Reach out to your probation monitor and have them follow up

for the first year, my modification was to have my fines reduced which I did. I requested the modification on the grounds of being the breadwinner of the family, in grad school, and living in an area with high cost of living. I have had a really good relationship with my supervisor for years, and she understood how I felt about the ordeal. so I have been with the same job since. few things to ask you: 1. do you have a union rep? maybe consult with them about what they have to say about your situation? 2. unless anything comes up when someone searches your license in the database, do not mention anything to HR or supervisor 3. not a question, but if you haven't done so, hire a lawyer and have liability insurance. 4. there are places that will hire nurses under probation - you just have to look.

Congratulations! Now you can put this chapter behind you. I hope you have some time to heal and do some self-care by rewarding yourself for all of your hard work!

If you have been assigned to a probation monitor - I would reach out to them and express urgency in a polite manner due to costs: standards of living, paying off fines, etc.

NSO can connect you with a list of attorneys that accept their liability insurance. For mine I had to pay out of pocket then file for reimbursement with NSO. Also noting that insurance only covers a certain amount of the total cost. I wanna say no more 30% but double check.

I feel ya 100%. This difficult ordeal def makes me wanna be an advocate for all nurses. Am pursuing my MPH to learn how to do so.

There is light at the end of the tunnel. I was placed on a 3-year probation sentence. You may petition for modification after 1 year, and that's mostly to have the fines reduced. After 2 years, I was able to apply for early termination. I am fortunate to work with a supportive supervisor and she helped me professionally and mentally to keep me sane and to ensure I am a safe practicing RN. I was also fortunate to have been a assigned a probation monitor. Having a good rapport is essential not just professionally but also psychologically. You're working with them for as long as your stipulations say, so just make the best of it and don't hesitate to ask questions.

Not classes but I suggest working per diem at outpatient facilities to get some experience. You can also look at CEUs on de-escalation, mood disorders. Good luck!

I've had my fair share of job hopping. outpatient to inpatient to outpatient again. It's okay to keep searching what works best for you. It's okay to not work in med surg right out of nursing school. All these preconceptions about what to aim for as a new grad stresses everyone out. I have clinical depression and anxiety, and I get the struggle, now with 10 years under my belt. Listen to your gut as well. You don't want to be put into a position where you're forced/coerced to do something you don't want/sign up for. You also want to protect your license. If, however, you feel like you don't enjoy nursing anymore, then I would consider other options. Nonetheless hang in there and things will be okay.

Back when I was on probation, I turned in my petition for early termination back in August 2024, Since they don't do the hearings in an effort to streamline things, I was able to get my decision in November 2024.
