I have read other nurses in this same boat...I would take the job offer that you have and if you get a HCA job then deal with that problem later. I am certain that I read a post from someone in this exact same position and their loan was forgiven and they had to start looking for a job. Who knows...that is what I would do in your shoes. best of luck

Can you tell me more about finding a job? I am looking a starting a BSN program in a year or so...I never hear great things about the job market for new grads?

Not sure what to say...you should not be having trouble getting into any school...I know people that have gone to KU with lower GPAs....they volunteered alot...not sure if that makes a difference...

That is intersting......when i was looking at BC they were thinking that they would have that done at the end of the THIS school year.....hmmmm.....I personally dont' know if I would invest in a BSN...especally one that is 10,000 per year to if it is not accredited....bc you might want to go to grad school some day and they may not take your 1st year at BC's classes....hmmmm....

Speak to the dean of the nursing program and the dean of the college. There are ways to get out of living on campus...TRUST ME....I assume you would stay with your grandma? BC is a great school....just an fyi....I have spoke to several hospital locally and in KC and they don;t see that there is a single thing wrong with going to a "new" nursing program like BC as long as it is accedited. BC would be great....great teachers...smaller classes.....all good!

Pray about it and that is all you can do! I don;t think they will think you are being pushy...I have hired people in the past and I think it show that you WANT this...you will be fine.... What is your area of interest?

Always this POSITIVE....I would GUESS that if you are in the top 5 you would get it. Will you go to BC if not? Just wondering how you decided to apply at BC and St. Mary? Are you from this area? I live in atchison just like the "feel" of St. mary better....just wondering your deciding factors? What area of nursing to you want to go into?

I think that Washburn has a surgical tech program? Not sure if you are interested in that...and I have seen several job postining for that. Possible interest in a CNA program? Are you committed to a BSN?

do you have another school option? Keep calling...it show that you are really dedicated....it is not pushy....I would still try to meet with them. I know this has to be hard....are you at a juco now or a plan "B"?

Do you have letters of recommendation? Maybe bring those and meet with the Dean?

I would guess good if you are high on the list...most people apply to a couple of school and they might deceide to go another to another school. Have you spoke with anyone at the school? Perhaps set up an apt to talk about where you are on the wait list and how this is the school that you want to attend (if that is the case) and "fight" for your spot.

jessi05 & mlacy4....question... I am thinking about going to U of St. Mary. I am 2nd degree seeking. I have 4 classes to finish the gen ed requirment. Did the school give you any reason why you were not accepted? I am not looking at apply for at least 1 more year. What was the process of applying like? Did you have to interview? Any thoughts or tips would be great! BTW...I looked at BC in Atchison...looks like a great school too! Best wishes to both of you!

cmonkey- good stuff... Check out Daveramsey.com. You MUST get your finances in order first...before starting school. You can call radio show and speak to him personally. Also...there is no garantee that you will finish school or get a job when you are done. My hope is that will not be the case for you but life does happen and last I read about 47% of people who start college don't finish.

I am proud of you! Life is never easy and WE ALL make mistakes. You will make a HUGE impact on this world. Life is full of valleys and mountain tops...you will look back on this time when you are standing on top of your mountain and be grateful for the lessons that you learned while in the valley!

I went to Pitt State my freshman year of college. It was a great school. I have heard good things about the nursing program but I was not a nursing student at that time. Good luck!

Thanks for sharing! I need to take Micro, Anatomy with lab, phsiology with lab,and ethics. I am give EduKan some serious thought. Have you taken any of those classes? Keep me posted on micro. Blessings and good luck! :)

Am I missing something? I agree that not going into debt is ALWAYS a good idea..but if the goal is to get a BSN and it is going to take why would you want to drag this out? LPN school = 9 to 12 months, LPN to RN ADN 12 to 18 months, ADN RN to BSN 12 months for a grand total of 24 to 42 months.(of course the time frames depend on the schools in your area) I would rather get the BSN and get it over with.... you are absolutley more marketable. I can't imagine that the cost of going to each of these schools individually would be any more then just going to get a BSN. Get scholarships and finacial aid....
