I'm excited and nervous for sure! Have you emailed the ASU advisor Stevie? I guess that's the next step, at least that's what it looks like from the letter.

Just received my acceptance email from mccd for fall 2015 ASU/CGCC CEP program.....anyone else?
  13. I'm definitely deferring then to the fall so that I can apply for (and hopefully get into) the ASU CEP program. Then I'll update my choices and make sure my first choice is one I def want in case I don't get into the CEP program. Either way I guess I'll start next fall. Thanks for all your help ladies. Good luck to everyone!
  14. If you defer, you are automatically up for the following semester, correct?
  15. Just got my acceptance letter for spring 2015 MCC late start Hybrid!! Now what to do.....put it off and apply for CEP in Feb. or go ahead with it? AAAAHHHHHHH Decisions decisions!!!! Gawd I don't know what to do and they are only giving me 2 weeks to decide. Ugh.
  16. Well I finished all the requirements for the CEP so now I'm in a bind if they place me for spring. When is the next registration for CEP? Anyone know? I might just defer for the sping (if my time is up) so I can apply for the CEP.
  17. My time stamp is 12/7/12, should I expect to be placed for spring 15? Haven't heard anything yet but I reaffirmed and everything so I should be good to go when there's an opening at one of my choices, if my time is up.
  18. Thank you!! I tried sending you a PM back but I guess I haven't posted enough on AN so it won't let me send my message :)) I'll see you on FB! Thanks! My name is Elisha so if you see my request....
  19. Hi CinDRnyc, I tried searching for the name of that group - can't find you guys on FB?? It says No Results Found For Your Query" Is it still up?

I am a stay at home mom of 5 and have been a full-time student working through pre-reqs for 2 years now. I have a 3.8 GPA (only because of 1 C, all the rest are A's but that one C killed my GPA!!) I will be doing my last semester of pre-reqs this Fall and then applying to NAU or ASU for the BSN program. I won't lie it is so stressfull! My savior has been my husband and my parents and Starbucks, Denny's or Paradise Bakery. When I am in school my husband or my parents take my kids at least 3-4 nights per week and I hit up one of those restaurants and stay and study there for several hours. I tried studying while I was at home but that was impossible because I always had at least one kid yelling "MOMMMMYYYYY!!" So I found the best thing for me was to get out of the house. A&P 1 and 2 was for me, by far, the most difficult of all my classes so far. I'm usually really good at sciences but those classes really tested me. I blew through Nutrition, that wasn't hard for me at all and actually I learned so much in that class. In the fall I'm taking Pathophysiology, Microbiology, statistics and one other class, can't remember. So A&P might be a cake walk compared to this final semester - I am NOT looking forward to it. My kids are definitely my motivation. Well my kids and summer vacations on the beach, because since I've been a stay-at-home mom we haven't taken a single vacation because of finances but when I'm a nurse you better believe we will be going on that vacation and at least one vacation a year LOL!! Good luck to you! You can do it!
  21. ddmad, did you have to wait a long time to be placed? And at what location are you at? I have the Fall semester to finish before I can apply.
  22. Lovebug, I took CHM 130 and BIO 201 together and OMG I sooooo regretted it! I took them both in person but it was so hard to study for both. I did have a 4.0 before last semester and then doubled up on the science classes and ended up getting a C in BIO 201 and an A in CHM. Clearly I studied for one more than the other O_o Ugh. I may have to repeat BIO 201 so if I had to do it over again I would spread it out between the 2 semesters. FON 241 is easy though - it was a great class to take! Did you look into ASU's Bachelors to BSN bridge program? Last I heard it wasn't very competitive to get in at all because it was so new. It is for people that already have bachelor's and want a BSN.
  23. CinDRnyc your suggestion of Rio Salado for those random classes was brilliant! Why hadn't I thought of that myself?? I looked into it and yes, those are like 8 week long classes. Awesome! Thank you! Do you mind me asking which classes you took exactly? When I started in 09 I was just working on getting on the ADN waitlist. But now we have all these options and dang I wish I would have known about them before because I could have been working on these other pre-reqs too. Now I feel like I'm rushing to get all these classes in and done and I hate that.
  24. I didn't realize that ASU costs so much more! I looked into it - I guess ASU CEP is like $24,000 and NAU CEP is like $12,000 so DOUBLE! Yikes! It is such a new program but I swear I read somewhere the costs and it didn't look all that bad but I might have been reading something else. You are right it is really hard to get any information. I called one of the advisors at MCC regarding the ASU CEP and she just told me that if I wanted any information I had to come to an information session. Ugh. So on the waiting list I go. Just like you I'm on it as of this month for the regular ADN. I just finished BIO 201 as well. I will be paying for most of my BSN myself too. Maybe I should keep NAU options open. The list of pre-reqs for NAU is just daunting for me though. I still need BIO 205, HCR 240, Statistics, and 12 hours of AHI and CU classes whatever those are. For ASU I just needed the BIO 205 and HCR 240 in order to apply. So frustrating! One person posted on AN that they applied in the Spring for the NAU CEP and started in the Fall and it wasn't that hard to get in, just had to meet the minimums but of course as time goes on it will get more competitive I'm sure. I think still easier to get in then competing for a spot in the ASU upper division nursing program though. CinDRnyc, let us know what you find out at the information session! I won't be able to go until the next one they have.
  25. I am going for the ASU/MCCD CEP program and I was told that even if you took Chem in HS you have to take the college level course for the CEP. SOC 390 IS the statistics class you need for ASU - I think it's different if you go with NAU. To answer your last question, I think both cost about the same. Also, I chose ASU because I was already about done with most of the pre-reqs and if I chose NAU I would have at least another year of classes because they require more pre-reqs to apply. But with the programs being so new I can't tell you which one would be better, per say. Have you downloaded the CEP information packets from the MCCD nursing website? They are LOADED with information. It would help answer a lot of your questions. I have this Spring semester to finish before I will have all my pre-reqs done for the ASU CEP program but I still have to go to the information sessions, etc. so I'm hoping I can apply in the Fall for the Spring semester of 2013 if they program hasn't changed at all. It's just all so new. We'll see. Honestly I'm sick of school and I haven't even gotten into the nursing program yet. Been at this since '09. Ugh.
