TWU - Houston - Fall 2012
Thanks kitdidit and scrubb! I ask to be a member on the fb group already. :) also, with the packet stuff, I got 3 pages only. Thats.. it.. I just need to do a TB test and that's all. But I think i'll turn in my report just to make sure what I'm thinking is correct. :) I'm trying to call Ms. Washington and talk to her for more details b/c. when they say 'packet' I expect a 5 pages long or something, not 3 pages. o_O;

TWU - Houston - Fall 2012
Hey I got accepted to TWU but I think my packet was messed up, I only received 2 sheets and I got an attitude from some one in the nursing department (which kind of tells me that I am missing information). my questions are: are we supposed to complete all our immunizations by may 4th? are we supposed to complete our criminal background screening/drug screening by may 4th? if so, how do we do it?

TWU vs UTh
Ah okay then. Congrats on getting in! :) Since you probably had taken the Evolve's HESI, do you have any idea what kind of questions the A/P portion will be? Do you remember if there are questions that needed to know diseases that are usually in the boxes in the text book for "interesting things to know in clinical diseases," for example, sickle cells or HIVs. Also, what tips do you recommend about vocabulary? The ones they give out in the Evolve guide are way too easy... So I feel that there's a catch.

TWU vs UTh
Oooh, BU... I used to go there for my first year but what killed me was the financial stuff... Good Luck. You'll need it...

TWU vs UTh
That's weird, I emailed a counselor about sending the HESI scores from HCC to UTh about that and UTh told me it is okay.

UTs vs TWU vs Texas A&M (transfering) and HESI Qs
I have the same ideas about A&M, I even have a friend over there too who's been telling me about it. But, I kept hearing bad reviews from this site about the instructors at A&M. But I'm going to try to apply to A&M. I hope you can get in, you have a really good hearted reason to go. :) TWU's stuff about HESI and THEAS test did confuse me a bit too. When I went to their website, one link says HESI, another says TEAS. A friend of mine just got into TWU, and she told me she only did the HESI. She's in it now. So I don't know for sure if it means the new comings have to take the THEAS now. I thought that HESI is a national test and I didn't find anything else that said otherwise. But the people who told me that each schools takes different "HESI"s, maybe they were talking about a loophole. Like, if you take the HESI and send it only to Prairie View and UT, then take another HESI and only send that score to UTA and Baylor. So I guess, in the school's mind, they only see 'one' score from that student. There's TWO personality tests? It didn't say that in the sections required. Are you sure there's another one? http://coleman.hccs.edu/coleman/a-career-in-health-sciences/nursing-registered-nursing/hesi-info Also, do you have any clue if when they say grammar, it also means "general knowledge and grammar" ? I can't find any HESI tests that has a section called "general knowledge."

Anatomy & Physiology Portion of HESI
hmmm, what about formulas like calculating pH or finding the cardiac output ?
-
TWU vs UTh
The Hep B immunization is required at all nursing schools isn't it? When I looked in HBU, I couldn't find any thing of the sort.
-
TWU vs UTh
Can HCC"s HESI test be sent to both UTh and TWU? I heard about a rumor were each school has a different HESI.

UTs vs TWU vs Texas A&M (transfering) and HESI Qs
I guess no one knows anything about it D:

Anatomy & Physiology Portion of HESI
Oh, and the HESI guide I have, from elsevier, only reviewed over, histology, mitosis/meiosis, skin, skeletal, muscular, nervous, endocrine, circulatory, respiratory, digestive, urinary and fe/male reproductive system.
-
Anatomy & Physiology Portion of HESI
Hmm, alright. So basically study moderately on each system. Does questions come from ALL systems or most of them? I'm asking this because I'm studying the Lymp system right now and I have the Respiratory, Digestive, metabolism/nutrition,fluid/electrolyte/acid-base homeostasis, Reproductive, and development/inheritance left to look over.

Anatomy & Physiology Portion of HESI
Hey everyone, I'm nervous about my HESI that I'm taking in April. What I'll like to know is that when you took the HESI, what portion of the A&P questions did you have? I heard from one peer in 2009 it was about the cardio and another was about the special senses. So, this tells me that the HESI picks a system and uses most of it on the test itself. Also, I'm in the middle of my A&PII right now, (Lymp system). Thanks, Sue

UTs vs TWU vs Texas A&M (transfering) and HESI Qs
Hey, I want to start working on my applications to start going to another school in Spring 2012. Right now, I'm at Houston Community College, working on my prereqs. So far, I'm looking at any of the UTs, (UTsa, UT at Arlington, UT at Houston), TWU, and Texas A&M and I would like to know if anyone have any personal pros and cons about these schools? I've heard a lot of negative things about Texas A&M but the comments were in 2010 so hopefully the program is better. With TWU, I'm confused about taking the HESI, later in this post. Same with the UTs. About the HESI, I had 2 peers telling me that the HESI at one school is different from another school. I do not find anything about this on any websites so can someone confirm to me that this is false? (Not a "urm... I don't about that" "..okay..." *gives funny look* these responses tells me that they're unsure.) Also, Everyone of these schools needs the HESI A2, why isn't there any that wants HESI A1? And with these schools, can't I take one HESI test at Houston Community College and submit them to UTs, A&M, and TWU? (Like one does with SAT scores?). Thank You, Sue

TWU vs UTh
To who ever reads this, Im working on my pre-reqs now and plan to apply for TWU and UT in Houston. However, I feel that only applying to 2 places isn't a good idea, but, I am not sure where else to apply to. I want to stay in Houston and get a BSN in Houston, (currently at HCC). Also, I hope to transfer (if I get accepted) by next spring 2012. (so in about a year). I am planning to study for the HESI starting at the end of December and taking it next spring 2011. And during spring 2011, I will work on my applications. I also would like to know if I need to get any shots. For some reason, both UT in Houston and TWU did not have a note about shots required in order to transfer to their schools for a BSN. Thank You for reading this, Sue

is that Gen Bio that your taking along with A/P I? also, just curious, are you going to HCC?
-
Houston Community College ADN Progam
do you have to take gen bio or can you skip it to a/p I and they'll just count it since it's a higher version of bio?

Houston Community College ADN Progam
From what I'm seeing, it'll take me about a year if I get B/As on all my classes, so no orientation what so ever? just the info meeting? I know the earliest I can attend is the FALL of 2011 so i got that down. the information. that one's a little tricky. i keep getting ones about health techs instead of nursing AD. cant I take the hesi this fall of 2010? and how do i study for the dosage calculation test if it's a bit harder then the HESI? Also, are you still in town? I would like to know if i can contact you whenever I need questions. I've been trying to find people who are int his program currently, (the ones I keep finding never was a part of this program, never took a hesi test, or transferred out) I plan to go to the info meeting after the summer session (so next month). also, any tips and advice with classes and teachers? btw, good luck, they better accept you, its almost the start of the main school year
