  1. I would say do questions questions questions!!!!!!! I can't tell you what questions you will get, but I took the exam twice and got a lot of: thyroid (hypo, hyper), parathyroid (hypo, hyper), Diabetes- r/t foot care, meds for type 2 (glucophage) , maternity, and pedi. Also, I've been telling just about everyone on here ... BE PREPARED FOR SELECT ALL THAT APPLY!!! I would definitely suggest a book that is just all of those alternate format questions!!! they really hand it to ya on the exam, at least 10-15 questions at the least I got on both of the exams. For medication administration, be able to convert! the popular one i had was mcg -> mg, lb->kg, etc. Good luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) :) :)
  2. Even if the studies give a "low" percentage, that does not mean that YOU will not have a high percentage of a chance to pass the NCLEX the second time around!!! Just make sure you stick to a study plan. I failed the first time, and like you I thought maybe I was a little overly confident, and didn't study much? Who knows what the reason was, I wouldn't dwell on it. Advice I have for you is definitely become familiar with SATA questions... I had 10-15 the first time around, AND the second time around. Make sure you really are paying attention to what the question is asking! I posted this on someone else post, but if something is asking you what will decrease the risk of infection, all of the answers might be correct for the question, but NOT ALL will be for the purpose of decreasing the risk for infection. Someone also suggested to me that I should take "test" prep questions up to 265, so I will be prepared if I had to answer all of the questions. The second time around I had the minimum and couldn't be more thrillled! So you can do it to!!! Have faith. It does not make you any less of a nurse for how many times you take the exam. If you are like me, you will definitely be nervous going to the test center again, but a weight will definitely be lifted because you now know what to expect, ya know. So study, study, study, have faith and bomb that test!! GOODLUCK!:):)
  3. Did you do the pearson vue trick!? google "pearson vue trick" follow the instructions, it's very accurate in my opinion!
  4. I would make sure that your confident with select all that apply (SATA) questions.. they are really putting a lot on the exams. I had 75 questions, and I would say i had 10-15 SATA. Also, make sure you READ the question, and recognize what they are asking. For instance: I had a SATA questions that was about administered blood, but the question was asking about which would DECREASE the risk of infection. ALL of the answers were correct way to administer blood, but NOT ALL were going to decrease the risk of infection. Understand? Also, I would make sure you know your conversions.. I had two medication administration questions that involved mcg... and you had to convert to mg, etc. It also is all about the type questions your given, and your level of knowledge. So, go in confident, relax, breath, and conquer the test!!!
  5. I would like them too. i have a friend who is looking for notes, and would love to send them along~ [email protected]
  6. Honestly, that notice really doesn't mean much, in my opinion. Definite study the ones that you were "near passing" and "below passing". However, I didn't get one "above average" i got all "near passing" and "below" on one of the criteria, and then I passed the test the next time with minimum questions. Have faith, study, study, do questions questions... I got a LOT of diabetes and maternity the second time around, and a LOT of thyroid, parathyroid the first time around. I also got a lot of select all that apply, so if you have trouble with that I would suggest going to a book store and purchasing a book just with those questions. I have one of Lippincott's Alternate-Format Questions... that worked and REALLY helped the second time around for me. Awhile ago, someone posted a bunch of just random notes, I thought that helped too... let me know if you want me to send it to ya! Its about like 13 pages of stuff. Don't give up, really, it doesn't make you any less of a nurse just by how many times you have to take the test!!! Goodluck!:redpinkhe
  7. I haven't scrolled through all of the pages, but don't forget the infamous Kate Gosselin (Kate Plus 8, or formally John and Kate plus 8)
  8. Hey everyone, I had posted on here for the first time a couple of weeks ago sharing my story. And just want to let everyone know that I took my exam yesterday, had only 75 questions, and the PVT trick worked!!!!!!!!!:yeah: I am so thrilled!!!!!! I'm just waiting now for my name to pop up on the mass board of nursing, or get my quick results!!! Then I can finally start a new beginning!!!!:):) Congratulations to all and thank you for all the support!!! And for all you that think negatively about the test, just try to study, study, study, and find mneumonics on this website, and you will do fine! Ashley, BSN, RN!!!!! :nurse::nurse:
  9. Thanks for the advice, I think I might just do that... it seems like when your studying your doing so many questions, but I should definitely sit down and do 265 a couple of time before the test! Thanks!:)
  10. Hi all! I'm new to posting on here, but I am constantly reading others post, and enjoying reading all the helpful feedback. Therefore, I'm hoping I'll get the same. I will be taking the NCLEX for the second time in a little over a week. Lets just say failing the NCLEX was my worst fear, and I felt like the world was crashing down. I was your typical good student, got through college raising a 2 year old, and always strived to stay ahead. Then came NCLEX.... my first be "F" in I don't know how long.. I have up'ed my studying to the max. With the limited time I have with a toddler, I'm studying. I go to the library. I've does probably 5000+ questions. I am attempting to get this the second time, and even aiming for 75 questions. I have faith, but what if I don't pass again? I know there's always a 3rd time, but I don't even want it to come to that. I have been telling myself that God just wanted me to have the summer to spend with my family without knowing that I have to go back to school in September. Also, as in the title, "Good things come to those who wait" Well I'm waiting VERY patiently. Any words of encouragement will be greatly appreciated!!! Also, if anyone has any helpful study points that they just want to remind me to remember, that would be amazing!!! I'm gonna need all the help and support I can get!! :redbeathe
