CMSV or BMCC
Thanks so much for your help A1551! It seems to be working out so far. Now my next road block is the Portal/Blackboard. I can't seem to figure out how to obtain my class information, syllabus, books, etc. Any thoughts? Sorry to be such a pain, I'm feeling like an out of date student! lol. Dana

CMSV or BMCC
Hi A1551, I know this post is a few months old, but I desperately need your help. I'm registered to take my A&P prereq at BMCC this fall, 2010, but the admissions department just told me that because I am a non degree student that I cannot take any classes during the school year and only during the summer. Do you have any advice or help for me? I'm not finding anyone that can assist me at BMCC nor can I find information online. I'm planning on attending different school for the ABSN program. Thank you so much!

Downstate Accelerated/Class of 2011
Hi, I know you posted this several months ago, but I was hoping for some insight. I'm currently hold a BS in health care administration from Oregon state university and am working on my prereqs at BMCC. Do you have any advice or helpful hints? From what I understand, all ABSN programs are competitive and my undergrad GPA is 2.85 and know that I have to get 4.0 in my prereqs to even be considered. Thanks for your help & goodluck! D

Anywhere I can take BIO 101 in NY?
DaraDara, Hi! You can take bio101 at any community college and BMCC offers it. Classes start today, so I'm not sure if you can register for this fall. I'm in the same boat - it took me a year to figure everything out and now am just starting my prereqs Sunday. I've been out of school for 8 years now. It's intimidating out there, but there is always support out there! Let me know if I can help with anything :) Good luck! D

Quitting a $$$ job to go back to school... Should I?!?
I too am in the same boat, ie: losing good income, benefits, etc. And of course it all depends on where you live, but think about Nurse Management or Nursing Administration. These fields pay very well and you can still utilize your clinical skills. I have my BS in Health Care Administration and work in NYC at a very well paying job as an Administrator but am looking to be more then just an Admin but I also don't want to be a CEO of a hospital. I'm aiming to obtain my ABSN and eventually work in a hospital in Nursing Administration and again, these positions pay 80K+ depending on your location. Good luck to everyone!

APPLYING TO ABSN for Spring or Fall 2011
Hi, I just joined AllNurses.com and have been contemplating obtaining my ABSN as of last year. Slowly, very slowly, I'm working towards it. I graduated from Oregon State Univ in 2003 with a degree in health care administration and currently work as an Administrator in NYC. This Sunday, actually, I start my first pre-req class at BMCC, A&P. Does anyone have any advice or information for me? I will not be attending the BMCC nursing program and plan to apply to Binghamton, John Hopkins, MU South Carolina and possibly UNC Chapel Hill. Also, how many schools would be good to apply to? 5-10? THanks for all your help out there and good luck to everyone!
