  1. Oh and the most important thing.. highlighters and DURABLE book bag.. these books are HEAVY!!
  2. I recently graduated nursing school in June of 2010... I can tell you, I could not live without my medication cards, a watch, GOOD comfy shoes and my littman steth.. Although I didn't get my littman until I only had 2 semesters left, it was the best investment I have ever made.. I wish I would have gotten one right away. I was nervous because I didn't want to spend 100+ dollars on a steth if I didn't know if I was going to fail or not. I also recommend that you get a NCLEX book with a lot of questions BY TOPIC in it. It is nice to have when you are studying for a test in your classes... its a very good study tool and in the end will help you with NCLEX also! If you are really nervous when it comes to getting ready for NCLEX, I also really reccomend the Kaplan nclex review.. although it is $499, it is amazing.
  3. I took the NCLEX-RN Exam this morning at 8am... HOLY COW was this test hard... Coming into the test I told myself, "I really hope this test shuts off at 75!" After reading books, it said that if it shuts off at 75, you either really passed, or you reallly failed.. and I kept thinking to myself.. I know I can't REALLY fail... until I got out of the test and it shut me off at 75 questions!! I remember getting to 73.. and praying that the test was going to go PAST 75 questions because I thought I was doing THAT bad.. I was convinced that I failed THAT BAD!!...so 45 minutes later and 75 questions..( I was also freaked out because I took it so freaking fast) I am still freaking out!! I did do the trick and got the good pop up but REALLY!?! Can I feel this bad about this test and still pass? I don't feel like it tested me over anything I studied... I just feel BLAH about it all together!!
  4. I don't know for sure about getting the last question right or wrong meaning you passed or failed, but I do know that the last question could have possibly been a pilot question.. one of the ones that isn't scored on just experimental, and it wouldn't have counted anyway. And congrats on the good pop up! Hopefully this trick is right!!
  5. I think lab values are important to an extent... I recently took NCLEX and I honestly never had a question that said anything about lab values but I think it is important to know that if a question gives you a patient and their labs.. that you know whether they are high or low and what that means in regards to a patient. The important ones that I studied (which may not be important at all) were my CBC values (focused mainly on RBC, WBC, Platelets, HBG and HCT), Liver enzymes, Electrolytes and bleeding studies (PTT, PT, INR).
  6. 1. defib for vfib and pulseless v tach 2. using the glascow coma scale... less than 8 intubate. 3. romazicon - reverses an overdose of benzos 4. type o blood, universal donor 5. type ab blood, universal recipient
