Any reviews on Kaplan Review course?
I used Kaplan and passed first time with 75 questions. I did all of the QTrainers and all but 300 of the Qbank questions. I read every rationals, even the questions I got right. I got a notebook and wrote down notes, lab values, s/s of different deseases. I read my notes a least everyday. I was not a fan of the decision tree but it came in handy on a couple of questions when I had to just give it a good guess. Jennifer

I passed...I am a RN
Its official!! I passed the NCLEX-RN. I took it on June 28th and I got the good pop-up. I could not really believe it until I saw my name on the BON this morning. I have been lurking around allnurses.com for years. The information I have recieved has been invaluable. I am so grateful for all of the wisdom that has been posted. I used Kaplan and answered all the Qtrainers, Readiness an all the Qbank except for about 300 questions. My scores were from 53-74. Thank you to all and good luck to those future NCLEX takers!! Too Uptight?
I quit a job over prepouring medications including narcotics. My job was to prepour the next days meds and sign out the narcotics. I quit quickly! The other nurses could not could not figure out why I would not do it. I all worked out for the best...LOVE my new job! Jenn

Malpractice Insurance?
Less than $100/year for a good nights sleep. I don't plan on using mine either, I don't think anyone does, but in the sue, get a quick buck, society that we live in it is good just to have in your back pocket. Jenn

LVN CE credits
I finally got the answer... I got someone to actually call me back fron the LVN board. It was actually the guy that is in charge of the CEUs. They give 18 hours of CE credit for every 1 unit. My 5 unit Microbiology class is worth 90 CEUs. Thanks to everyone and I hope this helps someone else! Jenn

LVN CE credits
When I asked the lady at the BVNPT she was giving vague answers. She told me it was something about a three unit class meets 3 hours per week times the length of the course is ABOUT 30 hours. It sounds right but I would like to make sure before I send in my renewal and I get audited and they say it is wrong. It is my license to lose not the Boards!! I called back on Friday to speak to someone in the Education Depatment but they have not called me back. Thanks for the replys Jenn

LTC, Home Health, Hospice???
You never know what will happen in the future. Get your RN. I am an LVN and I enjoy my job at a SNF. I do all the treatments. I am currently on the waitlist for the LVN to RN program. I know that when I get my RN I would like to work with Hospice. I can work with hospice as a LVN but with my RN I will have a lot more choices with my RN. I always thought I would be a LVN forever. After working for awhile I realized that there are only a few differences between LVN and RN and RN's get paid almost double. Jenn

LVN CE credits
I have a question regarding my license renewal and CE credits. According to the BVNPT website, A&P and Micro count as CE credits. I called the board and the person that answered said yes it does count but she could not tell me exactly how many credits I can count for each class ad how to fill in the form on the back of the renewal. She said that if the class was 3 units then it was about 30 credits. Has anyone ever used these classes for CE credits? Jenn

LVN in ADN program seeking Job. Do I let employers know?
When I was looking for a LVN job, my resume had that I was on the waitlist for the LVN to RN at the local college. I was getting inerviews but not getting the job. I went to one interview and was asked about the waitlist and was told that they would not hire me. When I asked why she said that she would put in the time and money to train me then I would leave when I got in school or when I became an RN. I could not disagree with her statement. I took it off my resume. I am working at a facility as a tratment nurse and I love it but I want to be a RN. My DON does know that I will go to school soon and she encourages me to contiue my education. Just my two cents Jenn

LVN Salaries... California
I make $21/hr as a part time treatment nurse. I am a new grad out of school almost three years (getting pre reqs done). I am supposed to work 4 hours but typically I average a hour of overtime a shift. Jenn

If you had your choice of any field of nursing you wanted........
Three months ago I got a job as a treatment nurse and LOVE it. I was just looking for experience while waiting to get into the LVN to RN transition program. I am now looking to the future to get certification in wound care. Jenn

Help! narcotic key turnovers
Just say "NO"! I left a job because they wanted me to prepour the meds and narcotics for the next shifts. They told me "That is the way we have always done it." I did it for about a week and I was sick to my stomach everyday that I left work. I finally did not do it and the day nurse went off on me. The administration told me that it was ok for us to do that because it was an assisted/independent living facility. I asked them to show me in writing...they could not. I gave two weeks notice ( I did not prepour meds or narcs) and I found a job that I love. Go with you gut and always remember that you worked hard for your license and you are the only one that can lose it. Jen
