LaCharity percent--think I could pass?
If you feel you have a good grip on your content, and are scoring that high with Lacharity, especially with the priority questions in the chapters and infection control..your're good ! I took my exam last week 01/25, I used Hurst review for content review, Lacharity and Kaplan for questions and strategies..because they make you think CRITICALLY!!! Honestly, I felt Nclex was not as challenging as I thought ....I was so SCARED, and so anxious, because all my classmates...Said it was "Hard"! I even reconsidered re-scheduling the exam too. I trusted in God, 1st and foremost !!! I honestly think that, what I studied with...really, really Helped, especially Lacharity, because i was thinking so critically...that I finshed the exam with 75 Qs in 1 hour, had lot's of SATA, 2 drag and drop, pictures,1 breath sound, lot's of priority Qs, infection control, but honestly, i felt like every question I had, especially the SATA were very doable...you can email, and I can help you with content review video...my email: [email protected].. By the way i bridged over LVN-RN in a tradtional program...I'm an RN now :-)

Please have faith...GOD knows your need and desires...True, it hurts when you fail at something you strived so much for, but always know that God only wants the best outcome for you, ...He knows your pain, ...Remember you can't fail out of nursing school anymore, that was a huge hurdle...this is just another one too...Give yourself time...And pick yourself -up and dust yourself off and try again...God will be there every step of the way...Just make sure you do you're part i.e study, study, study and he will guide you :redpinkhe

Hurst Review and Kaplan Qbank
I really believe in the Hurst review, she makes reviewing fun, and very simple to remember important content, or should I say core content. I also believe Kaplan questions are similar to Nclex questions, because they test you at the application and analysis level...which is what the NCLEX primarily targets I took my NCLEX-RN exam today, ...I still don't know my results ...Honestly, the exam was not as scary as I thought, again don't know my results, but I strongly believe reviewing content with Hurst and doing Kaplan questions, and using the Lacharity book, really prepared me to test and feel more confident...OMG ...The lacharity book is a must have for priority and delegation questions. The Lacharity book along with Kaplan questions really bring you to a higher level of critical thinking....I did not practice with a lot of questions, from other sources i.e Saunders, Exam Cram etc..., I primarily used Lacharity and Kaplan for questions, I really wanted to purchase the Kaplan Qbank, but it was too expensive. I believe after doing the Hurst review, doing at least a 100 qs daily is very good to reinforce your content.

Kaplan vs. Hurst Review
Hi...I'm reviewing for NCLEX-RN, by using Hurst....So are some other classmates of mine :-)...I take my exam next Tuesday, I'm trying my best to finish-up the online lectures...It is a good investment, I really really enjoy her lectures, because she simplifies ...WHAT YOU absoultely need to KNOW ! Shes's also funny, which makes you enjoy her lectures so much more..I've learned a lot on nursing concepts i had issues with during nursing school....so I can tell you if it really helped me, after next Tues :-)..Also I've also been using the Lacharity book...Really helps you critically think !

16 days till i take the NCLEX RN, Advice PLEASE
Sheila0313, Thanks sooo MUCH !!! I'm using Hurst Review for core content, I'm an Auditory learner, always have been ...Actually have to hear Lectures, that really benefits me, so Hurst is AWESOME ( Hope it helps pass NCLEX...LOL), but also using Kaplan test strategies and will DO the LAcharity book, which I hear is a MUST...trying to do more questions, but have a 4 month old baby and 6 yr old son, husband etc...so getting study time is hard enough, but I did very well in Nursing school, despite all that goes on...Just hope I can pass this Last exam the end of this month, Jan 25th ;-)...What are u using to study?

I take my NCLEX at the end of this month....Were the questions similar to Kaplan, I mean in their difficulty?
-
How did you study for NCLEX?
Yeah...That's what I hear. That Kaplan questions are harder than the actual NCLEX questions....Anybody else want to share their opinion on Kaplan questions or Hurst Review?

How did you study for NCLEX?
Whill08...Thank you soo much for the advice...soo apreciate it...I dont't have the Qreviews from Hurst...Actually I don't have those, only the lectures :-(...A friend lend me her Hurst stuff, but i don't have that...Do I need the Q reviews, any clue where I can get them?
-
How did you study for NCLEX?
To Whill08...Hi, I'm also reviewing or actually Using the Hurst Review online review...I feel so much more confident about taking the NCLEX, now that you mentioned that you used the Hurst Review...I was skeptical about the review at first, but she teaches the content so freely, I mean in an easy way to remember the content...I take my exam at the end of this month, I also have the Lacharity book (Delegation, etc) and Kaplan Strategy book, I haven't been doing too many questions though, I figured I'd watch all of my Hurst review first, Read Lacharity, then learn Kaplan strategies, do Kaplan Qtrainers...then focus on questions...Is this a good plan? Open to any opinion.

Survive and Dominate the NCLEX - The Krav Maga Approach
Congrats !!!! I will soon be preparing for NCLEX...Have to TACKLE HESI first though, can anyone provide information about how to study to TACKLE the HESI, will be taking the exam in 3 weeks..any suggestions would be helpful. I also bought an old version 2007 of KAplan Stratgies (blue book), figured stratgies don't change ...but I have heard the NCLEX is much harder now, since the new changes this year....Do you think you could PM a copy of the random facts too?
-
took my nclex rn today....
So happy for CONGRATS ....I'll soon have to confront the NCLEX, have to pass HESI first, take that in 2 weeks, then the DREADED NCLEX... YIKES !!! I noticed you mentioned Saunders for theory and Kaplan for question practice, I own the Saunders, but could not afford to purchase Kaplan ($400), so I bought the Kaplan 2007 version / Strategies for NCLEX -RN, it has 2 practice tests...it was only $6.00 at Half-price books...I figured strategies don't change, but I do know that the exam has changed this year, heard it's much harder, than before. How long did you study, before you decided to take NCLEX?

Need Guidance - Which Path to Take? Please Help!
I'm currently in a LVN-RN bridge program in Texas, I started last Fall 2009, and if God so decides, I will finish this Fall 2010. I became a LVN ( Licensed Vocational Nurse) in 2005, I've been working for a very well known hospital for about 3 yrs now, before then I worked in LTC for a brief period, currently I practice more in urgent medicine at the hospital I work for,in their float pool; which gives me more flexibility with school. Honestly, I have not been too stressed with classes or clinicals, and I believe it's because i'm an LVN. Clinicals were not too challenging, the Med-Surg class, a little , only because the exams came quickly and I did'nt have much time to study, because of work and family. I too was in the same situation in 2005, I was going to apply for a RN program, but found-out I was pregnant at the time, so I decided to pursue my LVN. I do not regret the decision, because it has empowered me even more, especially with RN school. I feel being an LVN, really prepared my for the critical thinking of RN school, because as a nurse LVN/LPN or RN , YOU MUST POSESS CRITICAL THINKING ! Also, having experience as a LVN, really helped with assessing patients more throughly or recognizing when something is going wrong or improving. I you go to a very good LVN/LPN school that really takes the time and investment with their students, and of course being a very dedicated to learning the nursing knowledge, you will be successful anywhere you go. RN school, in my opinion, just adds on to the knowledge and refreshes/refines your skills. Yes, will learn new challenging skills and information, but you will be able to aquire it more efficiently, because you'll have the nursing background. Make the best decision for your current situation, you need a car, get the car first, because you'll need it for clinicals and school, and continue to work towards the ultimate goal.

Does anyone know?
Good question, I have a friend that failed-out of 3rd Semester of RN program, would have been in 4th Sem ( Final Semester) this Fall 2010, the school is in Texas. Where could info for her to be able to sit for the NCLEX-PN, I'm currently a LVN, and in my last semester in a RN program, I knew someone that actually sat for the NCLEX-PN during RN school, just can't get in touch with her. I really want to help my friend, because she really wants to work while awaiting a re-admit slot for the RN program.
