  1. I agree with what was said below. The germs you find in the stores are worse, most likely, than what is on your scrubs. Granted, I would not run errands with visibly soiled scrubs. The thing is, I now work in Legal Nurse Consulting. I wear my old scrubs when I take the dogs for a walk. I run errands first. They are clean when I hit the grocery store. I am also like others. I prefer to run errands on the way home because once home, there is no way you will get me out again. Not even if I am out of food. I will go without. If I were still in the hospital, it would depend on what patients I worked with during the day. If I worked with someone on precautions, I would probably have cleaner scrubs because of all the PPE. And, depending on the bug...
  2. You don't need to leave nursing altogether. I felt the same way at one time. Today, I work as a Legal Nurse Consultant in a law firm. I am very happy here, finally! I get to use my knowledge each and every day. Find something else in nursing before you leave entirely. Someone once told me it may only be because I hadn't found where I should be. I found it. You can, too.
  3. I feel your pain. I worked the bedside 15 years. I changed jobs many times, feeling it was the hospital. After a few years I realized I hated the job. I thought it was about the patient. Administration does not care about you or your families. No ones cares you need to get home and give medicines to loved ones and if you are late, there can be devastating consequences. And, for a lot of patients, it is what can I get for free. How many patients have I discharged on Medicaid who go home in a Lexis? And, they all have the expensive phones. I finally went back and got my BSN and left forever. I now work as a Legal Nurse Consultant at a law firm. Even the attorneys are more civil.
