  1. Hey thanks for the reply. I live in Tuscaloosa and currently the hospital here is not hiring any new lpns. Hopefully something will change by the time I finish school. Looks like I may have a commute though.........:)
  2. Hi, I am a current nursing student at Shelton. I got in right before they started making the Teas V a part of the acceptance process but we had to take it at orientation. You should apply at Bevill and Jeff State. Also, have you thought about Lawson? You never know, it is all based on who applies. A couple of people in my class got in because someone didn't accept their spot. Sorry I couldn't be of more help. Good Luck to you!
  3. Hey thanks for the reply! I am definetly going to get my RN. I just didn't want to wait around on the list so I decided to go ahead and get my LPN and then bridge. I was thinking between 14-15 so I guess I was close. I will hope for the the 17. Once agian, thanks for the info!
  4. Hi, I am from Alabama and while I only had to take the TEAS V test to get accepted, there was so much other stuff to do like physical, drug testing, shots, titers, tb tests that it was mind boggling. I am finishing up my 3rd week and trust me, I don't have time to think about any of that anymore but I LOVE it so far. Good Luck to you!
  5. Hi, I am from Alabama but thought I would give a suggestion. I had my shots done at a local health department. I had to have several things and a mandatory HepB shot. In all though, I paid 53 dollars. Maybe you could look into that. Hope that helped! Good Luck!
  6. Hi, I am in Alabama and we did have to take a drug test before starting. We actually had two days of orientation and on the second day, as we were leaving, the labcorp people were waiting in the hallway for us. You could see if your school has a nursing student handbook and it will probably be in there. Also, as long as you have a prescription you should be okay! Good Luck!
  7. Hi, I am not a lpn yet but working to become one. I did some searching because I wanted to know too. At two sites that came up under google search it says for RN 18 months exp. and lpn generally 6 years! Anyway just wanted to share. Have a great day!
  8. Hi, Just thought I'd pick back up on this thread. My name is Brandy and I am about to start lpn school! I am a mom to three and I am finally able to pursue my nursing career! +
  9. Hi, I have been going through the forums here looking for starting lpn salaries in Alabama. I really havent found a definite answer. Does anyone know the starting pay for lpn's? I am in Tuscaloosa but interested in different counties also. --This isn't going to make me change my mind to finish school I am honestly just curious!! Thanks!
  10. I'm going to Shelton State Community College in Alabama. We had orientation July 8th and 9th. We just turned in forms, ordered uniforms, got registered for classes, learned where things were and drug tested. yeah!
