I am in nursing becauase I care I have been at the other spectrum as apatient seeing nurses not realizing that their lack of caring was showing thru how they responded to me and theirlevel of care and theu did noit havce aheavy work load fyi! I also went into nursing because I have 2 special needs sons and have seen the healthcare system failing , I want to help my sons and others in a small way at least to ease the burden of a failing system. I watched Emmanuel's Gift it was a documentary, it is another reason why I am a new LPN and I am continuing my education to be come a RN. ATM I am searching for a job as a LPN and am surprsied to find jobs here lacking, not many opportunities!! But I will plug along I believe in what I have been trained for and cont. on that journe. Some of us are not idealistic we do care and some of us once did but life gets in the way and we get callous,life is hrad, i for one have led a very hard life so anyhting that gets thrown at me in nursing will not change my caring, I have been homeless, I have lost a child thru being beaten by a spouse now aka ex, I have been attacked at age 12 almost raped beaten by my father as toddler abused by family members, etc many thing and I am still hear and amazingly through God's grace and confirmation through therapists left unscathed...strnger and more compassionate but much wiser, I am no doormat but I always believd everyone has a good side now I am a litle more cynical I see a lot more evil now than the good I am no longer blind to the evil.But I will continue to care a lot otherwise I am a machine I am not human. As for the money vs. caring, its a matter of why you come into the feild and to be careful if you do not really care because it can effect your leevel of performance as anurse and the patients do see it and their health may depend on your caring. The admin. do look at the bottom line and I hope care just a little but these days all people have to but we must never forget to stop caring and those who do not it is time to start. It seperates us from machines, we have to care at least a little. Forgive anytypos I have scarteche my eye and I developed an infection I am on meds LOL...drugged up LOL!!! only on antibiotics really but eye sight is poor blurs sometimes!!Hope no one has been offended and hope this little but helps in some way!

I FOR ONE AM A NEW GRADUATE AS OF 2010 IN DECEMBER, AND I WOULD BE SO WILLING TO WORK ANY SHIRT AND HRS ANYWHERE AS LONG AS IT DOESNT SLAM INTO MY COLLEGE HRS. I ONLY HAVE CLASS MON-WED.I AM WORKING TOWARDS MY ADN DEGREE FINISHING LAST PREREQS BEFOR ETRYINTO GET INTOADN PROGRAM HERE...THEN I WAIT A YR. AFTER SIGNING ON FOR IT!!! MY PROBLEM IS THE CLINICAL TRAINING I GOT IN SCHOOL IS NOT ENOUGH FOR ANYONE THEY WANT ACTUAL JOB EXPERIENCE...SO I HAVENT FOUND A JOB AT ALL:uhoh3:...AND I CAN NOT MOVE TO ANOTHER STATE BECAUSE OF ONE FO MY SONS AT THE MOMENT. SO I AM STUCK HOW CAN I GET JOB EXPERIENCE IF NO OINE WILL HIRE ME?? SORRY FOR THE CAPS I AM SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO FRUSTRATED... Help!!! need prayers...got interview next Thursday But I am terrified what will theyt say about my experience they went by my resume and I didn't give experience as in work only stated my skill set, what I learned and my education and willingness to continue my education and my knack for learning fast and be adaptable...that type of resume selling my self big now Im terrified my allergies are running amuck and now a head cold on top of it!! Frustrated in Baraboo Wisconsin!!!

Agencies?? none ehre any here want exp. of at least one year as a LPN!!! I am screwed....whsat the heck ma i suppossed to do now?? I am in chem class presently and its difficult the teacher is very hard driven and maticulous about everything..I need to pass that so I can move on to A&P 1 and A&P2...yes trying to get in RN program myself...GRRR...this whole thing sucks I am soo depressed...wish I could move to Texas ..at least there will be no snow if you move south enough....

good luck on even getting a positon in a LTC facility as a new graduate, I am even asking for NOC shift all weekends and holidays...I will work it...it looks like they are hiring thru employee search type providers who al are looking for at leats 1 yr. exp...query??? How can I get exp. if I can not get a job?? Furthermore why do they not concider the clinical rotations we did in school as no exp. at all? Does my schopoling mean nothing??? It's such s jipp and i am ticked offf.I worked hard as a single mom with disabled sons and pulled off a 3.4 GPA!!! It doesn't mena squat apparently.... what is that teaching my sons?? that education is worthless no matter how good you are....... I will keep trying but it looks grim here in Wisconsin and I can not kmove to another state until next May not this May...grrrr.

oh boy alot of fuss! I have a questsion to by pass everything and go straight t applying for texas licensure...do i have to move there first...i was hoping to find a job first there no choice but to stay here in wisc until i do find a job in texas...my sons is in a treatment foster home to help with his problems until im done with school and its a bunch of legal brew haw...so i need to make sure i have things in place or they will give me even more flack...the stupid system...no one looks at his documented disabilities atn all which causes him to have out bursts every few months when his needs arent met...he starts to manipulate to get what he needs and its chaotic... anthow i need to ahev a palec and a job in texas before i can move there! Will that be a problem since i want to go he shorter route??And not go thru all the fuss?? Thx for all all the info.!! ~monica..distressed in cheeseland

Hello ... ok now how do I get an endorsement..whats the process?? and school for my son ..it depends on if they have the resources and can handle schooling hm in a rigid environment it has to be evry well controlled and absolutely NO bullying from anyone..he has to stay in one class at all times and one teacher at all time he has to have a speech pathologist and a OT as well as a therapist on call...he has to have several breaks and cant handle a huge class room his disability is scary..hes so innocent hes a target for rapists bullies pedos...he doesnt recognize deceit..no NVLD child does and can rarely be taught it. I hope a public school work with a rigid child as he ...he can not change much he has brain dmge in the right hemisphere of his brain.. so he lacks a greta deal of social and life skills he may never learn or learn incredibly slow with a rigid life schedule. It sounds gloomy i know! But I have rad about his disability extensively..ther is tips and tools I can use to help him a lot at home but the schools need to be consistent at all times and take care of his spacial needs. I am soo glad Texas cares for special ed kids..wisc doesnt fyi! I origanly thought corpus christi believe it or not if u knew my kids i rambled on for yrs about it..lol... U ladies have any ideas on how io can network long distance from here?I havce put out a loan thru my schooling and will have a little cash to travel in Texas for face to face filling out apps and interviews but i have to consolidate my resources for i am poor...so i have to bunch up my time in 2-3 days of pounding pavement there...come home save rest of the $$ wait for replies...grrr then go back for interveiws! I cant move without a job!My son is at a treatment foster home because he was violent (school had alot to do with it...nvld kids if not gettin needs met retaliate one way or another) and "they" thought it was best that he not be home whil;e i do my last semester...lol!! I got a B despite his defiance...it was too much in the end...but one thing led to another and it snow balled thats the system for you..now he will slowly intagrate back into the home ."if he can" they say...LOL they gloss over his disabilty for over a yr and gave me no $$ for resources to study up and change home environment for him..my mother finally come thru and helps me with $$ so i can get proffessional materials relating to his very disability to help him which i now can...now i have to fight the school he goes too...if one area of his life is not filling his needs it wont matter what anyone else does unfortunately...thats a NVLD child. sorry for the rants!!! Its frustratin..only blessin from God in all this that i see is i can get an A instead of a B and i kno his disorder like my own shadow ...no disruptions from the brood at home! Thx for the info you two!...I cant live without a decent school for my son...i cant live with out warmth...i need a small town environment for my son so he feels safe(fyi if NVLD childrens needs arent met sumthin else happens too...they literally feel unsafe)...i dont care if ther is not a huge waterpark thing near by ..ill travel....i will work any shift any day..just make it consistent at leats every two weeks so i can help my son adjust...i am the only care provider and he could always count on me....I love the ocean but i can live with out it..i am a night owl but can stand days...i am probably the most adjustable person anyone knows...but school for my son an appropriate one has to be in place for him...where it not too far so its feasible for me to commute to /job/home/school. Hurricanes??Oh well...and massive storms dont bother me...ild rather live in a apartment too...at first and build my credit up and employment history... I would sign a contract with an employer as long as i get FT and it has EXCELLENT benefits...i need great insurance for my kids and a great mental health insurance for my special needs son. i will keep invetsigating Texas maybe if the employers see that i am willing to relocate and that i will have traveled across the country to fill out an app and also come back for an interview...it will make me stand out against the rest:P I can only trust in God on this...If it wasnt for him whisperin in the administrations ear to add more students for the first time in this LPN program I would have had to wait another yr...I am 43 I cant wait another yr...my son cant wait either..he needs a good school we need good insurance...I have had this calling to nursing for over 20 yrs...welding was my second ..yes i weld too LOL...but i didnt pursue it as much as nursin...i lost the hunger and gave up top whatever was out there at the time 18 yrs ago! My hunger is back has been for 10 or so yrs lol! Dont you just love AJN?...Oh and all the other info out there...i cant get enough... srry ramblin..i will cont. to investigate ..study ...ween my son back home ...pray...get Texas license...look in adds travel apply... travel back...interview...travel there....hopefully get it! really love all the positive posts about LPNs i am a up and coming LPN to be Dec17th this yr will be my last day then its on to NCLEX!! I am looking for ajhob as a LPN in Texas preferrably south Texas and its good to see you Rns and higher ups appreciating what LPNs are ...u could say Lpns got ur back! I hope to work in any field and get my feet really wet! Here is praying that i find a job in Texas soon after i get my license...im a single mom here in wisc and it will be difficult to commute back and forth to do interviews and network to find a job!!! I hope it will work out send prayers my way pleez and wish me and my sons luck... Ps you are all a breath of fresh air to me and a blessing...this post is great!!

Thanks for the information:)...I am studying a lot of Spanish at the moment on my own and as long as theres a job for me and a school for my son who has NVLD we are good to go and yes I am researching all of Texas thats where the special schools are for my son too..alot of the other states dont have much and calif is not a sister state with the license i would get here...it wont travel... Texas is it... i want to ideally move to southern Texas if at all possible.:redpinkheMy son thrives in warm weather as id o as well!

dont kno who u were imputtin too but im taking the advice oh and i have loads of lippincott stuff LOL..ive been ordering books gettin knowledge happy in all professions..my hope is to be in ER or cardio...possibly in surg/cardio the hearts fascinates me..but ill take what i can get! im guna have to purches more study materials i see tho lol for the NCLEx IM worried ..about three yrs ago when i was doing my cna classes...i heard straight from the strudents there that most of them didnt pass their NCLEX!!!I though holy crap!! what wrere they doing just socializing?? i notice that in my class they did a lot of that while they studied a lot of criticizing other class mates with the clothes they wore etc...nithin relevant and they are clicky too...lol i never had any luck bonding with them...yes they were all in their 20s save for 3 (one in there 30s and the other two in my age bracket) really catty bunch...and some barely made it [past last semester! LOL..me gpa 3.0 barely studied ...special need son was a hand full. srry for rantin...again thx for input and well wishes ..best of luck and God speed to us all!!!!!!!!!!

I am going into my last semester for LPN program DEC17th is my last day...is it too early to study for NCLEX PN now??? LOL I have ATI books for review and my past semester books on hand does this help me any??? Do I need further materials??? any advice please ...I would appreciate very much!~Thanks!!!!

I have a question...How do I network and when do I start to do such a thing when I have one semester to go for LPN and NCLEX to pass and I have children I raise alone? I currently reside in Wisconsin but I am going to have to move to Texas ...my son is able to get the special schooling he needs ther for his special needs and my license will carry over there for Texas is the sister state to ...Wisc...a state I hate...too much snow and lacks programs and schools for my son..So how can I network ...when and how?

Im new to this particular group so bear with me! I am nursing student with a current GPA of 3.0..I am only going for my LPN at this time and work while I go towards the RN route...I havent a choice...im a single mom with no other education other than my one semester of nursing school thus far...and a very high needs child with NVLD...I have a question..what can I do this semester to make me more marketable? I am currently studying Spanish on my own and I am am willing to relocate to my sister state, after NCLEX exam,Texas...I currently reside in Wisc...and all my current class mates are going for their RN ...I feel very alone in this but I need to produce income my sons special ed needs are not being met here and as I have stated No special back round education from me...and no jobs here of any kind! I have been wanting to finish nursing school for over 20 yrs and because of an exhusband...and problems with 2 of my 6 sons...I was unable to go to the actual classes. LOL>>I currently have only 3 in the home now...FYI dont have a MI everyone !I need advice...there are special schools for my son in Texas too that are not here...so any advice would be appreciated!!!
