  1. CNAs should never be passing medications in LTC. There have been cases where residents refuse to take the med from the LN and the NAC assists , but that is used in very rare cases. Creams and lotions to be applied per a MD order fall into the same class as medications. If she is asked to give a med, she can refuse to do so. Any retaliation from the LN or facility is unacceptable.
  2. I typically do a bit of dress up throughout the month. I have headbands with cats, ghosts, pumpkins etc. I have my own office so I put out little items and do a door cover. Nothing too scarey. We have more fall items up than halloween. We are also doing a bake sale that day to raise money. Typically we can wear costumes on halloween as long as we can work in them and they arent too scarey.
  3. Being new myself, you dont want to cause waves n what not. But unfortunately, you're going to have to write up th CNA's for leaving the floor for as long as they do, remind them of their job. You could say their leaving the floor for 90+ minutes is abandonment resulting in neglect. And if thats the case then they need to be turned into the state department. Same as the nurses who dont do precribed treatments. Ive had some similar cases myself. CNA's being rude and not doing what is asked. I was an aide for 8yrs before becoming a nurse. I know their job and mine. We all work hard during our day even if it doesnt appear we do. There are lots of things on our shoulders and things going on that they dont see Keep your chin up and care for you patients as best you can
